Chapter 129: Chapter 129: SCHOOL FOR ALL
At the new building recently built by Calista, despite being in the morning, several villagers could be seen waiting.
’It seems that the threat worked well!’
It was August, and no longer as cold as it was around July. And it being August, in the parts of the region where they lived, they didn’t touch the fields at all.
The time that the villagers started going to the fields was around October, the earliest to turn the soil and prepare for the planting season. With most rains coming around December, the villagers start planting at the end of November or early December. Otherwise, the loss they would suffer would be great.
There was no more painful thing than having all the seeds to be burnt by the scorching sun because the rains hadn’t fallen yet.
Calista, despite not being a farm lover herself, knew at least that much. So why should these people lie about having much to do when that wasn’t the case?
Besides, it wasn’t like they would be learning the whole day. Putting too much in the head would cause dire consequences. Just like when you teach a kindergartner, the teacher must teach for a short time and then play with the kid.
Let the mind process the lessons, be at ease, and remove the strains before continuing again.
Of course, repetitive lessons would happen. This way, the information would be imprinted in their minds.
That was also the case for these students. They were new to the whole school thing, so a lot had to be considered.
When she arrived, the teachers in charge were also on standby.
The lessons were to be done in the morning for two hours and in the evening for two hours again.
So, what a student might miss during the first session if he or she attends the last session, the lesson would be recovered.
The workshop building where the lessons would be taking place wasn’t too big to accommodate all the villagers. Fortunately, those who came were enough to fill the place.
After her arrival, the first thing that happened was registering everyone who came for the lessons.
When the person was done registering his or her name, he or she would enter the building and take a seat, which was designated by those who were inside.
Calista became the person in charge of registering the villagers. With her broad knowledge of the villagers, her registering was quite quick, which led to the first lesson starting early.
To start learning, knowing the basic alphabet was the first step.
So, the teacher in charge, who happened to be the introverted young master with a nice voice, started his lessons.
"Thank you, everyone, for coming. You can call me Ian and I will be one of your teachers in this period until further notice!" Ian soothingly introduced himself, earning the twinkling eyes of many.
Calista chuckles faintly after seeing that.
She just hoped that these maidens, especially, would be attentive to their lessons the same way they were towards a man.
Ian didn’t seem to mind the glances and resumed with the lessons.
"For your early lessons, we will be teaching you how to recognize the letters and ......" Ian addressed the students, informing them of their curriculum.
After all, learning something without knowing the direction didn’t sound productive and effective.
Sandboxes were placed in front of the students. For the first session, Calista had registered one hundred and ten people who came for the lessons, which was a great number for the first day.
In order to prepare for the early stages of lessons, Calista prepared sandboxes which would be used as practicing tools to learn how to write.
She had prepared papers as well, but it would be a waste to use them when people can’t even trace letters.
So, one hundred and ten sandboxes were quickly distributed to everyone inside the building.
The students during these two hours copied whatever Ian wrote on the board.
When he writes, the students would learn to write it down. During that process, Ian and the others would stroll around, checking how the students were doing and helping them in the process.
At the end of the two hours, fortunately, they managed to memorize that day’s five letters, which was a relief.
With the lessons done, Calista was obviously happy. She brought the teachers to her manor where lunch had been prepared already.
Now that she has a big house, she no longer needs to bring these people to the restaurant. Susan had a lot on her plate and several customers, which continued to increase with each passing day that needed serving.
Her servants were many, and they didn’t have much to do. So, letting them cook extra wasn’t that bad.
Besides, Diana and her crew were paying for their meals, or rather the ingredients, so it didn’t hurt much to spend so much time cooking.
After lunch, Calista returned to the workshop again and this time, a new group of people had come plus some old faces.
Calista chased away the students from the morning lesson.
She had informed them before that once their lesson was done, then it was over for that day.
And once they start with the morning lesson, it means unless something happens in the future, that would be their schedule alongside the students who came with them.
Which was why Calista insisted on registering everyone.
In the afternoon, the registration continued, and the number of attendees reached two hundred, which was quite a lot, even for the building itself.
In the end, Calista picked the first one hundred and ten people and had them attend the lesson, while the remaining ones had to start another lesson the next day.
With more people coming, Calista knew that she was going to open a third class, otherwise, she wouldn’t be able to fit everyone.
With three classes, even if others didn’t come anymore, she was content with that. Of course, she would hold a grudge in the future. She spent so much money to change their lives and yet they treat her like this. How can she not hold grudges?
