Chapter 318: Impossible!
Chapter 318: Impossible!
Olive shook his head. "No."
"Olive, my father wants to use this opportunity to kill Draven," Valentine revealed.
Olive appeared skeptical. "How do you mean? It is a duel."
"Yes, it is. But my father will be adding a dozen of his skilled fighters, including his personal butler, Mr. Aldéric." Valentine combed his fingers through his hair, stressed out. "This man, Aldéric, is very strong. We do not even compare to him in strength, despite being of royal blood. His strength is quite above half of my father’s strength."
"How will Draven fight such a man, including a dozen more fighters and that asshole of a brother? That will be nothing more than courting death."
Olive was at a standstill, not even able to think anymore. His eyes were dilated, completely feeling as though none of it were real. No way would Draven die—not after they had come that far.
He subconsciously shook his head.
"Olive, we need to find Draven and have him back out. The duel cannot commence if one participant refuses," Valentine suggested.
Olive looked at him. "What do you mean, "find him? " Isn’t he at the royal mansion?"
"No." Valentine shook his head. "He is not at the royal mansion. We have also tried calling his number a lot of times, but he isn’t answering. That is why I’m here. I am hoping you will know where he is, or perhaps possibly be."
Olive swallowed hard. "I don’t know where he is. Don didn’t say anything to me or the others, and he certainly didn’t tell us where he was going. We didn’t even know that he left the royal mansion."
"What?" Just like that, every tinge of hope Valentine held flew out the window.
"Then how are we supposed to find him?"
"I don’t know." Olive shook his head, completely clueless.
Valentine glared at him. "What do you mean, "you don’t know?" I thought you might have an idea!"
"How am I supposed to have an idea?" Olive questioned. "Yes, I am aware that he most definitely will be at his estate, but Don has up to eight estates. Where would we begin to look for him? Do we have time?"
That was when Valentine snapped to his senses and quickly looked at his watch. "Six forty-four p.m. Are you kidding me?"
"W-what?" Olive looked at him in confusion.
"Olive, the duel starts in the next hour. We only have sixteen minutes left!!" Valentine looked at him with eyes filled with fear.
Olive frantically darted his gaze around, starting to panic as well. "It will not be possible. I thought we had time, then perhaps we could drop by each estate. Sixteen minutes isn’t even enough to branch out to one of his estates. From here, each of his estates is at least twenty to thirty minutes away."
"If we fly, we could get there in perhaps twenty minutes or maybe less. I am not sure."
"Let’s try our luck." Valentine moved over to stand in front of him.
But Olive disagreed. "Luck is useless here, Valentine. The best option is to keep calling Don."
"Also, it will be good if you can return to the royal mansion. Then wait for him and let him know before the duel begins."
"Wouldn’t it be too late then?" Valentine queried, his emerald eyes filled with skepticism.
Olive sighed. "It is still better than nothing. Even if we can’t get to him on time to have him back out, you can at least give him a heads up on what’s to expect."
"But that doesn’t matter!" Valentine bellowed. "He will still die no matter what and—"
His phone suddenly rang. On the screen was Adam’s name. He answered.
[Young master, please return to the royal mansion]
"Why? What’s wrong?" Valentine asked.
[Your relatives have arrived, and they are settling down in the hall with his majesty. He is looking everywhere for you, including the third prince]
Valentine’s balled into tight fists. "You’ve got to be kidding me!" he cursed, immediately turning around to leave.
"Hey wait!" Olive grabbed his hand, stopping him. "What’s going on? Did something—-"
"I need to go, Olive." Valentine snatched his hand from him and hurried out of the house.
Olive stood, gazing into empty space. How could Draven not say a word to them? Why didn’t he tell them about the duel? What was going on? He couldn’t possibly want to throw his life away now that they had come this far.
Impossible! Olive shook his head and pulled his phone out of the pocket of his pants. He dialed Loui’s number.
——
Avelina was pacing back and forth in her room, nonstop. Draven had yet to come back, and even after an hour, he was still not answering his phone.
A knock came abruptly at the door.
"My lady." Santino’s voice sounded.
Avelina snapped out of drifting thoughts. She hurried to the door and opened it, only to come face-to-face with Aurora, who held a worried look.
"Aurora?" She was baffled.
Aurora grabbed her hand, pulling her out of the room. "Come with me." She began to hurry off, and as soon as they arrived at a quiet place, she turned her attention to Avelina.
"Why hasn’t your husband back out of the duel?" Indeed, she was aware of Old Master Lenort’s plan, considering Lumian had told her. And together, they had come to the conclusion of letting Draven know about it at the very least.
Avelina’s chest rose and she fell into panicked breathing. "We can’t find him, Aurora. I have been calling him, but he isn’t answering. I don’t even know where he went."
Aurora deeply frowned. "He can’t back out of it now, Avelina. It’s already seven o’clock. They are waiting for us!" She glanced from left to right and grabbed Avelina’s hand.
"Let’s go." She began to hurry off while pulling her along with her.
Avelina’s eyes flickered rapidly, uncertainty and panic reflecting in them. "W-wait! Aurora—"
"We don’t have time, Avelina! We mustn’t make the old man angry by arriving late." Aurora cut her off, and they left the royal mansion for the next building, where the duel was taking place.
