Chapter 78: And May I Ask Why?
Olive asked.
"Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be able to walk in the sun like humans and the royal family?"
Loui glowered and walked over to stand on the balcony.
"I guess it would feel nice. Then we wouldn’t have to hide from the sun and wear heavy clothes to keep us from burning."
Olive nodded. "It would. But then again, it is the only thing that humans have against us. If we could move in the sun, our strength would not be limited. The royal bloods sure are lucky."
"Mhm," Loui agreed. "But, why are you suddenly thinking of this? Is everything okay with you?"
"Yeah." Olive gave a nod. "I was just wondering, that’s all. It would feel very nice."
Loui stretched his hands. "Well, it’s not like there is anything we can do about it. If there was, attempts would probably be over a million."
Olive cackled, amused by his statement. "I agree, I agree."
"Oh, I forgot to tell you, but Lucien has been—" Loui’s phone suddenly rang before he could complete his words.
He grabbed the phone from his pocket and looked at the screen. He quickly answered.
"Don."
[Loui, where are you?]
"I am at Olive’s house? Is everything alright, Don?" Loui asked.
[Yes, everything is fine. I want you to come to the royal mansion]
Loui was taken aback. "What? W-why?"
He was baffled, as he knew that they weren’t allowed to come to the royal mansion due to the heavy risk that comes with their identity.
[I will let you know when you come. But, while coming, impersonate a random individual. Do not come in your real form]
"Oh...okay. I will be there." Loui brought the phone down once Draven hung up.
Olive’s head was tilted to the side. "What’s wrong?"
Loui shook his head at him. "Nothing, really. But Don wants me to come to the royal mansion."
"Huh? I thought we weren’t allowed in the royal mansion." Olive appeared perplexed.
"Indeed, but I think this must be important if Don is willing to ask me to impersonate."
Olive gave a nod, agreeing. "Let me know what the problem is when you return. Perhaps Don will let us know; I have not the slightest idea."
"Alright, I shall take my leave now." Loui patted his shoulder and walked off to exit the house.
Olive sighed and pressed the cigarette into a metal container. He left the living room for his room, a slight frown evident on his face.
——
A sleek black car suddenly parked near the royal mansion.
A young man, whose brown hair was permed, stepped down from the car. This man was Loui.
Unlike his usual overdressing, he was rather clad in a simple suit this time around. This was because he was impersonating a random person. He did not look like himself, as everything, including his eyes, hair, body stature, and even the way he walks, was different.
Above him was an umbrella he held, shielding himself from the sun.
"Dammit..." He exhaled as he pulled his phone out of the pocket of his suit.
He dialed Draven’s number and waited patiently as it rang.
[Loui]
"Don, I am close to the mansion," Loui said.
[Alright, once you arrive at the gate, Santino will be there to give you a royal pass card. This will allow you to walk into the royal mansion without being questioned by the royal guards. I need you to follow Santino through the general foyer so that they can all see you]
"What? W-why? I don’t understand. Shouldn’t I avoid attention?" Loui was very puzzled.
[No. I need them to see you. If possible, do everything you can to attract their attention, understand?]
Even though Loui was not sure why, he did not bother to ask any further. Draven definitely had his reasons for asking him to do that, which he is very sure of.
"Alright, Don."
Loui stuffed the phone into the pocket of his suit. He made his way to the gate and was immediately stopped.
"Halt!" a royal guard, heavily draped in black clothing from head to toe, shielding him from the sun, spoke. "Who are you?" he questioned.
Loui responded, "I am here to see his highness, the third prince."
He could see the guard’s eyes narrow instantly.
"May I see your royal pass?" the royal guard requested.
Loui smiled at him. He could not find Santino anywhere.
"Um, you see, I don’t have a royal pass yet. There is someone in there who is—"
"INTRUDER!!!" The royal guard abruptly clamored with the intention to raise an alarm, but he was immediately stopped by Santino, who arrived in the nick of time.
"Keep quiet! There is no need for you to raise an alarm. He is indeed a guest of the third prince." Santino’s brows were scrunched together.
It was obvious that the royal guard wanted to retort, but he could not retaliate as Santino was way higher in rank than him. By their law, if he dared commit such an act, his head would roll.
"My apologies," he said, slightly bowing his head.
Santino scoffed. He was very aware that the idiot tried to raise an alarm because Loui mentioned the third prince. If he had mentioned any of the other princes, he would have interviewed them further before even thinking of raising awareness of the situation.
He averted his gaze to Loui and handed him a golden yellow card with unique imprints on it. This was the royal pass with which an outsider is granted permission to step into the royal mansion.
"Open the gates," he ordered.
The royal guard nodded and opened the gate.
Loui stepped in, and with a polite gesture, Santino had him follow behind him. They made it to the entrance, but the royal guard at the door stopped them.
"Is there a problem?" Santino asked.
The royal guard gave him a quick bow. "My apologies for interrupting, sir, but your friend here will be searched."
Santino deeply scowled.
"And may I ask why?"
