Chapter 375: He Will Execute Me
"They are." Old Master Lenort shrugged, unbothered.
"Exactly!" Mikhail cackled. "He could easily have a child if he wants to, so I say, do something about it. Anything can happen. If he does get chosen, that will be the end of—"
"Focus on your work, Mikhail. I don’t want to discuss this any longer." Old Master Lenort cut him off.
Although Mickhail still had a lot more to say, he decided to keep his mouth shut and continued going through the documents in his grip.

Avelina glanced around the room, the second Draven shut the door behind them.
"It’s been a while." She breathed, a smile forming on her face.
Draven stood at the door, watching her with a soft smile evident on his face.
Avelina hurried to the table and grabbed one of the books, flipping through it. "You didn’t throw it out?" she asked, turning around to look at Draven.
Draven furrowed his brows, perplexed. "Hm? Why would I do that?"
"Well...I left, so there was no reason for you to keep—"
"You didn’t finish these books, but I would never throw them out, even if you did. Besides, I did say I would come for you sometime, so of course I was going to keep and take care of them," Draven interjected and approached her. He took off the hat she wore and whipped his hand through the window to pat off the snow particles on it.
Avelina glanced at the book in her grip and let out a long, deep breath, somehow relieved to be back again. Truly, this was where her happiness was—with Draven and only him.
She dropped the book on the table and took off the coat she wore. Out of curiosity, she could not help but ask, "Draven, what will happen if your father finds out you turned me without his permission?"
"He would execute me," Draven casually answered.
This caused Avelina to quickly look at him. "W-what? Why?!"
Draven was quiet for a few seconds before explaining, "Turning a human is a big deal, and according to the peace treaty between us and humans, we are not allowed to turn humans."
He pulled back from the window, turning around to look at her. "You do understand that no human in his or her right mind would ever want to be turned and have their humanity taken away from them, so it is not done. Even if one wanted to practice such, they would need to seek permission from my father or any ruling party, and this applies to us royal blood as it is only us that have the ability to turn humans."
"Common vampires cannot turn humans. They would die if they ever attempted it because the practice would backfire. Only those that have royal blood running in their veins can do such."
Avelina blinked her eyes, her face scrunching in deep worry. "So you could get killed if your father finds out that you turned me?"
Draven nodded at her.
"Yes. But even if we were to take permission from him, his response might come back negative considering no one has ever dared to over the decades that the peace treaty was set."
He continued, "I know you would ask me why I didn’t take permission from him first." He sighed, walking over to sit down on the sofa and cross his legs. "This is because my father would have outrightly said no. He does not like you, and he would never allow such a practice for a human like you. If it were someone else that he found likable, perhaps he might agree."
"So, yes, that is why I didn’t bother. Besides, you would have completely died with no way to save your soul if I’d gone through all the trouble to ask my father for permission."
Avelina lowered her head, her grip on the bed sheet tightening.
"You shouldn’t have saved me, then."
"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Draven frowned at her, displeased by her statement.
Avelina looked at him with a worried expression. "I mean, why would you do it knowing you would be in this sort of predicament? How long did you think we would be able to hide it till your father finds out?"
"What is the use of doing this? If he finds out, both you and I would die, which is just plain—"
"I saved you because I wanted to." Draven interrupted her, getting quite nettled by her words. "Whatever happens next, you shouldn’t bother yourself with it. All that matters is that I saved you, so let it be."
He stood up from the chair and began to walk to the bathroom.
"Draven!" Avelina stood up from the bed.
"I don’t like what you are saying, Avelina." Draven shut the door behind him, leaving Avelina standing with her hand, gripping the pants she wore.
She stared at the door and completely wordless, she sat back down on the bed, her fingers gripping tightly onto the sheet.

On the empty balcony of the mansion, Valentine sat with his legs curled to his chest. His eyes were fixed on the dark, shaded sky, with thousands of stars evident.
"Why are you out here?" A familiar voice sounded, prompting him to quickly turn his head around.
His gaze fell on Draven, who stood with his head tilted and his hands shoved into the pocket of his pants. The saddened gleam in his eyes flickered off, and a smile slowly emerged on his face.
"You’re back," he said, his voice sounding a bit sick.
Draven noticed, so he took a step towards him, taking a seat beside him on the couch.
"How are you? Lumian answered your phone when I called and it sounded like something was wrong with you. Do you feel any better?" he asked.
Valentine chuckled softly, nodding his head. "Ignore Lumian. He’s just making things up. I’m perfectly fine."
Draven was not at all convinced. "I’m not sure about that. You looked really sickly the last time I saw you, and you’ve also lost a lot of weight."
