Chapter 303: Do You Blame Him?

Chapter 303: Do You Blame Him?

Draven pulled back and turned around, making his way to the balcony.

Ryan stared at his disappearing figure, his shoulders rising and falling in heavy breathing. "D-daddy’s boy?" His balled fist tightened.

"I. Will. Kill. You!" he emphasized, his aura filled with nothing but bloodlust.

Draven shut the door that led to the balcony and walked over to rest his hands against the average pillar.

He looked up to the sky at the full moon and lifted his hand to clutch onto his neck. He swallowed hard for a few moments and took deep breaths to calm himself down.

A full moon was one of the dreaded nights for vampires, especially the royal-blooded ones. Unlike the common vampires, who seek blood uncontrollably during that time, the royal-blooded vampires rather go into heat while still seeking blood.

It often starts slow and steady and takes a few days to fully manifest, but when it does, it lasts for a few weeks, almost a month. The royal vampires naturally preferred to reproduce at that time, as it appeared much easier and was a guarantee to mate properly.

The cold night wind blew against Draven, and his loose hair fluttered furiously. He pinched between his brows, lowering his head to look at the floor.

She has to leave as soon as possible! He took deep breaths and turned around, walking back to his room.

——

Seated in the bar with Olive, Loui, and the others, Valentine gulped down a glass of alcohol, making sure not to drink too much.

"This is annoying," he said to Olive, who sat beside him.

Olive looked at him with a raised brow. "What is?"

"My brother, of course," Valentine replied. "After everything we did to, you know, make it all perfect, he screwed it."

"Do you blame him?" Olive supported his cheek with his balled fist.

Valentine glanced at him. "Of course not." He shook his head.

"I know the kind of person my brother is, and he definitely didn’t say no because he intended to hurt her. In fact, I know he is doing it for her own good, but still, I feel sorry. Sister-in-law must be hurting." He deeply sighed.

Olive looked away from him, sipping a glass of alcohol. "Maybe we shouldn’t be too quick to assume the whole situation. Perhaps they just need a bit of time to figure things out."

"You think so?" Valentine asked.

Olive nodded his head at him. "Things might just work out in an unexpected way. I think they are definitely meant to be. Perchance, things just weren’t meant to work out in the way that we expected and wanted."

Valentine stared at him for a few moments and slowly smiled, resting his head on the counter of the bar.

"I guess you do possess a point." He took a deep breath.

Olive looked at him, and his gaze shifted to his slender hand that was resting against the counter. He abruptly grabbed his hand and began to examine it with a look of curiosity.

Valentine turned his head to glance at him. "What...are you doing?"

"Why do you paint your nails?" Olive inquired, bewildered.

"Huh?" Valentine raised his head, glimpsing his nails completely painted with black polish. "I just like it." He shrugged.

"Like it?" Olive looked at his nails again. "I mean, it is pretty, but do you really like it?"

Valentine cackled dryly. "I guess. Unlike your nails, mine often appear very white, as though I am sick, which I’m not. So I covered it with black nail polish. Black is my color."

He chuckled softly.

"I see..." Olive nodded. "It suits you, I think."

Valentine laughed, taking another sip of his drink.

Olive abruptly probed, "You are aware it’s a full moon, right?"

"Huh?" Valentine was taken aback. He quickly glanced through the window at the dark sky, and his eyes flickered at the sight of the full moon. "Shit!"

"What are you going to do about it?" Olive further queried.

Valentine tilted his head. "Do about it? We don’t lack blood, and we won’t, so that is not a problem."

"That is not what I am referring to, Valentine. You royal bloods go into heat during a full moon, do you not?" Olive wrinkled his brows at him.

Valentine nodded his head. "Mhm, we do."

"And it lasts for almost a month, does it not?" Olive queried.

Valentine responded, "It does."

"So what are you going to do about it?" Olive cocked a brow. "What will you do about your traumatic situation?"

Valentine blinked frantically, drawing a deep breath.

"Nothing."

"Nothing?" Olive was surprised.

"Why nothing? Don’t you think this could be an opportunity for you to get over your trau—"

"It is not that easy, Olive. The thought of it is making my skin crawl." Valentine cut him off, his body shivering.

Olive exhaled, shaking his head. "So then, what will you do?"

"I will request a suppressant from my father. That is what he has been giving to me these past few years during a full moon." Valentine smiled.

Olive was obviously flabbergasted. He could not help but inquire, "Your father cares...for you?"

"I wish!" Valentine scoffed. "I honestly don’t know why he gives the suppressants to me. Maybe he feels a bit guilty."

"You think so?" Olive raised a brow.

Valentine fluttered his eyes, seeming confused. "I don’t know."

"Aren’t you a bit suspicious, Valentine? Last time you told me he didn’t care and he wasn’t sorry, so how could he be going through the trouble of giving you suppressants?" Olive’s face crumpled in skepticism. "I don’t know, but that does not sound like something your father would do considering the sort of inhumane person he is."

He looked away, gulping the full glass of alcohol.

Valentine swallowed hard, suddenly becoming worried and confused.

How had he never wondered? Olive was indeed right. For the sort of person his father was, he would never give him suppressants for his conditions. That was something only someone who cared would do.

What is going on? Why didn’t I think of it? He ran his fingers through his hair, heavily disturbed.
