Chapter 370: It Hurts...Lumian
Chapter 370: It Hurts...Lumian
Valentine’s eyes flickered, and sudden pain flashed in his eyes.
"I...do?" he inquired, slowly smiling.
"Of course." Old Master Lenort shrugged, unbothered. "You should be grateful to me that I have taken care of you till this moment. You lack nothing, and you have equal rights just as each of your brothers does, so what are you throwing a tantrum for?"
"As worthless as you are, don’t you think it’s a big honor that I even bothered to use you to get what I wanted? It means you are not as worthless as you should have been. Tighten up, boy, it’s not a big deal. I did nothing wrong to you. You are an ungrateful brat and—"
Valentine was suddenly in front of him, his fisted hand right an inch away from his face, threatening to hit and bruise him. "You! You are just..."
"How can you say that to me?! How?!!" he shouted in his face, his fist trembling.
"Valentine!!" Lumian slammed his hands on the table, standing up from his feet. "Enough of that! Show Father some respect!"
Valentine slowly turned his head to look at him with glaring eyes. "Asshole!"
"Take your hands off me." Old Master Lenort’s voice was calm and deadly. He raised his hand, attempting to slap Valentine across the face, but Lumian, who’d appeared in the blink of an eye, pushed Valentine off, taking the hit.
His head turned to the side, and only when the pain he’d sustained had dissipated a bit did he turn his head. "Father, please forgive him. It must be the doing of his heat."
Old Master Lenort scowled at him. "You still care for him, I see."
"No, father." Lumian shook his head. "I am merely trying to calm the situation down so that we can all have a peaceful breakfast. There is nothing more to it."
"Is that so?" Old Master Lenort chortled in amusement. He stood up from his chair, walked closer to Lumian, and stopped only when his lips were near Lumian’s ear.
He whispered, "You better chain him down like you always did when you were little, otherwise, I might actually kill him this time around. Don’t try to mask it, nor lie to me, it is written all over your face that you care for him."
He left the pavilion with his hands placed behind his back, not even bothering to spare a glance at Valentine, who was on the floor.
Lumian’s shoulder rose and fell as he took a deep breath. He turned around to look at Valentine, and without warning, he grabbed him by the hand, pulling him up from the floor.
"Idiot!" He began to drag him along with him as he stormed off towards Valentine’s quarter.
Valentine struggled, wanting him to unhand him. "Let. Go of me!" He gritted his teeth, trying with all his strength to pry Lumian’s grip open, but Lumian was just stronger.
Arriving at his quarter, Lumian opened the door, ignoring Adam, who was standing guard by the side. Adam was confused, not sure what was going on. He could not seem to comprehend why the second prince would be dragging Valentine with irritation written all over his face.
Lumian yanked Valentine into the room and stepped in with him, slamming the door shut. He turned to him and glared at him with eyes that could stab if it was possible.
"Fuck off and leave me the heck alone! I didn’t ask you to take the hit for me, so don’t look at me like you just did the whole world for me!" Valentine cursed, turning around to walk over and sit down on the chair.
But Lumian appeared before him, gripping him by the collar of his shirt and slamming him against the wall.
"Say that again, and I will break all the teeth in your mouth. Don’t you dare me, Valentine!"
Valentine’s expression crumpled, and he tried to free himself from his grip. "Let go of me! What the hell is your problem? Why are you all up in my business?! I’ve told you to stay away from me, why won’t you just leave me alone?" he shouted at him.
"Because I’m a brother that cares for his younger brother, you idiot!" Lumian flung him, sending him falling harshly to the floor. "Why can’t you see and understand that?!"
"Would you be acting this way if Draven did what I just did for you? Of course not!" He breathed heavily. "So what if I did you wrong? It’s been nearly a hundred years, and you are still stuck on it! I have fucking apologized to you, yet you do not want to even look on the bright side."
"I haven’t even done a quarter of what the others have done to you, yet I look like a demon in your eyes." He ran his fingers through his hair, trying to calm himself down.
"What were you even thinking out there? What did you think was going to happen? Do you not fucking know how to keep your emotions in place?" he asked, fuming.
Valentine didn’t respond but crawled closer to the bed. He leaned his suddenly weak body against it and rested his head on the bed, his breathing heavy.
Lumian continued, "It is already very clear how much Father hates you. He doesn’t care, and he never will. No matter how much you complain, he will never apologize to you, nor will he ever feel remorse, so stop it!"
"Stop putting yourself in these kinds of situations just because your emotions are overwhelming you. Draven or I will not always be there to save you. He might actually kill you next—" He stopped talking the second he felt that something was off.
"Valentine?" He approached him, squatting down in front of him. "Valentine?" He touched his forehead and flinched immediately at the feel of his temperature.
He was horribly burning, as though he were placed right above a fire.
"Val, what is going on with you? What is happening to—"
"It...it hurts...Lumian..." Valentine trembled, extending his hand out.
