Chapter 74: Is This For Your Revenge Too?

First of all, anyone with a strong sense of smell would immediately realize that Olive was slightly reeked of smoke. Yes, the meals being served in the restaurants camouflaged it, but it still didn’t escape him.

His sense of smell was higher than the rest, giving him the advantage of retaining the smell of anyone, even if it was just a few seconds or minutes of the meeting.

Last night, when Olive walked into the restaurant, he was able to tell that Olive was there due to the smell that he had retained. It was possible because they had met before, at the ceremony.

Now, not only did Olive smelt of smoke, but his white shirt was also smeared with ashy dirt, hinting at the fact that he had been in a place where something was burning. He was very sure that even Olive himself did not notice the ash, as even his hair was a bit colored by it.

Last but not least, his shoes were way too dirty for someone who had left his house on a bike and arrived at the restaurant. This concluded that he had been somewhere else before making his way to the restaurant right from there.

"So, Olive works for you? I see, I see." Valentine chuckled.

He needn’t confirm this because, from his conversation with Olive earlier that morning, he could tell that Olive had some sort of connection with Draven. His expression whenever he spoke of Draven was not that of someone who had no idea who was being talked about.

Also, as crazy as it may sound, he did overhear what Olive had muttered then concerning how messed up both he and his older brother had been. He may have acted like he didn’t hear it completely, but this was because he wanted Olive to repeat his words.

To be honest, he did have his suspicions, but he needed a lot more to convince himself and come to a conclusion.

"Frère..." Valentine’s tone was hushed. "I wonder how many more pawns you have out there that no one has an idea about."

"Hmm. Although I don’t think Olive is a pawn. His energy is too powerful to be a pawn. A rook perhaps?" He wasn’t very sure.

"Oh, lord, I want to find out. My heart is racing! I am so thrilled by all this. Tsk! You keep going one step ahead of me, brother! At this point, I am starting to wonder if I can ever catch you and stand face-to-face with you."

A heavy, exhausted groan exited his throat. "I wonder who will be the next victim?"

Valentine stood up from the chair and walked over to another part of the wall. He pushed open the curtain, revealing a wall with every single photo of the whole family pasted on it.

He rolled the dart in between his fingers and swiftly threw it. The dart struck none other than Natasha’s photo.

Slowly and awfully, a grin spread across Valentine’s face.

"You know, I don’t feel like getting any sleep at all. Shall I play the piano?" He was speaking as though someone was in the room with him.

A soft chuckle escaped from him, and he strolled over to his piano. He sat down and began to play a melody that he had written himself.

"Let’s see who wins at the end of this game. Hahaha. I have my bet on a special someone."

——-

Avelina looked at Draven with deep worry.

"What is it?" Draven asked.

Avelina paced back and forth and suddenly stopped. "Draven, what if they find out you are responsible for it? What will you do?"

"Nothing." Draven shrugged, not at all concerned. "So what if they find out? They can’t do anything about it."

"What do you mean by that?" Avelina was confused. Surely, old Master Lenort will not let him off, right?

"They can’t do anything means they can’t do anything about it. Also, I guarantee you that they could never figure it out. However, there is one person who I believe is aware," Draven said.

Avelina sat down on the sofa opposite him. "Who?"

"Valentine," Draven replied.

Avelina was not very convinced. Her brows were raised in skepticism. "How do you know that?"

Draven rested back on the chair and crossed his legs. "I could already tell from his eyes. The way he looked at me while we were walking off said it all. Valentine is very smart and intelligent if you don’t know. He is the only one I am cautious about."

Avelina was surprised. She had never heard Draven speak of someone in that way, so she is very sure that he meant what he said. But... doesn’t this put him in a tight spot? I mean, since Valentine is aware, he might tell the old master, right? She was beginning to get worried.

"Draven, what if he tells your father?"

"That’s his cup of tea." Draven shrugged. "As I said, they can’t do anything about it. Just watch, and you will see why I said so. I didn’t just bomb the estate for one reason, I did it for another reason as well."

Avelina was at a loss for words. "Is this for your revenge too?"

Draven raised his brow at her. "No, but it is the first step. To get sweet revenge, Avelina, you need to take it slow and don’t force it. This is like paving the way to take a second step towards it."

Avelina did not understand. She had so many questions, but she just had no idea what to even ask or what to say.

———-

BAM!!

The heavy slam of a door resounded.

"She did it, Ryan! I am sure of it!" Natasha yelled, scowling. Her facial muscles twitched slightly, Hinting that she was not just annoyed but angry as well.

Ryan wasn’t listening to her, and it was infuriating her. Why was he doubting her? It was clear that it was Avelina! She had never had problems with anyone apart from Avelina, so who else could it be? It’s not like anyone would bomb a royal property. They dare not!

"Ryan!"
