Chapter 60: That Is Impossible!

Chapter 60: That Is Impossible!

Draven’s eyes were vicious.

"I am not going to let it go. Since she accused her of stealing a worthless necklace that I can buy hundreds of, I will make her cry."

Loui blinked his lashes and smiled in disbelief.

"Don...that’s petty."

"Is it?" Draven asked.

Loui chuckled. "Kind of."

"But she hurt my wife. It is only right that I pay her back for it. Although it may be petty, I don’t mind." Draven shrugged.

"I see." Loui still felt amused. He had never seen this petty side of Draven.

"Ah, Pierre, I want you to keep track of Natasha and Ryan’s activities," Draven assigned.

Pierre nodded. "Yes, Don."

"Now, let’s hope the heavens favor her. If she bites into my hook this time around, I won’t spare her." Draven’s words carried a heavy amount of lethality.

"You’re all dismissed." He waved a hand of dismissal at them.

They respectively bowed to him and exited the mansion together.

"Don is really full of surprises." Loui laughed.

Pierre agreed. "I never knew he was petty, haha."

"His pettiness is valid," Olive chirped in.

Lucien, who was walking beside him, glared at him. "Shut up! You are just happy because you have an estate to bomb."

"Shameless woman!!" Olive cursed without sparing her a glance.

The rest were a bit behind while watching them banter with each other.

"Will these two ever be friends?" Ava wondered.

Loui shook his head. "Not in our wildest dreams. They hate each other."

"Um...Loui." As soon as Ava and Prince strolled off to the car, Pierre pulled Loui back.

Loui glanced at him with a bit of perplexity. "What’s wrong?"

"I have been wondering what Don could have figured out for him to lay out this trap for Lady Natasha. I mean, Don isn’t someone who kills easily. He always has a strong, valid reason," Pierre said.

"Well." Loui thought about it. "I have been wondering the same as well, and you are right. There is definitely something that he has figured out. Maybe he just doesn’t want to tell us yet. Maybe we just have to watch and see. I am sure we will find out sooner or later. Let’s just trust him."

Pierre stayed silent for a few moments before nodding. "Yeah, let’s trust him. I am just a bit worried."

"Don’t bother about it." Loui patted his shoulder. "Don is a very careful man."

Pierre concurred, and they began to stroll off toward the car, however, Pierre delayed a bit. He turned his head and glanced at the mansion.

A soft sigh fled his nose, and he moved on to the car.

...

Inside the mansion.

Seated on the sofa in his master bedroom with crossed legs and his head thrown backward, Draven tapped his thighs in thought.

He suddenly snapped out of his drifting thoughts the moment he began to sneeze uncontrollably. He touched his nose, and a frown settled in between his brows.

Who is thinking of me? He was bewildered. What could the person be thinking of to make him sneeze this much?

——

Avelina paced back and forth in the room.

She had not been able to sleep due to worry, and waking up now after the sleep she forced herself to get, she realized that Draven was still not back.

She had been perturbed because he did not tell her where he was going, and it was already five in the morning.

Maybe... I should call him. She wasn’t sure if she should.

Maybe she is just overthinking it because she doesn’t like the idea of being left alone.

Avelina bit her lower lip in deep thought. She reluctantly grabbed her phone from the table and eventually made the decision to call him. She dialed his number and waited for him to pick up.

[Back At The Estate]

Resting on the sofa in his master bedroom, Draven blinked his lashes apart the second he felt his phone vibrate in the pocket of his pants.

He pulled it out, looked at the screen to see who was calling, and at the glimpse of Avelina’s name, he quickly answered.

"Avelina, is everything okay?"

[Y-yes. Uh, I was worried...that is why I am calling.]

"Oh..." Draven was surprised. He thought something had happened to her. What a relief.

Then he asked, "Why would you worry, though?"

[Eh, you didn’t tell me where you were going, and it’s already morning, yet you haven’t come back. I was... wondering if you were okay or if maybe something had happened. I couldn’t sleep all night either. I was apprehensive and...also a bit unsettled about being left here alone]

Wh... Draven squinted his eyes. He was dormant, no longer able to utter a word.

[Draven. Draven, are you oka—]

Draven subconsciously hung up the phone. He darted his gaze around with cluelessness written all over his face.

Slowly, he grabbed his chest, able to hear his heart beating loudly. What was wrong with him? Why was his heart beating, and loudly at that?

This feeling again... Draven muttered to himself. Just now, before he hung up the phone, he had felt his heart skip a beat, just like it did the last time.

Was there something wrong with him that he had no idea about? Could something be off with his heart? He furiously shook his head.

"That is impossible!"

Draven stood up from the sofa, wore his coat, and left the room. He hurried downstairs and exited the building to board his car.

Avelina gazed at the screen of her phone, conflicted.

Why did he hang up the call? Did I say something wrong? She pondered.

She has tried calling him back a few more times, but he was not picking up at all.

Unable to figure it out or come to a conclusion, Avelina walked to the table and sat down on the chair. She began to fiddle with her phone, and when she still couldn’t think of anything, she groaned in annoyance and rested her head on the table.

Maybe I should wait for his return. Avelina decided as she deeply sighed.

Ten to fifteen minutes passed by, and Avelina somehow ended up falling asleep due to weariness.

The doorknob suddenly turned, and the door creaked open. Draven stepped inside and shut the door behind him. He began to take his coat off, but at the sight of Avelina, who was asleep at the table, he ceased what he was doing.
