Chapter 347: Who Are You Speaking To?!!
Then Avelina would call Draven and have him come get her.
With a deep breath exiting her nose, she hurried to the closet and opened it. She picked out a spare bed sheet and cut it open with scissors, making an even longer rope.
Tying it to the bedsheet on the bed, she half smiled at the long rope with a relieved expression.
Hopefully, it will be able to hold her weight.
Avelina advanced to the window and grabbed one of the nearest heavy objects in the room. She shattered the glasses of the window, and with the use of the pillow covers, she covered the spike from the edge of the window frame, not wanting to hurt herself.
She tied the rope to the edge of the window frame and pulled on it, testing its tightness.
Looks good! She took a deep breath and grabbed her phone from the bed.
Now, all she had to do was call Draven and have him come help her once she got herself out of the room.
The phone rang. The first time, no one picked up, but on the second try, the call was answered.
[Avelina?]
Avelina came to a sudden standstill, hearing that voice she hadn’t heard in a while from the other side of the phone. Her eyes slowly flickered, and a breath of relief fled her nose.
"Draven..." Her words came out in almost a whisper.
[Avelina! Are you okay? I’ve been calling you for days now, and you never—]
"I’m okay, Draven." Avelina smiled to herself. "I was just not in a good situation."
[Good situation? What’s wrong? Did something happen?]
"Yes." Avelina nodded her head. "Things are very terrible over here, Draven, and I don’t know what is going to happen to me. I need your help, please."
[My help?] Draven sounded deeply worried.
Avelina replied, "Yes. I am in a very terrible situation, and I need to run from here, Draven. From my father! He will hurt me and—"
The sound of the door handle suddenly shaking violently alerted Avelina, and she quickly whipped her head to look at the door.
"Who are you speaking to? Who are you speaking to in there?!!" Mr. Hamilton’s voice boomed.
Avelina’s heart skipped a beat, and she staggered backward.
"D-d-Draven, I have to go. I’ve got to go right now." The fear etched in her voice was so clear that even Draven could hear it from the other side of the phone.
"[Avelina, what is going—]
The phone slipped out of Avelina’s hand and fell to the floor without the call ending. She quickly turned around, rushing to the window to hurry down using the rope, but the door slamming open startled her, causing her to trip, falling to the floor.
Mr. Hamilton stormed into the room and glimpsed her getting off the floor. His face scrunched in a nasty manner, and he quickly hurried off to grab hold of her.
Avelina climbed the window, ready to jump off without the use of the rope, ignoring the risk of breaking a bone or two, but before she could, Mr. Hamilton gripped her by the hair, pulling her off.
She fell to the floor on her back and groaned in deep pain. She gritted her teeth in the pain she had felt in her chest and grabbed onto the edge of her hair, which her father was still holding onto.
"You thought you could escape from me? Huh?!" Mr. Hamilton glared at her. "So you knew what you did and you knew the consequences, yet you came back to this house. What were you thinking? That I would let you off the hook? Do you know what damage you have done?"
He burst into laughter and began to pull her out of the room by her hair.
"Let go of me! AGHHH!! Let go!!" Avelina cried, trying to break free from him.
But he wasn’t letting go. He pulled her right out of the room and dragged her down the stairs, not caring one bit that he was hurting her.
All these, Draven could hear from the other side of the phone.
Annette, hearing the screams of her daughter, rushed out of her room towards the living room, where Mr. Hamilton had dragged Avelina into.
"M-Michael, what are you doing?!" she screamed at him, and her eyes widened. "Let go of her! You are hurting her!!"
But Mr. Hamilton looked at her with disdainful eyes, clearly peeved by her. He stared at her with eyes that could kill if it were even possible. "Stay out of this, Annette. Otherwise, you will suffer along with her."
"Look at her." He pointed at Avelina whom he was still pulling by the hair. "She is nothing but an abomination, and you had the balls to let her into this house. For what reason? To taint the remains that she hasn’t already tainted? To make things even worse than they already were during her absence?"
He tightened his grip on her hair. "She will have to suffer the consequences, she must be cleansed of this awful scent that that sinful being has etched on her, and if you, Annette, interfere, I might hurt you. So stay out of it and behave yourself!"
Annette was still and quiet, no longer able to utter a word. She had a lot to say—she wanted to plead, but the words just weren’t coming out of her throat. They were stuck, keeping her still in her spot.
Mr. Hamilton let go of Avelina’s hair and gripped her by her arm, yanking her off the floor. He began to storm out of the house, but Annette knew that once Avelina was out of her sight, there was a possibility that she might just never get to see her again.
She had no idea where it was that Mr. Hamilton could be taking Avelina or what he could possibly do to her. So, she stepped forward, standing in front of him and spreading her arms out, preventing them from moving forward any further.
Mr. Hamilton frowned at her. "What is the meaning of this?!"
