Chapter 323: My Son!
Chapter 323: My Son!
"Let me go! LET GO OF ME!" Avelina turned, brutally kicking one of the royal guards in the groin. This caused the guard to temporarily let go of her, as he appeared to be in deep pain.
With the use of this open, Avelina attempted to flee the high platform for the ring, but unfortunately for her, Old Master Lenort himself appeared before her in the brink of an eye, harshly gripping her by the hair.
Avelina, who felt the burning pain in her scalp, screamed in agony. She grabbed Old Master Lenort’s wrist, trying to get him to let go, but it was obvious he had no intention of doing so.
"Girl, do you not know you are not meant to interfere?" Old Master Lenort coldly questioned. "You should have sat down in your seat and—"
"LET GO OF ME!" Avelina screamed at him, further infuriating the old man.
"You worthless human!" Old Master Lenort glared at her. He let go of her, but before she could escape, he gripped her by the neck, lifting her into mid-air.
Avelina struggled, finding it hard to breathe. She forced herself to look at Draven and smiled at him.
"P-please don’t leave me!! You cannot die!! Please! You said you would stay with me! You promised me you wouldn’t die! You told me you would be fine, so please, please don’t leave me! Please don’t leave me. I need you, Draven..." She began to sob profusely, her tears dripping onto Old Master Lenort’s hand. "...Don’t leave me."
She threw her head back, suddenly feeling her strength sucked completely. Her hands dropped tiredly to her side, drawing a scoff out of Old Master Lenort.
Draven, from where he knelt, gazed at Old Master Lenort, starting to hear his head go into chaos. His pupils were dilated and burning, and his hands were trembling.
"Take your hands off her!" he mumbled weakly. "Take your...filthy hands off her..."
Aldéric frowned, confused. Something was going wrong! He could smell it. It was causing his skin to crawl.
"Take your filthy hands off her!" Draven shouted suddenly, startling everyone, including old master Lenort himself. "Take your hands off her! Take your hands off her!" A burst of dark energy emerged and surged from him, enveloping the entire hall in one single swoop.
The audience shivered, fear taking over them. Aldéric widened his eyes, his instincts immediately kicking in. His death was near, he could smell it.
Therefore, he made an attempt to escape from Draven, but it was too late because Draven had stretched his veiny hand, snatching him by the throat.
"I SAID, TAKE YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF MY WIFE!!!" he bellowed so loudly that they felt the hall shake for a moment.
Even old master Lenort felt the warning in the depths of his soul, thus making him let go of Avelina instantly. Before Avelina could drop to the floor, Aurora was quick to catch onto her, cuddling her in her arms.
"A-Avelina...are you okay?"
Avelina groaned in deep pain, unable to speak due to the pain she was feeling in her throat.
With Aldéric stuck in his merciless grip, Draven glared at Old Master Lenort, his eyes burning with anger. At that moment, he was no longer under the influence of the damn poison. He was angry beyond what Old Master Lenort had ever seen before. He’d never gotten so furious, not even when he killed his mother. What in the hell was going on?
He would be lying if he said that fear didn’t get a grip on him for a moment there.
"I. Will. Kill. Every. Single. One. Of. You!" Draven threatened. It was once again like those two times he’d lost control over himself, as though someone else had taken control of his body.
He shifted his attention to Aldéric.
Aldéric shivered in fright, his whole life flashing before his eyes. "Young master. Y-young master, please spare—"
Before his words could be completed, Draven tightened his hold on his neck, crushing his neck into nothing but a lump of meat. Aldéric’s head rolled off to the floor, and his body plummeted along with it.
Draven looked at his hand, which was heavily smeared with blood, and diverted his gaze to Ryan, who was still on the floor.
Ryan jolted and began to crawl back, wanting to be as far away as possible from him.
"Don’t come near me, you devil’s son! Stay away from me, you monster!" he screamed, the second Draven began to walk toward him.
One by one, he was going to murder everyone in that hall, except his wife, of course. In his eyes, only she existed and was worth him sparing! He’d lost his mind and couldn’t even make sense of his emotions or what he was doing at that moment.
With a quick motion, Draven grabbed Ryan by the collar of his shirt, lifting him off the ground. He balled his hand into his fist, and with all his strength combined into that one fist, he proceeded to punch Ryan in the face and burst his head into smithereens.
But! TIME STOPPED! All of a sudden.
The entire hall went into silence. No one except old master Lenort could move. He descended the high platform onto the ring. With the knife in his hand, smeared with yet another poison, he stabbed Draven, pushing the knife in to make sure he’d kill him.
"You win! But I won’t let you kill my son!" He snapped his finger, restoring the flow of time.
Draven, whose momentum had been stopped, let go of Ryan and staggered back, falling to his knees. He coughed frantically, blood after blood rushing to his throat and dripping from his mouth.
Ryan dropped to the floor, completely unconscious. He’d fainted due to the fright and shock he experienced at that moment. He had believed that he was dead and nothing could save him.
Old Master Lenort turned to the audience. "This duel did not turn out the way we expected, I deeply apologize."
"You may all exit the hall now," he dismissed.
Although reluctant about everything that had transpired, the audience hesitantly got up from their seats and began to walk out of the hall, their bodies shivering in fear. In less than twenty minutes, the entire hall was devoid of people except the princes, their wives, and Lady Lilith.
"Ryan! My son!" she bellowed from her seat, afraid.
Old Master Lenort glanced at her and walked over to Ryan. He lifted him into his arms and left the ring, leaving Draven, who was lying flat on the floor, to bleed to death.
"No one should attend to him! Let him die," he said coldly, leaving the hall with everyone except Valentine and Avelina.
