Chapter 368: I’m In Heat

Olive rubbed his chest where he’d been kicked, massaging it in order to feel less stinging pain.

Valentine stared at him for a few seconds and instinctively sent a punch to his face. "You enjoy making me feel worse than I already do, I can see that." He stood up from the table and began to storm off.

"I can run you a very cold bath if that will help you cool down," Olive suggested, covering his bleeding nose.

"I can do it myself!" Valentine walked into the bathroom, slamming the door shut.

Olive sighed, averting his attention to his shirt that was on the table. He stood up and grabbed it, leaving the living room.

——

"Draven." As Avelina looked around the room, she held a panicked expression, very worried about something.

Draven opened the door, walking into the room. "What’s wrong?" He approached her on the bed.

Avelina raised her eyes to look at him. "Draven, the other necklace?" she asked, grabbing onto the sunshine necklace clasped around her neck. "It was inside the pocket of my dress before I went home. I don’t know what happened to it."

She was panicking. "I think it fell into the river. I don’t really know. I’m so sorry."

"Why are you sorry?" Draven asked, squatting in front of her.

"I lost it," Avelina said with an apologetic expression. "You gave that necklace to me, and I’ve not really won it even once. So—"

"It’s okay," Draven interrupted her, chuckling lightly. He straightened up, ruffling her hair with his fingers. "You don’t have to be sorry, the necklace isn’t lost."

"Huh?" Avelina was taken aback.

"It isn’t?"

Draven shook his head at her. "No. I found it in your dress." He walked away to the drawer close to the bed and opened it, taking out a small black box. He returned to her and took her hand, placing the box in the center of her palm.

"Here it is."

Avelina averted her gaze from his face to the box and opened it to see the necklace with the moon pendant resting in it. It looked as new as it’d always been, its diamond twinkling a blue radiant color.

Relief washed over her, and she slowly beamed, exhaling. "It looks fine."

But her expression switched in the neck moment at the recollection of the painting that was left behind at her home. She glanced at Draven, biting her lower lip. "Draven, the painting... I’m really sorry about it."

Draven gazed at her for a few hot seconds before caressing her hair and slipping a few strands behind her ear. He said, "You don’t have to worry about the painting. I told you that I would make you thousands of paintings if you wanted, so it is nothing worth your worry."

He got into the bed, laying on his back to face the ceiling.

Avelina closed her palm that held onto the necklace and moved further into the bed, laying beside him. She stared at his face and abruptly propelled herself into a sitting position.

Her eyes examined the necklace thoroughly, and she reached forward, attempting to clasp it around Draven’s neck.

"What are you doing?" Draven inquired, also sitting up on the bed.

Avelina beamed at him with sparkling hazel pearls. She responded, "I want you to have this one. You are like the moon, after all, so I think it fits you." She went on her knees, crawling behind him, to lock the necklace around his neck.

"The moon?" Draven was perplexed, unable to grasp her logic.

"Mhm." Avelina nodded. "You said I’m like the sunshine, right? Well, you are like the moon to me. What a coincidence!" She chortled, crawling back to his front to admire the pendant resting on his chest. "See, it suits you."

Draven glimpsed the pendant with a raised brow and lifted his eyes to look at Avelina the moment she moved closer to him.

"See, when we are closer like this..." They were no more than an inch apart, their foreheads pressing against each other. "...It magnetizes and locks to each other."

"Mhm, it does." Draven concurred, glancing at the two pendants that were magnetized to each other, thus locking them in. "I like it."

"Me too." Avelina laughed softly and lifted her head the moment she felt his hot breath fanning her cheek. They were so close that all it took was for either one of them to make the move, and they would kiss.

And Draven, of course, didn’t fail to do so. He’d rested his large hand on her neck, pulling her much closer to him and pressing his lips against hers.

He kissed her gently, but Avelina could feel some sort of need in it. She shut her eyes, secretly searching for a whiff of breath. He was hot—so hot she would have assumed he had a fever if not because he wasn’t human.

Was something wrong with him?

She broke the kiss, taking a deep breath to fill her empty lungs. "Draven, are you okay?"

"Why do you ask?" Draven grabbed her chin with two fingers, tilting her head to have her look him in the eyes.

Avelina blinked, blushing. "Well, your body is very hot. I don’t think you have a fever, so what is it?"

"I’m in heat," Draven responded without hesitation.

Avelina widened her eyes. "Heat? Oh...Oh! I forgot!" She laughed awkwardly, tapping her forehead.

Draven playfully ruffled her hair, turning her around and pulling her closer to him to have her back pressed against his bare chest. He buried his face in the crook of her neck and wrapped his arms around her.

"You are not cold. I would have loved it if you were. It will help in cooling my temperature."

"O-oh? I had no idea." Avelina stuttered, her face flushing a deep red. She was not oblivious to his hands that had crept under her chest, cupping her bare, perky breasts and kneading them.

"H-h-how long is it g-g-going to last?" she asked, throwing her head back, unable to help but let out a muffled moan that she tried as hard as she could to swallow. She bit her lips, curling her toes in pleasure.
