Chapter 415: Bounded, Intertwined, Soulmates...
Valentine knelt, staring at him. Slowly, he stood up to his feet, turned around, and walked to the edge of the sky tower.
"Don’t reach for my hand, Olive. That way, you won’t have to let go." He spared such a charming last smile at him, cackling. "In my next life...Olive, my heart would be yours once again." With one last look at the Milky Way, he spread his arms as if a free bird and slipped off the edge of the tower.
Off he fell and began to head for the ground, quite far away.
"VALENTINE!!!!" Olive, with eyes widened in horror, rushed off, and without thinking, he jumped off the tower and began to fall after him.
At that moment, Valentine, whose eyes had sprung open at the sound of his name, widened in shock. Olive...fell after him? He’d never expected that. A glimmer of awe flickered in his emerald pupils. He was sure he’d glimpsed an angel—one reaching out to him.
"Aren’t you my light and salvation?" A genuine, charming smile spread across his face, and he shut his eyes, a look of relief spreading across his face. "An angel like you shouldn’t fly down to hell with me..." he trailed off.
"VALENTINE!!!" The moment Olive, who was still falling after him, got close, he snatched him, wrapped his arms around him, and hugged him ever so tightly and warmly.
Valentine’s soft voice echoed in his ears. "Olive...why?"
Olive shook her head at him. "No! I know and I understand. It does not matter at all, please."
Valentine chuckled cynically. He heaved a saddened sigh and reached his hand over to caress Olive’s hair.
"We are about to die, Olive."
"I know! So please don’t leave me alone. Don’t leave me. Hold me and stay with me. Two of us...let’s die together," Olive begged. "I can’t lose you. Everyone is gone, like you said. There is no point if you leave me too. I need you to stay with me, even if it has to be in death. So, yes, we are about to die."
He spread his wings out, hoping to slow down their momentum, but he gritted his teeth, utterly weakened with no ounce of strength in him due to Valentine having drank nearly every drop of blood he had in him.
He sobbed uncontrollably, wishing deep in his heart that he could turn back time. Do something to prevent all the horrible things that have happened and correct so many mistakes.
His tears dropped onto Valentine’s face, and he hugged him even tighter before using his wings to embrace the both of them.
"Let’s meet in the next life, okay? As soulmates, yes?" he voiced, causing Valentine to flutter his eyes open.
Valentine agreed. "Mhm, in another life, we will meet, definitely. One way or the other, with a happy ending..." His lips curled into a warm smile.
A lovely light glittered in his bright green pupils, and he exhaled softly in relief, eventually falling to his death with Olive.
It was...relieving...they’d died...happily.
——
Now in the room, Lucien stood staring at Ava, who had killed herself, committing suicide.
With the last resolve she had, she’d taken everyone’s corpse, burying them by herself. It’d turned out that Draven and Avelina’s bodies were impossible to separate; this included Olive and Valentine. So she’d done nothing but bury each of them together.
"I’m...all alone. I’m left...all alone."Lucien, mumbling to herself, knelt in front of their graves.
"We were all family. We were all supposed to...to be together, but you all left me alone," she began to cry, covering her mouth.
She clutched her heart, her shoulders rising and falling in heavy breathing.
"Ava..." Lucien looked at Ava’s grave. "Prince...Pierre...Olive...Valentine..." She sniffled, glancing at each of their graves. "Loui... Lady-lady Avelina..."
She crawled over beside Avelina’s grave on the muddy ground to touch Draven’s grave
"D-don." Lucien broke down completely, sobbing profusely. "You took me in when no one was willing to. You took care of me; you treated me well as if I were your little sister. You gave me everything I wanted—anything I could ever ask for—and I was going to pay you back someday with all I had. But how am I supposed to do that now?"
"You are gone! All of you left me alone in this cruel world. How can I live alone without any of you? What do I do? Someone, tell me, please." She was begging, desperate for an answer.
Lucien began to hiccup, and her cries slowed. She took out the gun she’d come with and began to smile cynically.
"To be honest, life is useless without you all. I don’t even have a reason to live anymore. There is utterly nothing to live for. I would just cause myself pain and misery if I lived. So I would rather be with all of you in hell, heaven, or wherever it is. Together, like a family, hahahaha." She laughed heartily and pointed the gun at her head.
"All of you, please wait for me. Don’t cross over to the other side without me, please." Her fingers trembled, and as quickly as she could, she pulled the trigger, her eyes tightly shut.
One bullet fired; it penetrated, piercing through her skull. The gun slipped from her grip, and her body plummeted to the muddy ground.
Gradually, but happily, Lucien bled to death, her life flickering away from her. By the side, her soul watched her empty shell with a smile.
She turned, and right there they were all waiting for her. She could see each and every one of them reaching out their hands to her with an inviting smile as if they’d heard her plea.
Together, they crossed over, and perhaps they would luckily meet in a new life like they all wanted.
Olive piggy-backed Valentine, who was laughing heartily. Draven was carrying Avelina in a bridal style. She was giggling, kicking her feet like a little child. Everyone was following behind them, heading for the bright light ahead of them. All...except Loui. Where had he gone? No one could tell. Why hadn’t he followed? No one had a clue.
...
One’s betrayal ruined not one life, not two, not three, but many precious ones that could have possibly lived far happier lives as one big family.
In the end, was it all worth it? The sole reason for such action and incident was death, leaving nothing but everything to be in vain.
In another life, the two unfortunate souls would meet again, along with two other males. But this time, as humans, utterly devoid of hardships. One could say they were the luckiest individuals on earth.
Perchance, they would be the happiest souls on earth, and yes, they would recognize each other just like they each promised. One by touch, as they promised, and the other by mark, as they’d each given each other.
Their hearts would connect and dance like the wind does upon the ocean waves.
They were indeed soulmates in every single universe that could possibly exist—in heaven, on earth, wherever it could possibly be. They were bound at death and in life.
Two souls as one...
Even if it were to be in hell, they were intertwined souls, bound together always and forever, in every single lifetime.
