Chapter 330: I Would Leave Them!

But Avelina was not complaining. It, in fact, made her want to giggle. The thought of having been smelling like this man all this while—the scent she loved the most caused her belly to flutter.

He smelt so good, which was why she loved being in his arms. They were so comforting, and she could never understand why. Never would she have thought someone’s scent could be a solace.

"I see," she muttered, turning around to walk away.

"Where are you going?" Draven asked, perplexed. Had he said something wrong? But he’d only answered her questions.

Avelina glanced at him with a barely perceptible smile. "I will be at the fountain." She strolled off, giving him no chance to say another word to her.

Arriving at the fountain, she sat down on the bench, taking an immediate breath with her eyes shut.

I feel so...bitter! She clutched at her chest, feeling like it could explode at any moment.

If he’d just accepted her, wouldn’t she be the one he would be spending his time with? Why another woman? Would he be much more comfortable with them?

Yes, he wouldn’t be sharing anything with them other than the fact that he simply needed to satisfy himself, but still, it was infuriating for her. The thought of him and another woman having such deep intimacy made her want to scream.

It should be her—it was supposed to be her, not some other woman!

Despite loving him and despite her being the closest to him, they haven’t even had as much as a proper kiss. Yet another woman would be getting everything that was supposed to be hers. Everything that should have been her’s and only her’s.

Now she suddenly feels like a woman whose husband is being snatched away. Even if she would be leaving soon, it was still eating her up too terribly, and she was sure Draven hadn’t even noticed.

The last thing she would ever want was to see him with another woman. She’d rather strangle herself.

Avelina pinched between her brows, lowering her head with a depressing sigh exiting from her.

"Hello there." A familiar voice sounded.

Avelina quickly lifted her head. Her gaze met those ocean-blue orbs staring down at her with such intensity.

"E-Edward?" she stuttered, nervously fluttering her eyes. After what Draven had said to her about the scent thing, she really did not have any intention of being close to him. She would never want to smell like anyone else other than Draven.

Edward smiled at her. "May I have a seat?"

Avelina was reluctant, but she couldn’t deny him, thus, she shifted quite a bit, wanting to give him enough space and distance so they wouldn’t be too close.

Of course, Edward noticed it, but he ignored it.

"How are you today, Avelina?" he asked.

Avelina responded, not sparing him a glance, "Quite alright, thank you. I hope you’ve been well."

"I have..." Edward could not overlook the sudden change in her behavior. So he went ahead to probe, "Is everything alright with you, Avelina? Is something bothering you?"

"No." Avelina shook her head. "Everything is fine with me."

Edward was not at all convinced. He further pressed, "But you don’t look alright. You look like you are bothered by something. If you want to talk about it, I’m here. I will help as much as I can."

Avelina finally looked at him. Yes, she had something bothering her, and she would really like to ask someone about it. This was even more so—a bothersome thought that would be more fitting to ask a man and perhaps help her understand.

It would be alright to ask him, no?

She took a breath, turning her attention to the fountain.

"Well, I do have something I would like to ask your opinion on," she said.

Edward stared at her, adoring her, but of course, he wasn’t in such a trance that he wasn’t paying attention to her words.

He urged, "Go ahead."

Avelina took a deep breath before asking, "Have you ever been in love before?"

Edward was quite stunned by the question, but he did give an answer. "Yes." His eyes were sparkling.

"Then..." Avelina turned completely to look at him. "If you love someone and want to stay with them even though they may not be able to love you back, what would you do? Would you leave or stay regardless of them not wanting you to be with them?"

Edward frowned, but not too much to make it evident. He answered, "I would leave them!"

"What?" Avelina was surprised by his response. He also seemed quite aggressive with it. "W-why?"

"Because they don’t deserve me!" Edward scoffed, looking away.

"If I am willing to love and be with someone knowing that they won’t love me back, why can’t they just accept me? Why push me away and hurt me more than I already am?"

"You are not that cheap and worthless, Avelina. I hope you do not actually love someone to this extent. Because if you do, then I am really disappointed."

Avelina frantically flickered her eyes. "W-what?"

"Yes." Edward rolled his eyes in hostility. "They don’t deserve you! You deserve better, so search for the better and leave whatever it is that is making you stoop this low." Yes, he could already tell that she was talking about Draven. The more reasons that were driving him insane,

He meant it each time he stated that Draven didn’t deserve Avelina. He was the one who deserved her, and he would definitely treat her better, and give her all the love she may desire. He was already head over heels in love with her anyway.

"But..." Avelina broke the silence. "What if I can’t bring myself to forget him? What if I can’t bring myself to stop loving—"

"Why can’t you?" Edward questioned. "What’s so special about him?"

Avelina furrowed her brows. "What’s so special about him?"

"Yes," Edward spoke aggressively. "There are so many better men out there that would be willing to love you more than you deserve! You are beautiful, Avelina. I mean, look at you!"

Avelina darted her gaze around uncomfortably. "Look at me? Is beauty really all that matters?"
