Chapter 45: Damn You, Loui!!
Chapter 45: Damn You, Loui!!
"I saw a bookstore down there, and it’s huge!" Avelina replied with her head stuck out the window. She could still glimpse the height and roof of the building.
"Oh..." Draven slightly agreed with a slight nod of his head. "That is the largest bookstore we have," he said.
Avelina’s smile widened, displaying her whitish teeth. She gasped in the next second when she felt Draven grab her by the collar of her coat.
"Don’t stick your head out, Avelina. Vampires can easily smell a human scent, so you could get hurt." Draven sat her down and ruffled her hair to adjust it.
Avelina slowly nodded with an apologetic smile. She took a soft breath and inquired, "May I ask where we are going?"
"To meet some people," Draven responded.
"Oh...I see..." Avelina gave a nod and asked no further questions.
After a few more minutes of driving, Draven finally slowed down the car. He took a turn and stopped in front of a tall, black gate.
The bodyguard, standing guard like a statue, gave a deep bow and pulled open the gate.
Draven drove through the archway and into the vast courtyard. He parked in the circular driveway and stepped down. He walked over to the other side and opened the door for Avelina.
Avelina reached to unlock the seat belt, but Draven beat her to it. He gently grabbed her hand and helped her out of the car.
Avelina’s eyes scanned the surroundings.
Where is this place? She wondered inwardly.
Draven locked the car and said to her, "Let’s go."
Avelina immediately hurried beside him, and they approached the massive mansion with a towering roof and dozens of windows that reflected the light of the moon and stars.
The bodyguard standing at the entrance deeply bowed to him and opened the door.
Draven stepped into the expensive-looking large foyer with Avelina, and they made a halt in the luxurious, fine living room. The first thing they were met with was a man facing backward while screaming at another man that stood in front of him.
"You are so disgusting, you make me want to regurgitate!" the man, who was Olive, shouted, enraged.
Loui, who stood in front of him, drew his back, offended. "What is your problem, Olive?"
"I do not have a problem!" Olive glared at him with rage-filled eyes. "You are a man whore, and you possess little to no decorum!"
He continued, "You know, nobody cares if you are a sex addict or not, Loui, but common! Can you be less selfish and be a little bit considerate?"
"We all live together in this mansion, but you are unwilling to respect yourself!" he yelled at him, deeply dissatisfied. "Stop bringing in prostitutes into this place and fucking go to a brothel!"
Loui quickly shook his head at him. "No way! I can’t do that, and you—"
"SHUT UP!" Olive scowled at him. "You are not listening."
"Look, her screams are unbearable, and you guys never keep it down at all. Even Lucien and the rest can agree with me." He pointed it out.
Loui lifted his head and glanced at Lucien and the rest, who were watching them from the balcony of the second floor. In response, they shrugged their shoulders, agreeing with Olive.
A deep breath fled Loui’s nose, and he proceeded to speak, but at the sudden sight of Draven and Avelina, whose jaw had fallen in confusion, his eyes dilated.
"Don!" he clamored.
Lucien and the rest jolted in fear; they hadn’t expected Draven to be there.
"Shit!"
"Damn you, Loui!"
They muttered as they hurried down the stairs.
In accordance with their rankings, they lined up, including Olive, who had turned around. Respectfully, they bowed their heads, and Loui gritted his teeth, very sure that Draven had seen and heard all that.
"Bonsoir, Don," they greeted in unison.
"Bonsoir," Draven responded in acknowledgment, his face expressionless.
They slowly straightened up, with a few of them having an awkward smiles on their lips.
"What is going on here?" Draven asked.
"Loui brings in prostitutes, and she screams so loudly that it frustrates us," one of them, a young girl with a wave of lustrous white hair, answered.
Lucien, who stood beside her, instinctively slapped her head, shutting her up.
The girl looked at her with a serious frown on her face and questioned, "What was that for?"
"Lucien!" Draven glowered, starting to get annoyed by their behavior.
Lucien quickly smiled at him in remorse. "My apologies, Don."
Draven took a deep breath and looked at Loui. "Loui, this is a home, where you live with other people. It is not a brothel, so be considerate."
Loui nodded his head in understanding. "I apologize, Don."
Draven looked at the rest of them and glanced at Avelina.
"These are the people that I wanted to introduce you to," he said.
Avelina scrutinized them and totalled them up to six people. Four men and two ladies
"This is Loui. He is my bishop, and his ability is to shapeshift into images of different people," Draven introduced.
"It is a pleasure of mine to show you, my lady." Loui smiled and instantly, shapeshfited into Olive, leaving two Olive’s in the room.
Olive muttered with a grumpy expression, "I do not like this."
"Oh..." Avelina was startled. Her expression was enough to show it. This man could literally steal somebody else’s identity.
Draven continued, "Next to Loui is Pierre, your bishop. His ability is to use the powers of others as his own when he is in close contact with them."
"Nice to meet you, my lady," Pierre, a man with short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a neat-looking beard, spoke. He touched Loui to exemplify to her what Draven meant.
"Oh, wow!" Avelina appeared impressed.
"Next is Olive. He is my rook, and his ability is to control any living, breathing thing. Objects are not exempted," Draven introduced.
"It is nice to meet you, my lady." For the first time in a while, Olive smiled. Then he proceeded to show his ability.
Avelin beamed at him. Unlike the others with pale white skin, he was rather light-skinned, leaving him less pale. Not only that, but he was really, really handsome too.
"Nice to meet you too," she said, her lips curving into a lovely smile.
