Chapter 97: This Does Not Work, Does It?
Draven gave a nod.
Avelina further probed, "Does that mean Loui will make the next move?"
"Yes. It’s time," Draven confirmed.
He began to speak as soon as the callee picked up, "Loui, head to the estate now. Do not waste even a moment. Make sure you do the job properly. No mistakes are allowed."
[Yes, Don]
Draven hung up the phone and took a deep breath.
"Will everything be fine?" Avelina inquired. She was feeling this heavy tension weighing down on her.
Draven nodded in assurance and ambled over to lie down on the bed. "Everything will be fine. Do not worry."
—
Loui’s loud voice reverberated across the mansion.
"Olive!!"
"I’m coming!!" Olive responded from the second floor. He arrived down the stairs in a matter of a few seconds to stand before Loui.
Loui grabbed the gloves on the table and wore them. Olive did the same, and they zipped the heavy clothing they wore.
It was still morning, therefore, to avoid the direct sunlight, they needed to wear heavy clothing and cover up completely.
Loui grabbed the bag on the table, and together with Olive, he exited the mansion.
"We’ll take my bike," Olive said.
Loui frowned at him. "Why?"
"It’s faster and preferable to me." Olive shrugged.
Loui shook his head, disagreeing. "I am not going to die with you. If you want to die, feel free, but don’t pull me along with you."
"Relax." Olive smirked at him. "I don’t plan to ride at a high-speed today. I know this mission is very important."
Loui was still a bit suspicious, but he eventually agreed to ride the bike with him. As he adjusted the bag on his lap, he held onto Olive.
"Are you good?" Olive asked.
Loui gave him a thumbs up and balanced his helmet.
Olive started the engine of the bike, rolled the handlebars, and slowly drove off onto the road. He raised the speed of the bike, and they sped down the empty road.
It took them about twenty minutes before they arrived at the estate, which had been bombed to ashes.
Olive slowed down and parked the bike. He turned off the engine, and Loui stepped down.
"Do you know where you discarded the equipment?" Loui inquired.
Olive nodded as he got off the bike. He took the helmet from Loui and hung it on the handlebar.
Together with Loui, he proceeded a few distances away from the estate ground and arrived close to a pothole.
"You dumped them here?" Loui asked.
Olive replied, "Yeah, I didn’t think anyone would come this far to look for it."
"Well, Don said that Mr. Bennet might. Better safe than sorry," Loui said, squatting down beside the large pothole. He reached for the gray bag that Olive had used back then and pulled it out.
"Is everything inside?" he inquired.
Olive nodded at him. "Yes. The gloves I wore as well."
Loui did not say another word. He stood up to his feet and changed into the body of the human he had impersonated while going to meet Draven. He took his gloves off and grabbed the ones that Olive had worn.
Olive frowned at him. "What are you doing?"
"Changing the DNA from yours to mine," Loui responded with a grin on his lips.
He wore the gloves and furiously began to rub his hands together.
Olive could only stand and watch him with interest.
Next, Loui went ahead to swap the equipment that Olive had used. He made sure to take his gloves off and leave his DNA on the equipment. He dumped the equipment as well as his gloves into the gray bag and dropped it back into the pothole.
He glanced at his coat and pulled off a button from it. He threw it to the floor and left it there.
Olive could not understand why he had done that. Was the button going to help in any way?
Loui could tell what was on his mind, so he said, "I really am confused as well, Olive, but this is what Don asked me to do. He was very specific on this button."
Olive blinked his eyes, unable to conclude anything.
Loui switched back to his real body. With the main equipment as well as Olive’s gloves stuffed in his bag, he left with Olive to return to the mansion. Amidst the ride, he made a call to Draven and informed him of the task that had been successfully completed.

...
Draven smiled willfully, his eyes fixed on the ceiling.
"Now watch and see what happens, Avelina," he said.
Avelina turned her head and looked at him. "My fingers are crossed."
"Why?" Draven inquired. "Is there a reason why you are crossing your fingers?"
Avelina nodded and explained, "Crossing your fingers is like a lucky sign. When you are desperately expecting something in a situation, you could cross your fingers like this and hope that luck falls on your side."
She lifted her hands and crossed her fingers to demonstrate.
Draven watched and imitated her.
"Hmm..." He crossed his fingers and wrinkled his brows. "This does not work, does it?"
"I can’t say it does, haha. But I guess if you believe it...it could possibly work. Avelina chuckled softly.
"I see..." Draven nodded. He took a deep breath and turned on his side. "I’m going to sleep, Avelina."
Avelina glanced at him. "Sleep well, Draven."
——
[7:25 pm]...
Lacking light, the once-blue sky turned dark.
At the window of a hall, Mr. Bennet stood, his gaze fixed on the half moon. He exhaled and turned around to exit the hall. Behind him, Aedion followed.
"Sir Bennet, may I ask where we are heading to?" Aedion inquired.
Without stopping or glancing at him, Mr. Bennet replied, "To the estate grounds. If I want crucial evidence, it has to be there. Starting anywhere else would be a waste of my time."
Aedion crinkled his brows.
"But the estate has been reduced to ashes. What evidence can we find there?"
