Chapter 295: You Look...Breathtaking

Thalia quickly covered her mouth, her eyes nervously flickering rapidly.

Avelina frowned. She was aware and could already tell what it was that they were speaking about.

She exhaled, relaxing in the bathtub and letting them bathe her. It took a few more minutes until they were done, and Avelina walked out of the bathroom, wrapped up in a white towel.

They took the towel off, took proper care of her, and helped her into her undergarments.

Camilla strolled over to the bed and picked up the dress. She scrutinized it and couldn’t help but smile.

"This is such a pretty color, my lady. It will suit you so very well," she said.

Thalia nodded, concurring. "Mhm, hm, it’s a lovely dress."

Avelina sheepishly smiled to herself. She spread her arms, and they carefully helped her into the dress. Camilla moved behind her and zipped it up, then proceeded to adjust the short, slim arm of the dress.

Done, they took a step back and began to examine her from head to toe.

"Look at yourself in the mirror, my lady," Thalia spoke.

Avelina turned around and glanced at the tall mirror in the dressing room. Her eyes slowly flickered, and she found herself completely in love with the dress. Draven had always known what she liked. His tastes were so refined that anything he got for her, she couldn’t help but fall in love with, because he’d always chosen the best.

"It’s so...beautiful," she subconsciously said, unable to keep her eyes off the dress.

Camilla and Thalia nodded, their smiles as wide as the ocean. "It is my lady. It compliments you just as much as red suits you."

Avelina turned around to look at them.

"Thank you," she appreciated.

"May we fix your hair?" Thalia inquired.

Avelina gave a nod. She walked out of the dressing room with them and strolled over to the chair at the table to sit down.

Camilla applied fine oil to her hair and grabbed the brush from the table. Thalia, on the other hand, did the task of picking out the simple golden hairpin that would most certainly suit her.

Gradually, she adorned her hair with it, and once she was done, she took a step back with Camilla. They asked, "Do you like it?"

Avelina glanced at her hair through the mirror and smiled. Of course, she loved it. They made her look like some sort of princess.

The pins were small, so they used them to pin a few parts of her hair to each other, leaving them in fine, curly steps. Regardless, it made her hairstyle simple and very nice in appearance.

"Mhm. I love it." She beamed.

Thalia clapped her hands a bit and stepped closer to her. "Now, all that is left is to give you some tipsy bitsy makeup. You barely need one, but it wouldn’t hurt, would it?"

"No." Avelina shook her head, shrugging.

....

Draven stared at himself in the mirror. He was clad in simple, perfectly pressed trousers and a fine turtleneck, all in his usual white color. Above them, he was putting on a well-tailored long pristine white furry coat that stopped just at knee length, giving him a clean, smart look.

A soft breath fled his nose, and he tilted his head to his side. He was thinking of letting his hair down, but for some reason, it just didn’t feel right.

Would a simple man bun be better? He narrowed his eyes in deep thought, and eventually, coming to a decision, he rolled his hair up into a man bun and banded it with a rubber band. He wore his glasses, slipped his feet into his shoes, and left the room.

With his hands stuffed into the pocket of his coat, he approached the door of the room Avelina was in and halted. He glanced at Santino.

"Is she done?" he asked.

Santino gave him a nod. "Yes, young master."

Draven grabbed the knob and opened the door. He entered, shutting it behind him. He turned around and came to a stop. Slowly, his eyes lifted, halting on Avelina, who stood as though she had been waiting for him.

Perfect! was the first word that echoed in his head. She was the word "perfection" in his eyes. She looked just like he’d imagined.

The dress suited her just like he had pictured it when he’d bought it for her.

"You look...breathtaking," he instinctively said, his eyes trailing up to stare into her hazel pearls. Unlike usual, it shone brighter that night, he could nearly see his reflection in them.

She’d stolen his breath with her wide smile, her natural beauty as lovely as sunshine itself.

He was interested in how the light of the chandelier caught her hair, the auburn flame of it flickering in the silky ginger depths. Her hair was beautiful and so well pinned and coiled that it wound neatly around her head.

Yet again, he’d imagined, at that moment, undoing those pins and running his fingers through them. It would be so much of a delight—so he could feel...

He wished to walk up to her—to hug her, bury his face in her neck, and indulge in her scent. This he did intuitively before he could even snap back to his senses.

Avelina stood, locked in his big arms, unable to move. She could feel his cold breath fanning against her skin where he had buried his face, but she could not stop him. She loved every bit of it and the sense of having him near her. Her body, soul, and mind wholeheartedly savored every tinge of this man’s presence and burning touch.

For a moment, she couldn’t find any words. Watching him stand right there a few seconds ago, look at her with those dark scarlet eyes, and speak to her in his deep, gentle voice made her feel like only she existed. Almost.

"Are you ready?" Draven mumbled against her neck.

Avelina nodded. "Mhm, I am."

Draven pulled back from the hug and looked at her face. He cupped her cheek in his palm and leaned in, tenderly placing a soft kiss on the tip of her button nose.
