Chapter 407: P-prince...
"Ava..." Prince grabbed her shoulders, staring into her eyes.
"P-prince, why are you looking at me like that? What is going on? You are not going to—"
He pulled her into a warm brotherly hug before she could even complete her words.
"Je t’aime beaucoup," he said to her, caressing her hair as if it could possibly be the last hug she would ever get from him.
Ava could feel it, the sadness brewing in him. He’d told her he loved her. Why? He needn’t tell her, because they were siblings—they had always loved each other after all. Why? Was he leaving? It couldn’t possibly be. This cannot be the last hug either.
"No." She shook her head at him, gripping him tighter. "No, you can’t leave, Prince. You can’t leave me!" Hot tears began to fall from her eyes.
Prince pulled back to stare at her eyes. He cupped her cheek in his palm and gently began to caress her face, wiping her tears off in the process.
"Je ne vais pas mourir. Je reviendrai vers to," he said, smiling so genuinely at her. "Je promets."
Finally, he let go and before Ava could even protest, he made himself invisible to the eyes, hurrying off to infiltrate the royal mansion. Saving Draven was the top priority.
Ava tried to run after him, but Lucien grabbed her, holding her back.
"Ava, please calm down, Prince will be alright. He will not die, please," she begged, struggling to hold her in place.
But Ava struggled. "No, Lucien, you don; ’t understand. I can feel it, I can feel it!"
"Please let go of me, I need to help my brother, I need him to be safe!!" She shouted desperately, falling to her knees.
Lucien hugged her tightly, holding her down to calm her. "I know, Ava, but you going in might make things worse. Let’s wait, okay? Let’s wait for him to open the gate for us."
Ava was still unwilling, but she could only kneel in Lucien’s arms sobbing uncontrollably.
....
Prince did successfully make it into the mansion. He moved through the foyer out of everyone’s sight, searching for a way to get to the keys of the gate. He moved from one open room to another, frustration starting to eat him up.
Where was he to begin? If he had to scout the entire mansion to find the keys to the gate, then he really was done for. But what can he do? They needed to save Draven and that was a—-
AHHHHH!!!
A bone-chilling cry, he’d never heard before, sounded and he quickly whipped his head to the direction the cry came from.
"Lady Avelina!" He explained. That was Avelina’s voice, he was absolutely sure of it. What was going on?
Without haste, Prince changed his objective and rushed towards the direction that Avelina’s cry came from. The closer he got, the louder it got and he only came to a stop, the second he found the source.
It was a hall—a huge open one.
Slowly, Prince approached the hall, stepping inside, and at the sight of what was unfolding within this hall, he came to a shocking halt, his body trembling.
On the floor, Avelina was in her own pull of blood, her hands holding onto Draven. She was breathing faintly, enduring the knife that Old Master Lenort had thrust into her back.
As if that was not enough, he knelt on the floor, twisting the knife and causing Avelina to scream in agony.
"Stop it, I’m begging you. Please...stop hurting her," Draven who was on the line that separated life and death pleaded, his body unwilling to move. "Please...I’m the one you want to hurt, right? Stop hurting my wife....she’s...she’s..." he breathed heavily, utterly running out of breath.
Avelina shook her head at him. "No...Draven, I’m fine. I’m really fi—" She spurted out the mouthful of blood that had built up in her throat and began to cough frantically.
Old Master Lenort laughed.
"You two really amuse me, you know." He twisted the knife again, causing Avelina to throw her head back, shouting in agony. Her cries could be heard all over the mansion, so much so that Aurora and Liliana who was in hiding with Lumian would flinch each time.
They could not even begin to imagine what Draven and Avelina could possibly be going through.
Prince who was watching with a trembling body and disbelief flickering in his eyes, balled his hands into a tight fist.
If he could just reach forward and slit Old Master’s lenort’s throat, it would all be over. He was invisible, so it would definitely be too late before the old man could possibly notice him.
With that in mind, Prince moved at the speed of light, lifting his sharp nails to slit Old Master Lenort’s throat and finish him off, but unfortunately for him, it turned out that the old man had noticed him the second he arrived at that hall. He just chose not to react, waiting for Prince to reveal himself.
He caught Prince by the neck, letting go of the knife still thrust into Avelina’s back. "Hmm...one of your pawns? Is he here to save you?" Old Master Lenort laughed, tightening his grip on Prince’s neck and causing him to cough in utter struggle.
Prince, who was forced to reveal himself, did so and the second he came into sight, Old Master Lenort stretched out his nails, and punched him in the stomach. His nails pierced Prince’s stomach brutally and he pushed in deeper, wanting to make sure he killed him with that one blow.
Lots of blood rushed to Prince’s throat and he puked, vomiting blood. Old Master Lenort flung him to the floor, absolutely thrilled by how things were unfolding. He wouldn’t just be killing Draven and Avelina, but he would eliminate every pawn of his.
Prince hit the floor with a heavy thud, a low groan escaping from him.
"P-prince..." Avelina turned, reaching out her hand to him.
