Chapter 364: Do You Like It?
Chapter 364: Do You Like It?
Avelina nodded in understanding.
"I see."
Draven rinsed her body, pulling her against him and having her lay her head on his shoulder. "What will you do about your father, Sunshine?"
Avelina blinked. "Why do you call me that?" she queried in curiosity, a smile evident on her face.
"Because your smile reminds me of the sunshine. I like it, so I thought it’d fit you. I love calling you that. Do you dislike it?" Draven tilted his head, a bit of apprehension flickering in his eyes.
Avelina gazed dazedly, her lips forming a wide subconscious smile. She remembered him calling her by that pet name throughout the night before. She wanted to ask why in the middle of it, but she was too lost to even be able to form a sentence.
How would she even dislike such a name? She loved it but only wanted to inquire out of curiosity.
Her eyes went to Draven’s, and she shook her head. "No, of course not."
"Do you like it?" Draven asked, stroking her scent gland.
Avelina nodded her head, feeling shivers coursing through her body at the touch. "N-no. That tickles..."
Draven kissed the mark he’d left on her skin and buried his face in the crook of her neck. "Tell me, what do you intend to do about your father?"
"What can I do?" Avelina asked.
Draven lifted his head a bit, glimpsing her. He frowned. "Are you going to let him get away with what he has done to you? Do you not want him to feel pain too?"
"I could have hurt him for you, but I couldn’t because I didn’t know if it was what you wanted or not." He grabbed Avelina’s chin and turned her head to have her look into his eyes. "He wanted you to die... Avelina. He doesn’t care for you. The only one who did was your mother. Don’t you want him to pay for what he has done to you?"
Avelina was quiet for a few seconds. She exhaled, resting on him. "I do. But...I don’t think I have the courage to make my own father pay. Besides, it will really hurt my mother, so I would rather forget it."
"That’s very generous of you," Draven muttered.
"Really?" Avelina raised an eyebrow. "Then what would you have done if you were in my shoes?"
"Kill him," Draven responded, shrugging. "A father willing to murder his own child does not deserve to live. He hates you, and he might as well not be seen as your father but as a total psychotic stranger." His annoyance was clear in his tone.
Avelina was quiet, her gaze fixed on the ceiling above her. She abruptly smiled at herself and turned around to sit on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and Draven watched as her fangs elongated.
He could immediately tell what it was that she wanted, thus making him grin in amusement.
"You crave a good amount of blood, Avelina. Does this happen with every turned human?" He was curious.
Avelina blinked her hazel eyes, which had switched to a bloody red color. "My teeth itch, Draven."
"I know." Draven stroked her head, slipping a few wet strands behind her ear. "Go ahead."
Avelina lowered her head to his shoulders and sank her teeth into his flesh, taking as much blood as she wanted.
"Avelina, would you want me to supply blood for you?" Draven asked suddenly.
Avelina quickly jerked her head up and looked at him with a frown on her face. "No!"
"Huh? Then...how will you survive?" Draven was taken aback. "You do understand that you are no longer human. Well, you are only half of it, but you need blood now more than food, meaning you can’t survive without one."
Avelina frowned. "I know that. But I won’t be taking any supplied blood." She cupped his cheeks in her palms, saying, "I only need yours. Just yours, Draven. I don’t want anyone else."
Draven let out a soft breath, helpless. "I won’t be enough for you, Avelina. Maybe for now, but sooner or later, you will want more. I won’t always be around you, so...what if you suddenly crave one? What would you do?"
"Nothing." Avelina shrugged, unbothered.
Draven flicked her forehead with his finger. "Don’t say that. The pain you go through when you crave blood is excruciating. Much more painful than when humans are starving and need as much food as they can get."
"So—"
"I only want yours, Draven. Just yours! Don’t try to convince me, please." Avelina circled her arms around his neck, hugging him and burying her face in his neck. "I can smell your scent. It’s so comforting."
She exhaled softly and melted into his arms. "I didn’t know this was what you meant when you said you felt extreme comfort from my scent."
Draven chortled lightly, patting her head. "You marked me, so you can smell my scent clearly now."
"Heh?" Avelina quickly shot her head up to look at his face. "I marked you?" She can’t seem to remember any of that.
Draven nodded, amused. "Yes, you did. You asked for it last night. See." He tilted his head to bare his scent gland for her. No one except his late wife had ever marked him, and that was so they could produce offspring.
This time, it was different. He really wholeheartedly wanted her to mark him, and that was why he allowed her. It would bond them completely, and he so wanted Avelina to be bound to him entirely and no one else.
She belonged to him and no one else.
Avelina stared with amazement at the flower-shaped mark on his neck. It turned out that when one marks another, the mark takes on a shape of its own. "It’s pretty..." She touched it playfully, causing Draven to shiver a bit.
"You were right, this actually tickles a lot." Draven cackled a bit.
Avelina pulled back to stare at his face. He was finally hers. He belonged to her and did not just belong; he was bonded to her so much that she could feel his emotions clearly as if they were one body.
