A Game Of Chess With A Vampire
Chapter 331: Why Should I, Huh?

Chapter 331: Why Should I, Huh?

Avelina said to him.

"You see, what’s special about this man is that he sees me for me. I do not know how to explain it, but he makes me feel valued beyond just the surface of beauty. He loves my flaws, and even things people dislike about me, he loves them."

"He made me realize my worth, so...how could I not love him this much and stoop this low?" She exhaled.

Edward’s jaw clenched in deep disgust. He scowled. "So what? I see you much more than that!"

"Huh?" Avelina was stunned for a few seconds. "What do you mean by that?"

Edward took a deep breath. This was finally his chance. Now that she was having questions and second thoughts, he could tell her how he felt and let her know. It might be his chance to finally make her his.

"Listen, Avelina, I know this may be coming out of the blue, but...I feel something for you. No, I love you. I do, I really do."

"What?" Was the only word Avelina could utter.

"Yes." Edward nodded his head at her. "I have always loved you, from the moment I met you that night at the auction. I still feel very bittered that I didn’t have enough on me to get you. He beat me to it, but I never stopped loving you. I’d always thought of you and wondered how you’d been! That is how much I love you!"

"I really wasn’t going to tell you, but I think this is the right time to let out my feelings to you. I have less than three days left to be in this royal mansion, so—"

"PLEASE STOP!" Avelina glared, looking at him as though staring at a whole other distasteful being. "How can you say that to me? What in the world are you even saying?" She was starting to get very uncomfortable.

Edward halted, frowning at her. "What do you mean by that?"

Avelina contorted her face in disbelief. "I am married, Edward! And I love my husband! There cannot be anything between you and—"

"There has to be, Avelina!" Edward scowled at her. "The man you love doesn’t even love you. He isn’t even willing to let you stay with him. Don’t you feel the least ashamed? Do you not have any pride at all?!"

"What the hell are you—"

Edward angrily gripped her shoulders, pulling her closer to him and looking into her eyes.

"Let go of me, Edward!" Avelina struggled to free herself from him.

But Edward was not willing to let go. The more she struggled, the more he tightened his hold on her.

"I love you, Avelina, and you should be with me! I’ll take care of you, and I will make you happy!"

"It does not matter if you are married, you can always have a divorce just for me. I mean, shouldn’t you be grateful that a vampire such as me is in love with you? A mere human like you? Common, don’t play this hard to—"

BAM!

Avelina slapped him hard across the face, her chest rising and falling in heavy breathing. "Take your filthy hands off me! You disgust me!"

"If I knew this was what you truly had in mind, I would never have allowed you to say a word to me!" she bellowed, pushing his hands off.

She stood up from the bench to storm off, despite her ankle hurting a bit, but Edward gripped her hand, pulling her back. Before she could even completely process what was happening, Edward tightly locked her in his grip, not giving her a chance to leave.

He was a vampire, after all. His power was much greater than hers.

"Why the hell are you so obsessed with him? Why?!" he screamed into her ears. "What in the world does that asshole have that I do not have? What can he give you that I cannot give you?! Answer me, Avelina!"

"Let go of me!" Avelina struggled, glaring at him. But it was plainly clear that he had no intention of doing so.

She pressed her hands against his chest, wanting to push him off, but she accidentally stumbled on her feet, thus falling to the ground, pulling him along with her in the process.

"Urgh! Get off me, Edward. Please, let go of me!" she began to plead, no longer knowing what to do. Her heart right there was screaming at her to run and never look back. This man’s intention was terrible—she could tell immediately. She was in danger!

The royal mansion was too quiet, as everyone had gone to sleep, therefore, it was just them. Who would help her?

"Why should I, huh?" Edward questioned. "You really have gotten on my nerves, Avelina. I cannot understand how you can love that asshole and not me. He doesn’t even treat you well!"

He grabbed her waist, starting to stroke all the way down.

Avelina’s eyes widened, and she screamed at the top of her lungs. "HELP ME! Someone help me, please!"

"DRAVEN! Draven, please help—"

Her words turned into a muffle, and Edward angrily grabbed her chin with such harshness that Avelina felt her chin almost dislocate at that instant. He forcefully pressed his lips against hers, kissing her with such aggressiveness.

Avelina struggled beneath him, wanting to break it off—to run from him, but he wasn’t giving her a chance. Hot tears began to trickle from her eyes, suddenly recalling a certain memory again.

How has a peaceful morning escalated to this point? She was almost about to lose her mind when she suddenly felt the weight on her lifted.

She blinked her teary eyes open, and there before her, Draven stood, his hand wrapped around Edward’s neck. He looked like a beast, with burning eyes and nails elongated to the point that his fingers and hands were veiny.

He was furious, beyond what she had ever seen.

Avelina quickly began to crawl back, her shoulders rising and falling as though she couldn’t even catch her breath any longer.

"How. Dare. You. Touch. MY WIFE?!!" Draven shouted in Edward’s face and furiously punched him, also scarring his face in the process.
