Chapter 307: Open Your Mouth For Me
Santino took a low breath. "That is where I am quite clueless, young master."
Draven averted his gaze, adjusting his sitting in the chair.
"Santino."
"Yes, young master," Santino answered.
Draven asked, "Don’t you feel that something is wrong?"
"I do indeed feel so, young master," Santino replied. "But I simply cannot fathom what it is. I do not possess your deductive skills."
"I see..." Draven nodded, taking a sip of his coffee.
"Has my wife eaten?" he questioned.
Santino reluctantly shook his head. "No...young master."
He proceeded to explain, "She seems to be busy with her—"
Draven stood up abruptly from the chair, interrupting him. He looked over at him, saying, "Have the maids deliver some food here. I’ll be back."
He walked away before Santino could even give a response.
Santino gazed at his fading figure and deeply exhaled in an exhausted manner. He left for the kitchen, where the maids resided.
...
Draven turned the knob and opened the door. He stepped inside and glanced over to the bed to see Avelina seated comfortably on the bed and tiredly flipping through her book.
He advanced toward her and stood beside the bed.
"Come with me," he said to her.
Avelina diverted her attention to him. She asked, "Why?"
"You have to eat." Draven’s expression was serious.
"I don’t want to." Avelina shrugged, lying down properly on the bed. "I have no appetite." She covered herself with the duvet.
Draven shut his eyes, taking a deep breath to calm himself down. "Avelina, you will lose weight again if you do not eat properly, so please—"
"It is not your business. You need not be concerned." Avelina cut him off, turning to her side to nap. "Allow me to be!"
Draven pinched between his brows, annoyed. Fed up with her stubborn attitude, he gripped hold of her waist and lifted her off the bed, putting her over his shoulder. Her legs dangled as he began to storm toward the door.
"Draven, what are you doing?" Avelina questioned, her eyes dilated in shock. "Put me down!"
She glared at him while kicking her legs, but that was to no avail, as Draven had no intention to do so.
"Put me down, Draven! Put me down!" She began to hit his back with her small, balled fist, but Draven, who couldn’t even care less, left for the pavilion, unbothered.
Arriving at the pavilion, he gently put her down on her feet, making sure not to hurt her.
He looked at her face, saying, "You will eat, Avelina. I do not mind if I have to force you."
Avelina had a lot to say, but at that moment, all she could do was stare at this man with a slightly fallen jaw.
"Wh..." She could not seem to pinpoint what it was, but there was something that had definitely changed in him since last night.
Draven sat down on the chair and gestured to the chair opposite him. "Sit."
Avelina rolled her eyes in irritation and hesitantly sat down on the chair.
"Eat," with folded arms, Draven said to her.
Avelina gazed at him for a few seconds, and her expression slowly turned sour.
"No." She refused.
Draven scowled at her. "Eat, Avelina."
"I. Said. No," Avelina emphasized adamantly. "I will not eat."
"You little—" Draven held himself back, unwilling to get provoked by her. He took a deep breath and pinched between his brows to retain his calm.
"Avelina, eat! I do not have all—"
"Make me!" Avelina stared at him with taunting eyes, clearly hell-bent on provoking him.
Draven flickered his pupils, at a momentary loss for words. He raised his brow, a look of amusement appearing on his face.
"Oh? I see." He nodded his head. "Alright then." He stood up from his seat and grabbed hold of her hand.
Avelina quickly crumpled her brows, unsure of what he was doing.
"What are you doing?" she questioned.
Draven sat back down on his seat. He pulled her to him, forcing her to sit in between his lap. "You said I should make you, and that is exactly what I’m doing."
"You asked me to!"
Avelina, whose back was pressed against his muscular chest, swallowed hard, nervously gripping the hem of her dress. She could feel his hot breath fanning against her neck as he slanted closer to grab a spoonful of rice.
Draven looked over at her with soft eyes. He ordered, "Open your mouth."
"W-what?" Avelina anxiously swallowed, her eyes broadening. "I-I can feed myself. You don’t have to—"
"Be a good girl and open your mouth for me, Avelina," Draven repeated, his voice low, yet deep.
But seeing her reluctance, he wrapped his hand around her neck, pushing her head against his chest and using the thumb of his left hand to pry open her mouth. He stuffed the spoon of rice into her mouth and watched her with a raised brow.
Avelina began to chew, her lashes batting frantically. "I can feed my—"
"I’ll do it. You just have to open your mouth for me, that is all." Draven half smiled at her and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her to himself. "Why do you have to be so angry with me, Avelina?"
"I don’t like it. I don’t like you being this way with me. I want to hold you, to have you with me, and—"
"No." Avelina shook her head at him. "You can’t."
"Why not?" Draven asked, burying his face in her neck. "Why won’t you let me? I miss being with you so much. Do you not miss me? I told you that what I’m doing is for you. It’s for your sake and no one else’s."
"Stop saying that to me!" Avelina scowled at him. "I do...I do miss you too, but..."
"If you want to hold me and do so much more, then why won’t you let me stay with you? Why are you pushing me away? I told you that I don’t care if you love me or not. I just want to stay with you, and that is enough." She lowered her head, pressing her balled fists against his lap.
