Chapter 398: What Is Your Deal, Lumian?

"First, let’s confirm if you really are. I want you to wait here for me, while I go get what you need." Draven let go of her hand to leave, but Avelina stopped him, shaking her head.

"Let me come with you, Draven," Avelina implored.

Draven shook his head at her. "No, sunshine, I need you to stay back here and wait for me, okay?" He peppered soft kisses on her head and left the room.

Avelina could only watch as he shut the door. She dropped, sitting down on the bed. Her hand instinctively reached to touch her belly and a shaky breath fled her nose.

Now, it was all starting to make sense. The unnecessary emotional changes and the urge to vomit even at the smell of food she likes.

Avelina got up from the bed and walked to the tall mirror. She unzipped her dress, letting it fall to examine her body. She’d been adding weight, but never really thought much of it. Never in her wildest dreams did she think it could possibly be due to pregnancy.

Thalia and Camilla had also once commented on the fact that her belly was a slight bit bigger than it used to be. There wasn’t much difference, as Draven hadn’t noticed, but she and her maids definitely did. Again, she hadn’t really thought much of it, thinking, perhaps it was because of the fact that she was much happier and finally eating fine.

Was a pregnancy test needed at this point?

A soft sigh fled her nose and she wore back her dress, zipping it up. She sat back on the bed and patiently began to wait for Draven.

...

The door finally pushed open after about thirty minutes of waiting and Draven walked in.

He approached the bed where Avelina was curled up in a softball and squatted down beside her. "Sunshine?"

He caressed her hair, slipping a few strands behind her ear.

Avelina softly grumbled, blinking her eyes open. At the sight of Draven, she quickly sat up on the bed.

"You took so long!" She said, frowning.

"Traffic. I’m sorry." Draven ruffled her hair and handed the packet of test strips to her. "Here you go."

Avelina received it from him and intently stared at it for a few seconds. She swallowed hard and lifted her head to look at him.

"Should I check it now?"

Draven nodded. "Yes. Tell me the result, okay? I’ll be waiting outside the bathroom for you."

Avelina climbed down from the bed and walked into the bathroom. She shut the door behind her and proceeded towards the sink.

Right against the door, Draven leaned, waiting patiently. It would really be much better if she wasn’t with a child.

Avelina was right to panic. They were in a dangerous situation as of the moment and if anything happened to the child, he would be losing yet another. He clearly wasn’t ready to go through that pain again. He wouldn’t want an innocent child to suffer before he or she could even glimpse the world.

Draven pressed his head against the door and let out a deep breath. Whatever the result, he will figure out a way to make things better.

Avelina, who was standing at the sink, watched the two test strips. Slowly, each one of them drew two lines. In an instant, her heart dropped to her stomach and she felt this sickening feeling build within her.

"I-it’s....it’s...positive..." she covered her mouth and staggered back from the sink. She breathed heavily, her shoulders heaving up and down.

"Avelina?" Draven called from outside.

Avelina turned her head, glancing at the door. She grabbed the test strip and walked to the door, but she couldn’t seem to open the door and step outside. She was breaking down.

Rather, she pressed her back against the door and gradually slipped to the floor with her knees folded to her chest.

"D-Draven..."

"Sunshine?" Draven, who heard her call, slipped down and sat on the floor, listening for her. "Did you do it? What does it say?"

Avelina was quiet. Hot tears had built up in her eyes and had slowly begun to fall down her cheek.

"It’s positive..." she said. "I am...with our child."

Of course, it was their fault. They caused, they knew what was going to happen. After all, they did spend his heat together and even marked each other. There was literally a ninety percent chance of conceiving a baby. While it wasn’t too much of a surprise, it just came too soon!

Draven took a deep breath.

"It’s okay, sunshine. It’s not the end of the world."

"Can we...can we even protect it? Can we, Draven?" Avelina questioned, sobbing.

"I can...I’ll really try even if it costs me my life. So please...calm down for me, okay?" Draven pleaded, sighing deeply. "Can you come out? Just come and stay with me."

Avelina took a deep breath and stood up from the floor. She opened the door and stepped out with a half smile evident on her face.

Draven grabbed her hand, pulling her into a tight hug. "You don’t have to worry, everything will be fine. I’ll make sure of that."

"You just have to relax and trust me, okay?"

"But Draven...this is either you kill them...or you die..." Avelina was still sobbing quietly.

Draven gave a nod. "I know. They will surely kill me if I don’t do anything. And that is why I have to act first. Look on the bright side, it’s a perfect chance to get my revenge."

Avelina pulled back from the hug and lifted her head to look at his face. She reached out her hand, gently cupping her cheek. "We have to be the ones to survive...okay?"

"Of course." Draven planted a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Change into something else, there is somewhere we have to go."

Avelina nodded and turned around, making her way to the closest.

Valentine, who had been dragged away by Lumian sat in the room with him, a furious expression evident on his face.

"What is your deal, Lumian?" He questioned. "Let me out of here!"
