Chapter 405: Let. Me. Out!

Chapter 405: Let. Me. Out!

"You must be wondering why you are still alive, are you not?" A familiar voice that belonged to Ryan asked, causing Draven to lift his head.

He didn’t say a word to him but just watched him approach him with Lestat and a pair of scissors in his hand. What was it for? To kill him?

Ryan stood in front of him, while Lestat stood by the side, both smiling.

"My dear little brother, do you know how long we’ve waited for this day?" He asked and began to laugh. "Almost eternity, honestly. We thought at some point that this day wouldn’t come to light, but who knew that all it took was for someone you trusted to betray you."

"What do you want?" Draven asked, his expression unimpressed.

Ryan’s lip curved into a grin. "Oh, nothing much." He shrugged. "We are here to make your life a living hell. We’ll have fun with you before Father finally kills you!"

With that being said, Ryan snatched a chunk of his hair, so harshly, that Draven’s face crinkled in the bone-chilling pain he felt in his scalp.

Lestat joined in, pulling so hard and having him stare at the ceiling, at the direct light above.

"The light hurts your useless eyes, right? When you stare for too long and that is why you wear those stupid glasses. It is not just because you want to hide those unpleasant eyes, your eyesight has some little problem with the lights." Ryan burst into laughter, utterly enjoying what they were doing to him.

Indeed, Draven’s eyes were weak to the light, and thus another reason why he wears glasses. This was to reduce the effect the light had on his eyes.

Deep breaths exited his nose and he attempted to close his eyes off the blinding light, but Ryan and Lestat wouldn’t let him.

"Uh uh...you can’t close those eyes now, little brother. Let those lights burn your lenses! I want you to feel agonizing pain, so much that you wouldn’t be able to forget it even in your next life." Ryan gave the scissors in his hold to Lestat. "Cut his hair short."

While Lestat dis as he was told, Ryna saw to it that Draven’s eyes were gripped wide open. The light burned so much that his eyes began to bleed, blood streaming down his face. He was groaning in pain, pulling on the chain to free himself, but it only made things worse as the chain put him through even worse pain.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! This is what I want! Being blind would fit you, it really will, brother." Ryan was utterly pleased. "But you see, this will not be enough to blind you!"

"If you beg, we might just pity you and let this one slide, hm?" Lestat proposed a wide grin on his lips.

But Draven wasn’t going to. Even on the verge of death, he would never attempt such. He would rather still die with pride—one he’d built for himself after constant humiliation and torture since he was a little boy.

He raised his blood-filled eyes to the door at the sound of familiar footsteps to see Old Master Lenort approaching.

"Boys...that’s enough. Give your brother just a moment to breathe." His lips stretched into a wide smile, his gaze shifting to Draven who was staring at him with blurry eyes.

Draven gave no reaction but just knelt, peering at him with an emotionless face and eyes.

——

Avelina who’d been knocked unconscious awoke to the sound of someone screaming painfully as though they were being tortured. It was the voice she knew all too well.

Draven!

"Draven? Draven!!" Avelina quickly rushed down from the bed and ran to the door. She turned the door handle, wanting to open it, but that’s when she realized it was locked. She’d been locked in there with no way to escape.

What about Santino? Had he been taken too?

"Santino! Santino! Please open the door, please, I beg you," she pleaded, but no response came.

This was because, as the kind of man Santino was, he’d gone, wanting to save Draven, but he had unfortunately been killed by Ryan, who shot him, per Old Master Lenort’s order. They left him afterward to bleed to death with no one to come to his aid.

Avelina hit her hands on the door, pulling the handle frantically, all to no avail.

"Let me out! Let me out of here!" She struggled, putting in so much effort to escape the room, but it all came down to nothing, because as weak as she was, she couldn’t seem to break down the door.

But...was she truly weak?

From a room distant from the one she was in, Draven’s heart-wrenching scream of pain sounded, causing her to jolt immediately. She slowly flickered her lashes, her hazel eyes watering up.

"Draven..."

What....were they doing to him? She’d never heard Draven cry out in such a way before. What were they doing to him? What hell were they putting him through that he couldn’t endure anymore?

"Let me out of here! Let me out!!!" Avelina screamed, angrily beginning to pull on the door, wanting to break off the hinge. But that wasn’t working. "Let me out of here!!! Let. Me. Out!!!"

She angrily began to kick the door continuously as though she were a mad person. She wasn’t crying audibly, but tears were streaming down her face non-stop.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Avelina didn’t stop kicking the door, to the extent that her legs cramped and even her eyes turned awfully red without her knowledge. Fortunately for her, she finally managed to break down the door, plausibly because of the fact she was no longer just human. Even her senses had been heightened including her strength ever since being turned.

She watched with a cold face and teary eyes as the door fell to the ground with a heavy thud.

Not wasting any more time, she rushed out of the room, hurrying to the hall where Draven’s voice was coming from. The guards she passed after had begun chasing her, but she didn’t stop because she needed to get to Draven—she needed to get to him.

But perhaps, staying back would have been better, because what was going on in the hall was something, not even a nightmare could amount to.

Avelina came to a halt in the hall, her chest rising and falling in heavy breathing. Her jaw slowly fell as her eyes blew as wide as a saucer, her body trembling uncontrollably in horror.
