Chapter 336: Please Take Me Home

Chapter 336: Please Take Me Home

Suddenly, it all started to click in her head. Was this why Thalia was reluctant to answer her? Was this why they had that pitiful look on their faces? Was it because the man she loved was with another woman in the room next to hers?

Draven, whose nose had twitched at her scent, blinked his scarlet eyes open. He took a moment before shifting his pupils to look at Avelina. And it also took yet another few seconds before he was even able to register what exactly was going on.

"W-why...?" That was the last thing he’d heard from Avelina before she staggered backward and turned around, rushing out of the room.

Draven’s eyes gradually dilated, and he quickly let go of Amélie. He climbed down from the bed, grabbed his shirt from the chair, and left the room. Hurriedly, he opened the door and stepped inside to see Avelina seated at the edge of the bed, her hands tightly gripping her dress.

Draven slowly shut the door and approached her at the bed. He gazed at her for a few moments and let out a soft breath. "Avelina—"

"Why?" Avelina asked, her voice breaking.

Draven squatted down to touch her, but she quickly flinched away from him.

"No! No! No! Don’t come close to me! Don’t touch me! Stay away from me!" Avelina shook her head, heavy bubbles of tears brimming up in her eyes.

"Avelina, I can explain to you. It is not what you think. I would never—"

"Not what I think?" Avelina chuckled dryly, amused by her own stupidity. "Why would you do that to me? You knew that I loved you, and that would be the last thing I’d want to see, but yet you did it anyway."

"And what do you mean by "you can explain?" she questioned.

"What exactly do you want to explain to me? If you so much wanted to, why not just do it somewhere else? I wouldn’t see it. You have your villas, do you not?" She laughed, the tears finally breaking from her ears.

Draven stared at her, not knowing how to control the situation. She was completely misunderstanding him. "Avelina, listen to me." He stepped toward her, grabbing her by the shoulder. "I think this is a misunderstanding."

Avelina laughed at him. "You think? Seriously? Draven, is this because you really want me to leave? Is that why you did this?"

"What?" Draven wrinkled his brows. "Of course not. Avelina I am not that petty. You know that I would never do that to you."

"But you did!" Avelina pushed his hands off, backing away from him. "What were you thinking? That I would suddenly unlove you and hate you? Do you really think the heart works like that?"

Draven shook his head. "No! I never thought of any of this. I never did any of this for the reasons you are—"

"Then why? You are suddenly so tongue-tied, and it is not making any sense to me. You had so many options, but you chose to do it anyway, knowing that I would see it. Do you not even care about how I feel? Do you even know how I feel?" Avelina questioned. "I feel stupid and embarrassed!"

"And do you know why I feel so stupid?" She chuckled. "It is for loving you, Draven. I feel so stupid for loving you, and you were right. I never should have."

She shrugged. "You don’t care about my feelings at all. But you only care about how you feel, and that is so selfish of you!"

"You are heartless! You are emotionless, and you have no fucking empathy! I feel like I don’t even know you anymore. You are not Draven, because I do not think that the man I fell in love with would ever do this. He would never hurt me, even if the world was collapsing on his head."

She shut her eyes, taking a deep breath. "You know, since I told you that I loved you, all you’ve ever done is hurt me. Why?" She opened her teary eyes to look at him. "Was it a crime to love you?"g

She smiled cynically, receiving no answer from him. "Well, my bad, I suppose. I didn’t mean to and I should have been more careful with who I recklessly gave my heart, no?"’

Draven stood, staring at her. It was out of his control. But most of all, her words were painful. They were like hundreds of needles piercing his soul, and it was something he’d never felt or experienced before. He was trying to grasp a full understanding of the emotions surging in him, but he couldn’t seem to make it out.

They were bizarre, almost causing his soul to bleed in pain. Her words stung so badly that he didn’t want to hear them anymore. He’d wish he could make her stop talking. Just let him understand and process for a moment.

"You want me to leave, right?" Avelina’s sudden words broke him out of his dazed state.

He quickly looked at her. "W-what?"

"You want me to leave, right?" Avelina repeated her question again.

Draven darted his eyes around, not able to give her a response.

A soft sigh fled Avelina’s mouth, and she lifted her hand, wiping her tears off and drying her eyes. She said to him, "I’ll go. I know that the longer I stay, the more I will get hurt. I’ve had enough, honestly, and I don’t want to force myself or you."

"Don’t get me wrong, though. I do not regret falling in love with you. You’ve treated me better than anyone I know ever did, so it is quite alright. But there is really no reason for me to stay anymore, I’ve come to understand that."

"I’ve been replaced before I could even leave, haha." She laughed as though she’d done herself a joke.

"Please take me home. I don’t want to spend a minute longer here. Today is the last day anyway. It wouldn’t hurt to leave for my home early, right?"
