Chapter 294: Have You Two Neve Been On A Date?
The first thing Avelina could not help but think of was how much such a dress would be worth. This looked to be the best out of all the dresses he had ever gotten for her.
*Ahem* Draven cleared his throat, saying, "I know...it is not your color, but I really think it would fit you very well. Gold samples would look breathtaking on you.
Avelina batted her lashes and glanced at the dress. She looked at Draven and suddenly smiled widely, showing off her gum due to her smile being a gummy smile.
This caused Draven’s eyes to light up instantly. Her smile...just like that, he loved it ever so dearly. It’d never failed to brighten his mood.
He drew a soft breath and adjusted his shirt.
"Your maids will be coming to help you, so I will be in the other room. When I am done, I will come to find you, okay?"
Avelina nodded at him, her smile never fading. She watched Draven leave the room, and as soon as he was gone, she stood up on the bed and began to jump up and down on it. Her eyes narrowed in a wide beam.
She climbed down from the bed, and with her bare feet, she began to dance around the room, twirling from left to right.
Right there at that moment, nothing mattered any longer; she was going to be going on a date with the man she loved, not with a man forced on her. This was actually better than her sister’s date would ever be. They never got to be with the one they loved, after all, their father was selective and heavily religious.
It was always an arranged marriage, and it had to be an arranged one. The man to whom they had been betrothed never even took them on a date because they wanted to. But they did it all in the name of formality.
They never bought pretty dresses for her sisters, and it was her father who always did so.
Her case was different, wasn’t it? The man she loved seemed to love her as well; he did things no other man would do for her. She never asked for a date, but he made it possible.
Suddenly, Avelina was feeling as though she were Cinderella. She felt like she was in a fairytale and she was the center of attention.
Oh, how wonderful it would be to see the look on the faces of her sisters. But!
She immediately came to a stop.
They must and could never know. Draven wasn’t human, and the consequences would be high if they found out she was in love with a vampire. They would never let her off the hook.
Avelina’s expression fell into sudden sadness. If only humans and vampires didn’t hate each other, she could have loved this man without fear.
But who cares?
Unwilling to ruin her mood, she shook her head. It doesn’t matter whether they’d be angry or not. She loved Draven, and that was the truth. She could not deny it and would never deny it!
She chuckled to herself and proceeded to twirl, but the sudden knock that came at the door had her come to an immediate halt.
She asked, "Who is it?"
"My lady, it is us, Thalia and Camilla." Thalia’s voice resounded.
"Oh." Avelina quickly opened the door since she was close to it. She beamed at the sight of Thalia and Camilla, who each held polite smiles on their faces.
"Good evening, my lady." They dipped in curtsy.
Avelina responded, "Good evening."
"Young Master has asked for us to give you a helping hand," Camilla said.
Avelina nodded, agreeing. "Yes. I’d like to have a bath, and my hair—"
"We know, my lady." Thalia chortled happily, walking forward to interlock her arms with hers’
"Let’s fix you up," Camilla said, stopping next to her to grab her left arm. Together, they left for the bathroom.
While they washed her hair and her body, Avelina could not help but begin to inquire out of curiosity, "Have you two ever been on a date before?"
"A date?" Thalia glanced at her wet face. She shook her head, smiling sadly.
"No, my lady, we have not."
Avelina parted her wet hair that fell over her face to peek at her. She asked, "But why? You two are quite old. It’s hard to believe that neither of you has been on a date."
Camilla burst into laughter and playfully splashed a handful of water on her face, causing her to accidentally swallow a little bit.
"Urgh! That’s disgusting, Camilla!" Avelina glared at her.
Camilla shook her head, amused. She said, "My lady, do not assume."
"Assume what?" Avelina raised her brow, resting her arms on the left side of the bathtub. She blew onto the wet hair that latched into her face, attempting to get it off.
"Well, there is a reason why we have not experienced any of that," Camilla replied. She did her the honor of removing the strands of wet hair off her face.
Avelina wrinkled her brows. "Really? Why?"
"We are the maidens of this royal mansion," Thalia chirped in, answering.
"Huh?" Avelina was confused. "What does that have to do with your love life?"
Thalia smiled cynically. "My lady, you see, according to our culture, maidens of the royal mansion are not allowed to marry, fall in love, or whatever. We belong to the royal family, and this is where we live, grow, and die. Camilla and I have been here since we were little girls."
Avelina’s wet, long brown lashes flickered in disbelief. "Wait, what? So...none of you have liked a boy before?"
"We have." Camilla laughed, shaking her head. "But we just never made a move."
"That’s so saddening." Avelina shrugged, still inwardly flabbergasted.
Thalia chortled, amused.
"It is indeed saddening when you say it like that. Alas, there is nothing we can do about it. His Majesty would kill us if we dared."
"Young master Draven and Valentine’s mothers were killed for a reason. This—"
"Thalia!" Camilla immediately glared at her, shutting her up.
