A Game Of Chess With A Vampire
Chapter 75: You’re Such A Coward!

Chapter 75: You’re Such A Coward!

At this point, Natasha was tightly clenching her hands into fists, causing her knuckles to turn way more pale than they already were.

Ryan, who was pacing back and forth, stopped and turned to look at her.

"Natasha, how sure are you that she did it?" he questioned.

Natasha drew her head back, holding a look of disbelief. "What do you mean by that?"

Ryan took a deep breath. Anyone who looked at him could tell that he was somewhat fed up with Natasha’s nagging.

"What I mean is, I don’t want you to accuse someone without evidence. I understand that you do not like her, and neither do I, but I don’t believe that she did it. She is not capable of it," he specified.

"What do you mean, "She is not capable of it?" Natasha asked. Irritation was written all over her face. "My love, don’t tell me that you are starting to have an eye for—"

"Watch your mouth, Natasha! That is very disgusting of you to say!" Ryan warned, his tone no longer sounding as soft as it did before.

Natasha immediately went silent. She batted her lashes, and her eyes watered, indicating she was about to cry.

"Natasha, what is this? Are you seriously crying?" Ryan was at a loss for words at this point. He rubbed his temples to calm himself down and smiled at her. "Listen, I am sorry for yelling at you. I didn’t mean to. I just didn’t like what—"

"Why shouldn’t I say it, Ryan? I don’t understand why you don’t want to believe me!" Natasha burst into tears.

Ryan’s mouth was agape in confusion. He was stressed out, and not wanting to push the misunderstanding any further, he said, "It is not that I don’t want to believe you, but your words just don’t make any damn sense! She is a fucking human! What the hell do you think she can do? She is just a slave that that bastard bought! You are thinking too highly of her."

Natasha retorted, "I am not! I know she did it, and I will keep telling you that. Don’t forget, she stole my necklace! What else do you think she cannot do?"

"And so what?" Ryan asked. "That is just a necklace. Sweetheart, this is a whole royal estate. Do you know what it takes to bomb it?"

"It does not matter!" Natasha was retaliating in an infuriating manner.

"She did it, and I know it. I don’t know how, but she is the only one that would be so spiteful to do that."

Ryan pinched between his brows, not even sure what to say to her anymore.

"Fine! I will look into it, and if I find out that she is responsible, I will get rid of her myself."

Natasha immediately disagreed with a shake of her head. "No! You don’t need to find out for yourself. That’s a waste of time, and I cannot wait that long! Just believe me, my love, please. I am your wife!"

Ryan grabbed her shoulder and took a deep breath. "Yes, you are my wife, and as much as I want to believe you, Natasha, I cannot do that. This is a big deal, and I need to be sure with proof in hand. So please, just be patient, okay?" he pleaded with her.

"If I do anything reckless and it turns out not to be true, do you know how much trouble I will be in?"

Natasha scrunched her face, disgusted, and pushed his hands off. "You’re such a coward!"

"Instead of hearing your wife out and doing something to bring her justice, you are worried about how much trouble you will be in. How would you get into trouble? She is responsible for it!" She scoffed and stormed over to sit on the bed.

Ryan stared at her with disappointment written all over his face. "I can’t believe you, Natasha. You are just... something else."

He left the room, shutting the door.

Natasha gazed at the door. She could tell that Ryan was not only disappointed but also hurt by her words.

"I will make sure you see hell, you wench!" Her teeth were clenched in vexation.

Avelina, who was reading, suddenly stopped.

She looked over at Draven, who was fast asleep.

It’s so boring when he is asleep. She sighed at the level of boredom she felt.

Avelina shut the book and stood up from the sofa. She strolled to the door and slightly opened it.

"Music..." From a distance, she could hear the sounds of the piano.

Who could be playing? Weren’t they all asleep?

Although Avelina didn’t think she should check, the curiosity to know consumed her. The music was heavenly.

Avelina exited the room, shutting the door as silently as she could. She proceeded down the hall until she arrived at the grand foyer.

Her eyes darted around, and she listened to hear in what particular direction the music was coming from.

Left! Avelina took a left turn, and the closer her steps were, the heavier the music sounded.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Avelina was standing in front of a door. From within the room behind this door, she could clearly hear the sound of this music. It was a piano melody.

Thinking of it now, she realized that the only time she had ever heard music since coming to this place was at her wedding ceremony. But the melody she was hearing at this moment was different. It was soft, heartbreaking, and pleasant to the ears.

Subconsciously, Avelina pressed her ear against the door. She dared not open the door, as she was unaware of who could possibly be playing such a melody. Indeed, the music was nice, but what if the pianist is a bloodthirsty vampire?

The music suddenly stopped. A frown instantly settled on Avelina’s forehead.

What happened? She was confused, so she pressed her ear harder against the door, trying to understand what was going on.

A startled gasp fled her mouth in the next moment when the door abruptly pushed open. She almost fell if not for the person who had opened the door, grabbing hold of her.

Avelina lifted her head, and her eyes met Valentine’s.

"Hello, sister-in-law. What are you doing here?"
