Chapter 399: What Is Going On?
Chapter 399: What Is Going On?
Lumian had locked the door of the room to keep him from leaving. Their father was furious and without a doubt, the royal mansion was no longer going to be peaceful. He’d always seen this day coming, little did he expect that it was going to come so soon.
For sure, Old Master Lenort will kill Draven. He would never allow him to take the throne. Not only that, but he will involve all of them in his plan.
Now he was starting to ponder if he should run away with Aurora. She was pregnant with his child after all. But knowing his father, he will find them even if they were to run to the edge of the earth and he will make sure to get rid of them. It doesn’t matter if he was his son.
To be honest, he doesn’t want to have any hand in Draven’s death. He would do anything but kill his own brother even if he was only his half-brother. His wife would even hate him if he ever even bore any such thought.
What can he do now? How can he escape—-
"Lumian!" Valentine, who had stood up from his seat, shouted at him.
Lumian snapped out of his drifting thoughts and turned his head to see Valentine approaching him.
"What is going on with you? Let me out of here!" Valentine glared at him.
Lumian frowned at him. "So that you can do what? Go to Draven?"
"Yes," Valentine replied.
"No." Lumian shook his head. "I can’t l; eat you out. At least, not right now." He held the key to the locked door. "Wait until things have cooled down. The royal mansion is dangerous right now, so—"
"I don’t care!" Valentine cut him off, walking over to grab his hand. "Give me the damn key, Lumian. I need to talk to Draven. I have to—"
"Do you know the situation we are in right now?" Lumian questioned.
"Lumian, I am not dumb. But I’m not going to stay here with you and—"
"Draven is going to die." Lumian stood up from the chair, completely towering above him. "Father is already beginning to plan on him. What the hell do you think you can do? How can you stop him from killing him?"
Valentine rapidly blinked his eyes, reality dawning on him. "I-i—"
"Exactly!" Lumian clicked his tongue, irritated. "Listen, this mansion is going to turn bloody without a doubt and none of us can help Draven. Ryan, and Lestat, are all going to help Father to get rid of him. We have no chance of saving him."
"We?" Valentine drew his head back.
"Obviously idiot!" Lumian scoffed. "I may not like Draven, but I also don’t hate him like you think. I don’t want to be involved or have any hand in his murder, thank you."
"Then help me!" Valentine implored. "I have to save him. Please! While Father may have wished he didn’t get chosen, he is definitely happy within him. I mean, this is an opportunity for him to finally get rid of him."
Lumian stared at him for a few moments and slowly shook his head.
"I really want to help you, Val, but I can’t."
"What? But why?" Valentine questioned, walking over to stand in front of him. "Are you afraid? What the hell is it? Why won’t you—"
"I can’t help you and that’s it!" Lumian cut him off with a yell. "My wife is pregnant and I need her to be safe. I have to get her out of this hell hole and you think Draven is what I care about right now?"
Valentine’s eyes flickered softly and he staggered back against the wall. "So...we are just going to let father kill him."
"As much as I hate to admit it, yes, that is all we can do." Lumian balled his hands into fists. "Valentine, listen—"
"Don’t bother." Valentine drew in a deep breath. "I’ll save him myself." He walked to the door to leave, but Lumian grabbed his hand, pulling him back.
"Valentine, run away with my wife and me! Away from all this. You’ll be a safe and—"
"Get your fucking hands off me!" Valentine snatched his wrist, pushing him.
He questioned, "Am I the only one you give a fuck about?"
Lumian responded honestly, "Yes! Yes, you are! I just need you to be safe and that’s all. Going out there is nothing but risking your—"
"Fucking coward!" Valentine cursed at him. "All you think about is running, running and running! You have never for once stood back to fight for yourself and your wife is probably ashamed of you for that."
"For how long will you keep running? From a man just like you? Why are you even afraid of him to this extent? Does he torment you? I don’t get it."
Lumian clenched his fists, lowering his head to stare at the floor. "You don’t know what our father is capable of...Valentine."
"I still don’t give a shit! Even if he were the devil, I wouldn’t give a fuck." Valentine spat, extending his hand. "Give me the key."
Lumian looked at him. "Valentine, you are sick. This can possibly worsen your condition."
"Just give me the damn key!" Valentine shouted at him.
Although reluctant, Lumian pulled out the key from his pocket and handed it over to him. Valentine snatched it from his grip, unlocked the door, and left the room.
Lumian could only stand and stare at his disappearing back. He sighed, lowering his head and pinching between his brows in exhaustion.

Outside at the mansion in a restricted area, Loui stood, impatiently marching back and forth. He was panicking, waiting for someone.
A minute...two minutes...four minutes...seven minutes...
Someone came rushing, chest rising and falling in heavy breath and eyes, glancing from left to right.
"Thalia!" At the sight of her, a deep breath of relief fled Loui’s nose.
The woman, Avelina’s maid, Thalia came to a halt, her brown eyes rising to take a glimpse of Loui.
"Big brother. What is going on? W-why—"
Loui pulled her into a hug, embracing her. "I’m glad you are safe! I’m really glad you are safe!"
