Chapter 339: BYE BYE, AVELINA!

Draven kissed her plump lips onto her cheek and kissed her ear. He kissed her forehead, to the tip of her nose and stopped right there. While he was catching his breath, Avelina was doing the same as well.

He didn’t want to let go. He wanted to hold her right there, just the two of them, existing in their own world—a world meant just for the two of them.

He would miss her so much more than he would ever be able to imagine. He would miss her words, her laughter, her gummy smile, her scent, her eyes, her warmth, her hair, her adorable face—he would definitely miss all of her.

But mostly... He would miss every day she’d ever spent with him. Every moment, she’d always been with him through it all. He would miss waking up to her beautiful face, her warm breath, and her soft body, which often cuddled him.

"I will come back for you...I really will," Draven whispered to her, his thumb caressing her lower lip. "When I do this this time around, I’ll never let you go, Avelina. It won’t be a deal anymore, and you will be with me forever. All you have to do is give me a call. Call for me, and I’ll come to you. I will come and get you and take you with me just like you want."

"Like I want, too," he added, tilting her chin up and kissing her for the very last time. "I longed to kiss you," he said against her lips, breaking the kiss.

He took a step back from her, and Avelina finally fluttered her eyes open. Her cheeks were completely flushed a deep shade of pink, having not expected him to kiss her. It was literally the least of her expectations. I mean, this man felt nothing for her.

How wonderful it was! His lips felt so nice and passionate against hers. The way he kissed her, no one had ever kissed her like that before. It made her heart burn and caused her to experience different levels of emotion in such a short span of time. She wanted to indulge more, to explore deeper, but he’d stopped, and she couldn’t do anything about it.

She could still feel the lingering feeling of his lips against hers.

Subconsciously, Avelina lifted her hand, touching her lips with her fingers. She looked at Draven, her eyes filled with perplexity.

He would come to get her? Did he possibly mean it? Does it mean that all hope wasn’t lost and she might still get the chance to be with him? To see him again even after leaving?

Her lips gradually curled into a wide, gummy smile, and she furiously nodded at him, big bubbles of tears bursting from her eyes. "I will be waiting for you!!"

Draven cackled softly and ruffled her hair with his palms. He took a deep breath and lifted his head the moment he felt tiny white crystals of ice begin to fall on him.

"It’s...snowing."

Avelina looked up as well, her smile enlarging. "It’s...snowing."

"It’s SNOWING DRAVEN!!" She laughed heartily, licking the one that fell onto the edge of her lips.

Draven laughed, turning his attention to her. "I didn’t expect it to start snowing today."

"Me neither." A deep breath fled from Avelina, and she glanced at him, smiling. "I’ll be leaving now. I don’t want to get too cold."

Draven nodded at her. "Mhm, you should go." But then, he was suddenly reminded of something. "Ah, wait!"

He turned around, leaving in the twinkle of an eye. He arrived back at her in a matter of a few short seconds, but this time around, he was carrying the portrait.

"Here." He gave it to her.

Avelina was bewildered. "Wh...what is this?"

Draven awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.

"It’s, um, a portrait of you that I made."

"A portrait?" Avelina was surprised. She began to take off the cover to look at it.

Draven nodded, confirming. "I found you...really, really pretty back then when I took you to the clouds. I mean, your smile was the brightest there, and your eyes were...." He looked away, suddenly finding it hard to complete his words.

"What I’m trying to say is that...um, you were the best piece I’ve ever painted. I liked painting you. So—"

"W-wow..." Avelina’s jaw dropped, her large hazel pearls enlarging. Glints of adoration and awe sparkled in her pupils, and she quickly raised her head to glance at Draven.

"I-it’s so...it’s so..." Her lashes flickered rapidly, and she breathed heavily, trying to find the right word. "I have...I have never seen a more accurate painting like this before—at least of me. Haha. It’s so pretty and beautiful, and..."

She slowed down talking, tightening her grasp on the frame. "I like it. No! I love it!"

"THANK YOU!!" She gave him her biggest smile, her eyes completely shut and curved.

Draven, having not expected such a huge sense of gratitude from her, blinked, completely speechless. He swallowed and gradually smiled this time around, more genuinely than he had ever smiled before.

He ruffled her hair playfully and cupped her plump cheeks to look into her eyes. He said, "If I am ever able to, I will make tons and tons of portraits for you, okay?"

Avelina stared intently at him for a few seconds and nodded her head. "Okay!"

She fixed the portrait back into its bag-like wrap and gripped onto her luggage. She spared Draven one last lingering glance and began to walk away. Once she was about thirty feet away from him, she came to a stop and turned around.

"BYE!!" she screamed, her hands cupping around her mouth.

Draven arched his brow, surprised. His lips gradually curved into a smile.

"BYE!!!" he shouted back at her.

Avelina drew in a deep breath and clamored yet again, "BYE DRAVEN! BYE BYE!!" Her voice broke in between, hinting at her sudden tears.

"BYE BYE, AVELINA!!" Draven shouted, not caring about the pedestrians who glanced at them with confused looks.
