Chapter 133: SENDING DIANA OFF

Chapter 133: Chapter 133: SENDING DIANA OFF

Ever since she received the annulment letter, Calista was over the moon. The sham marriage between her and that deserter was no longer in effect. And now her child could be given her name. After all, she was still a household, regardless of whether she married or not.

With the annulment letter stashed safely somewhere, Calista turned her attention to Diana.

After giving her the list of what she wanted for the factory, Diana started preparing for takeoff.

She had been playing around for a long time and it was time for her to return home and deliver the items she purchased on her earlier trip.

She was a merchant and, as one, money was needed to be made no matter what.

However, before leaving, Diana bought some local specialties from the village. The villagers, having someone willing to buy their products, obviously took out several and earned themselves some money in return.

When all that was done, Calista didn’t bother to host another banquet. After all, these people would be returning again. Why waste money and ingredients?

Since a day was spent with Diana doing so, she couldn’t leave on that day but had to start the journey early the following day.

On the same day again, Ba Susan had messengers sent to the other seven villagers recruiting artisans. Of course, the jobs weren’t guaranteed. After all, they needed to please Calista first before they could be happy.

As for the lessons, they were the same.

With Diana and others leaving, Ian volunteered to remain behind to teach, which was something that no one objected to.

Calista was the happiest, with someone remaining behind to be a teacher. She didn’t have to step in herself.

With that, she decided to treat the man better.

So, she was planning to let him stay at the previous tree house. She still couldn’t house any male guests at her manor, no matter what, unless they were servants.

Unfortunately, she didn’t have any male servants but only female ones. So, Ian would have to suffer a bit at the tree house if he wasn’t used to it.

But that place was better than the dorms that they were using.

She just needed to furnish the place again and make it homey. This way in the future, if other male guests come to visit her, they would find shelter there. There were still rooms there to be used.

That night at the dorms, watching the moonlight was Ian and Diana. With Diana leaving early in the morning, roughly a few hours later, sleeping was of no use.

She might as well sleep on the road later. The trip to her city was still far, after all.

"Are you sure that you want to remain behind?" Diana asked Ian without looking at the other.

There was silence, no one responding before the response finally came. "Um. I want to."

Diana’s lips rose upward after hearing that kind of answer. "It’s not even certain if you can win her heart!" she coldly said, turning her head to look at the other, curious to see what kind of expression he would be making now.

However, Ian didn’t seem bothered but had a mild smile on his face.

"I know, but I can’t help but want to try my luck!"

"Even when she was married twice and even carrying another man’s child?" Diana asked sternly, as she looked at Ian.

"I ..." Ian stuttered, a response upon getting such a question unexpectedly.

It wasn’t that she was looking down on Calista. In fact, she idolized her a lot. After all, this was a woman who managed to bring her mother from the dead with medicine. Something that the divine doctors she knew never managed to achieve.

There was so much that she could talk about when it came to her. However, that still didn’t erase the fact that Calista was once a second wife to an older man, got widowed and after five years got married, got pregnant and got abandoned as well.

And on top of that, she was older than Ian by at least four to five years.

It was rare for men to marry older women, especially in families like theirs.

And she became worried after hearing Ian’s stuttering. That was a sign of uncertainty, something g that a woman like Calista would hate.

Just look at this husband. They have been married for less than four months. And the fact that he disappeared for more than a month, Calista had an annulment. For someone that decisive and merciless even to herself, what makes him think that she can tolerate a less confident person?

Sighing as she felt that she was getting over her head, Diana still felt that if she didn’t let Ian think deeply, he might end up hurting in the future.

No matter what, Ian was still her friend. A boy she grew up with and had been with on the road for a while now, though his purpose wasn’t to really buy and sell goods.

Ian was more of a scholar and traveling around gave him a leeway and a chance to see the outside world. Ian was a great author and his books sell very well on the market.

Traveling inspired him a lot. And just because his family gave in to this didn’t mean that, just like her, he had the freedom to do what he wanted in the future.

It wasn’t like that at all. If he hadn’t been decisive and firm in his decision, then nothing would have happened the way he wanted.

Marriages weren’t done just because the couple was in love, but the family members should have some spark with the child’s partner as well.

If he brings home the wife that the family wasn’t happy with, wouldn’t that put everyone in an awkward position?

So, she sincerely hoped that Ian would think this through. If he was certain that he could make his possessive mother agree and be fine with Calista, then she wouldn’t mind supporting this.

Of course, there was an issue of whether Calista would agree to this or not. After all, that sis of hers was very difficult to understand all the time.

On this night, Diana gave Ian a lecture to the extent that Ian didn’t sleep well that night. It was a sleepless night filled with endless sighs.

Around three in the morning, Diana and her men were ready to go. All the carriages were packed to the brim, with the horses well-fed and weapons ready to be drawn if anything happened on the road.

Since Calista was pregnant, she refused to send Diana off and had that done before going to bed last night.

So, no one except for the dogs, cats and other night owls saw Diana and her entourage off.

By the time the sun started rising, who knew where Diana and her people were?
