Chapter 344: Who Bought You?
Chapter 344: Who Bought You?
Lucy began to walk off, leaving Annette on the floor.
Annette watched her disappearing back and tightened her grip on the wooden floor. She breathed heavily, and the hot tears she was preventing from falling began to drop from her eyes onto the floor.
"Please don’t harm her."
...
Mr. Hamilton’s footsteps echoed as he ascended the stairs. He stood before Avelina’s door and turned the handle, opening it. He stepped into the room and shut the door behind him, locking it to make sure no one would interrupt.
He glanced over at the bed to see Avelina sound asleep. A disgusted look emerged on his face, and he stood by a corner in the room, his dead gray eyes watching her.
The clock on the wall ticked, its sound reverberating within the room.
Avelina suddenly turned on the bed, blinking her eyes open. She stared at the closed window of the room and gradually sat up to look at the door. For reasons she could not tell, she was starting to feel uneasy, as though there was someone else in the room with her.
That was finally when she looked over at the dark corner of the room, spotting a male silhouette. Her heart skipped a frightened beat, and she quickly jolted off of the bed.
Her father...it was her father!
Avelina began to breathe unsteadily, fear gripping her very soul.
Mr. Hamilton stepped out of the dark corner of the room. He began to walk towards her, and Avelina, who was extremely weary of him, started to back away.
"Take another step back, Olga, and you will regret it." His voice was filled with nothing but contempt and distaste.
Avelina instantly came to a standstill. She watched him approach her, but she could not move or do anything.
"Sit down," Mr. Hamilton ordered as he took his seat on the wooden chair in the room.
Avelina didn’t move. She was too occupied with her chaotic thoughts to even move her body.
Mr. Hamilton’s face scrunched awfully, and he whipped his head over to her. "I said, sit. Down!"
Avelina quickly sat down in the bed, her body trembling in severe anxiety.
Mr. Hamilton crossed his legs and folded his arms. "Who marked you?" he asked.
"W-what?" Avelina flickered her eyes. "M-m-marked?"
"Do you want me to repeat myself?" Mr. Hamilton questioned. His voice was calm, just like Draven’s tone always was, but unlike Draven’s, this man’s voice was lethal. It was deadly and so calm that one would want to run and never be near him. At least, that’s how it always appeared to his family. Before the public, he was a different man, as though he had a split personality.
Avelina’s grip on the bed tightened, and she lowered her head, unable to hold eye contact with him.
"I’m not marked, father. No one marked—"
Her neck was suddenly grabbed without restraint, and next, she was pushed down onto the bed with full force.
Avelina’s pupils widened, and she looked at the man who had her pinned down with the intent to strangle her. The eyes with which he was gazing at her were cold and held no tinge of emotion a father may hold for his daughter.
He was like a soulless being, devoid of even a single emotion. He was heartless!
"Do you think I am here to go back and forth with you?" Mr. Hamilton narrowed his eyes on her. "Do you think that I am stupid?"
"Look at you! You completely reek of their kind. And that coat?" He glanced at Draven’s coat, which Avelina had taken off. "The scent is so strong, I could puke!"
Avelina gripped his hands and began to struggle, trying to break free. She was having a hard time breathing, and his words were ringing like an alarm in her ears.
"L-let go! I can’t—I can’t breathe." Her eyes teared up, and her pupils rolled back to her skull, starting to feel her vision blur.
Mr. Hamilton’s face twitched in anger, and he tightened his grip on her. "Will you speak?"
"Say otherwise, and I will end your life right here! Don’t you dare me!"
Avelina frantically nodded her head at him.
"I’ll s-s-speak. Please let go."
Mr. Hamilton scoffed and let go of her. He stepped back, sitting down on the chair. Avelina quickly sat up on the bed and began to cough furiously, her throat burning.
She breathed desperately, her eyes wet with tears, and she swallowed hard. She looked at her father, who, in turn, cocked an eyebrow.
"Start speaking. I do not have time to waste on you." He flipped open the newspaper he had brought with him. "Why did you run from Mr. Marcel?"
Avelina gulped, taking a deep breath. "H-he tried to force himself on me."
"And what happened after you ran?" Mr. Hamilton further questioned.
Avelina responded, "I accidentally fell through the barrier."
"The barrier that separates our world. I see." Mr. Hamilton flipped to the next page of the newspaper. He asked, "After you fell through the barrier, what happened next? Who did you meet?"
Avelina looked at him. She wished she wouldn’t have to tell him, but knowing he would kill her right there if she even hesitated to tell him the truth, she took a deep breath.
"I was taken by their slave house. They made me stay there for close to a year before an auction was suddenly held."
"You were sold at the auction?" Mr. Hamilton spared her a glance.
Avelina slowly nodded her head. "Y-yes."
"Who bought you?" Mr. Hamilton asked, his eyes moving from one paragraph in the newspaper to another. "That scent on you is stronger than any normal vampire’s scent. So who was it?"
Avelina bit her lower lip. Should she tell him? Should she speak of Draven or lie? But wouldn’t her father know she was lying? He’d often read her like a book.
Mr. Hamilton abruptly scoffed under his breath. "If you are thinking of lying to me, I suggest you don’t do so."
