A Game Of Chess With A Vampire -
Chapter 333: I Need Help
Chapter 333: I Need Help
Edward’s condition was beyond bad. For a common vampire, he would need at least a few days to a week to heal completely from his situation. Who could have beaten him to such a state? What had he done to have suffered such damage?
Lestat had so many questions, but he knew he would never get an answer until Edward was out of his unconscious state.
He turned around, leaving the room to make his way to his father’s quarter. He stood before the double door and lightly knocked three times.
"Who’s there?" Old Master Lenort’s voice sounded.
Lestat replied, "It’s me, father."
"Oh? Come in," Old Master Lenort permitted.
Lestat opened the door and stepped inside, shutting it behind him. He walked towards his father, who was seated on his one-man sofa with a glass of blood in between his fingers.
"Is there a problem?" Old Master Lenort inquired with a raised brow.
Lestat gave him a bow and straightened up.
"No, but I just found Edward in his room, completely beaten to a pulp."
"Beaten?" Old Master Lenort was taken aback.
Lestat nodded. "He’s in such bad condition that I think it might take him a week to even make a recovery. He is unrecognizable!"
Old Master Lenort deeply frowned. "What happened?"
"I’m not sure." Lestat shook his head. "The royal guards that brought him in said they saw him lying unconscious near the fountain. I can’t tell what happened, but I feel it might have something to do with Draven."
"Draven?" Old Master Lenort’s expression fell.
Lestat gave a nod.
"Yes. His human wife often spends time at the fountain in the mornings. So...I think it might just have something to do with them. I’m not quite sure, therefore, we can only find out what truly happened when Edward wakes up."
Old Master Lenort pinched between his brows. "This is troublesome."
Lestat narrowed his eyes, concerned. "Is everything alright, father?"
"Yes." Old Master Lenort waved his hand at him. "You may leave. We will discuss this matter later."
Lestat nodded and turned around, exiting the room. He shut the door before him and raised his head to look at the ceiling.
"I know that this definitely has something to do with you!" He balled his fists and stormed off.
——
Draven stared into empty space, unable to catch some proper sleep despite feeling drowsy. He turned from his left to his right, and when he could no longer take the frustration, he growled under his breath, burying his face in his pillow.
His body was starting to get increasingly warm, and his face had begun to turn redder and redder with each passing second.
Great! Just great! He’d expected his heat to begin at a later time. It’d never come this early before. The full moon had only just begun a few days ago, so why?
For vampires, they were the most vulnerable during their heat. Their strength and ability usually decrease quite a bit during such a time. However, the good news was that their strength seemed to multiply once their heat was over.
He’d been on suppressants for a while now, but this time around, they weren’t available, meaning he would actually have to spend his heat with someone. He would actually prefer not to if he had a choice, but it was something out of his control, and if he didn’t do something about it, he might actually lose his mind.
A soft breath fled his nose, and he sat up on the bed, turning his attention to the door.
"Santino," he mumbled, running his fingers through his hair. Even though Santino was far from him, he could hear him call due to the blood pact they had made. It was a method that tied one to another after all.
It didn’t take a minute for the door to creak open. Santino walked in, his hands placed behind his back.
"Young master, you called for me." He slightly bowed.
Draven took a deep breath, looking away from him. "I need help."
"Huh?" Santino was perplexed. "May I ask what you need help with, young master?"
Draven finally looked at him, his brows cocked. "Get me someone."
Santino, who understood immediately, nodded, turning around to leave the room. He shut the door behind him and began to proceed towards another quarter in the royal mansion. He appeared surprised too, as he was also aware that his young master’s heat naturally starts late, considering he was the one who often got the suppressants for him.
It was quite abnormal to start this early, in his opinion.
He shrugged his shoulders, and upon arriving at the quarter, he took a turn, proceeding to the double door that leads into a hall. He gave three light knocks at the door.
A few seconds progressed by before a young lady clad in a pretty pink dress that tightly hugged her voluptuous body opened the door. At first glance at Santino, she gasped, immediately bowing her head.
"It’s nice to see you, Butler Santino." She lifted her head to look at him with a charming smile. "May I ask why you are here? It’s still quite early in the morning."
Santino returned a smile. He said, explaining, "I need one girl. Just one."
"Oh?" The woman was a bit stunned. Why would he need a girl? In almost a year, he’d never seen Santino at the entertainment quarter. This led her to come to the conclusion that the third prince must have gone into his heat. It was the beginning of a long, full moon, so it was only right that he’d gone into heat.
But wasn’t it said that the third prince was constantly on suppressants during every full moon? Why the sudden change of mind?
Knowing to mind her business and pry no further into things that didn’t concern her, she beamed at Santino and turned around, gesturing him in. "It’ll be best if you can choose."
Santino nodded, following her into the entertainment house. They proceeded through the corridor and came across a finely carved wooden door. The lady came to a stop.
She opened the door and gestured in. "They are inside."
