Chapter 136: TALENT ALL OVER 3

Chapter 136: Chapter 136: TALENT ALL OVER 3

In the next round, she would see if they could make something else. She just wanted to check their work and see if she could use them in the future.

Calista found other artisans such as a sculpture artist, who could turn a stone or wood into anything. Of course, in places like theirs, these kinds of artisans were rare and even considered wasting talents, but it was this kind of talent that Calista wanted.

She told the middle-aged man to make two sculptures for her, a snake and a cat first, using both stones and wood. If she loves them, she will hire him permanently for life.

The man was very excited. He thanked Calista profusely before rushing home to start on this assignment.

Other artisans she liked were these three sisters who happened to love tinkering with stones to make jewelry. Gemstones weren’t easy to get hold of, so these ladies happened to use stones from the rivers and mountains, as well as seeds to make beautiful jewelry.

However, the fact that they were women put them at a disadvantage. They couldn’t travel far since there were children and family to take care of.

So, working far wouldn’t do, and the last time they did a job for someone, they suffered a loss. Thankfully, they left that place and moved to this district, where they lie low.

But now that they heard a fellow woman was doing this, they couldn’t help but have their hopes up. That was why they were here.

They even brought samples of the pieces they made. And Calista seeing such inexpensive and yet beautiful jewelry, her eyes sparkled so much as if diamonds were plugged in there.

Diamond hired those three on the spot and informed them to come another day to discuss the terms. It was getting late, and that discussion might take long.

Among all the artisans who came, Calista didn’t invite anyone to the food or sugar factory. She would deal with this issue when the factory is ready for use.

Besides, these, she trusted her villagers more than outsiders. She can’t have outsiders returning to their homes with her recipes in her head, can she?

After meeting everyone who came, Calista was generous and offered them what to do. Those who came left happily despite being away for hours.

And Calista was the happiest.

Wages in places like hers weren’t that high, so she was in a good mood.

Besides, she managed to find some unique, talented people in the process. How could she not be happy?

When the interviews were done, Calista returned to her manor and refused to eat. The servants had cooked already. It would be a waste of food.

After dinner, Calista didn’t go to sleep. She wasn’t sleepy and was very energetic. She had contracts to write and terms to think hard about.

The other contracts weren’t that hard, but for the sculpture and the jewelry makers, she needed to be careful. After all, she wouldn’t tolerate it if they get poached one day in the future when their works become famous.

Although she was feeling charitable, it wasn’t to the extent of nurturing talents and having them stolen from her that easily.

So, the terms of the contract needed to be harsh and yet understandable at the same time.

With that in mind, she started jotting down what she wanted to see in the contracts.

By the time she was done, a satisfied smile was on her face.

She had to write down the contracts afresh with confidence since she had jotted everything down which she wanted.

She made several copies since the contracts would come in pairs. One for her and the other for the employee.

Every employee should have proof of his or her employment. This way, they can have that entitlement and the affirmation that they are indeed working and nothing would go wrong.

There is this kind of confidence and security level a contract brings to an employee. It makes them different from temporary employees who can suffer gravely whenever a situation crops up in the company.

The position of permanent or official employees was different. And she wanted to provide her people with that kind of security.

This way they can work with their minds at ease, without worrying about an uncertainty which might happen in the future.

With all the work done, Calista took her night bath before going to sleep.

The next morning, she woke up early as usual and did her morning chores.

She ate breakfast and went for a walk as she waited for the ladies she promised to meet on this day.

She didn’t go very far, since she didn’t want them to not find her when they arrived.

It was around ten when they arrived, and they seemed to be panting heavily, probably from walking hurriedly.

When they arrived, Calista served them some food and let them eat first before talking about anything else.

These three sisters were living in a village three hours away from Cropville village and eight hours away from Silverbroke town, but still part of the same district as Cropville. It was one of the eight villages.

Since they have children, an emergency happened which made them leave a bit late this morning.

Calista didn’t mind. After all, she would be guilty if these ladies came across any harm on the road, just because they wanted to sign a contract with her.

Thankfully, everything was resolved and here they were.

With them here, Calista didn’t go around in circles but went ahead to discuss the issue that brought them together once again; the contract terms.

She didn’t want them to start working for her without knowing what would be expected from them and what they could expect from her as well.

All those issues needed to be discussed in detail. After all, this kind of work might bring in a lot of money in the future. More than what these ladies might even think.

And since she was planning on keeping them for longer, they needed to work harmoniously.

If they aren’t harmonious, only discord will remain.

And she wasn’t going to let that happen.
