Chapter 286: You Won’t Get Away With This!
It definitely cannot be the reason.
Ryan shook his head and took a deep breath.
"You asshole!" He began to curl his hands into a tight fist. "Do you think that you would get away with murdering my wife? You had no right to do so, even if she almost killed your wife! You had no fucking right!"
His body trembled in fury, and he deeply exhaled, calming himself down. "You won’t get away with this. I assure you, Draven. You will pay!" he emphasized, his eyes filled with hatred and ill intent.
Letting his wife die just like that would be cowardly of him. Draven will and must pay for the death of his wife.
——
Draven, who had slept long enough with Avelina cuddling beside him, blinked his eyes open.
He gazed at the ceiling for a moment before proceeding to sit up on the bed, but Avelina, who lay beside him, wrapped her arms around him, comfortably adjusting herself.
Draven looked at her sleeping face and could not help but tap her button nose. He playfully pulled on her cheek, suddenly wishing he could just close his eyes and sleep more with her, but knowing he had something to do, he carefully shifted her and got off the bed.
He had a quick bath, slipped into his casual outfit, which was of course white, and wore his shoes. He reached for his glasses that were on the bedside table and proceeded to leave, but as though having thought of something, he took a step back to the bed and squatted beside to look at Avelina’s face.
"I’ll be back. Sleep well." He caressed her hair tenderly with a light smile evident on his lips.
Draven straightened up and left the room. He strode through the general foyer and went straight for Valentine’s quarter.
Upon arrival, he frowned and left a light knock on the door. Adam was nowhere to be seen, so all he could do was knock.
But no response came.
He became a bit concerned, so instead of knocking this time around, he simply turned the knob, opening the door. He stepped inside and looked around, only for his gaze to fall on Valentine, who was lying on the bed in a very disorganized manner. His duvet and pillows were scattered on the floor.
Valentine had always been a bad sleeper since he was a child, but he never thought that he still was. He was a grown man, after all.
Draven’s expression contorted in irritation, and he began to pick up the pillows one by one. While he did, he tried to wake him up. "Valentine!"
Valentine turned on the bed, lying on his side. The sudden rays of sun coming in through the window shone heavily on his eyes, causing him to slowly blink his lashes apart. He took a soft breath and went still at the sight of Draven, who stood by the suddenly opened window.
Quickly, he jolted up on the bed in a sitting position.
"Draven? What are you doing in my room?" he asked, confused.
Draven flickered his lazy eyes, seeming unbothered. "We have to leave."
"To where?" Valentine scrunched his face.
Draven replied, "You told me to let you know when it was time to help me out, so..."
"Oh..." Valentine face-palmed himself. "What even is the time?" He glanced at the wall clock, and his expression dropped at the sight of five p.m.
He jumped down from the bed and staggered toward the bathroom, his lean, long legs wobbling.
Draven stared at his disappearing figure with a raised brow. "I’ll be waiting on the balcony. Meet me there when you are done." He walked out of the room, leaving Valentine to have his shower.
It took a long few minutes before Valentine was done. He dressed himself up in casual wear and ruffled his hair after giving it a quick combing. He shoved his hands into the pocket of his leather pants and left his quarter to meet with Draven.
Just as Draven had asked of him, they met on the balcony and proceeded outside to the compound.
Draven unlocked his car, letting Valentine take the passenger seat while he took the driver’s seat.
"Where are we going?" Valentine asked.
As he drove off onto the road, Draven responded, "To meet my workers. You would be working with them."
"Oh..." Valentine nodded and rested his head against the window.
They arrived at one of the villas where Draven had asked Olive and the others to come. Of course, he was not going to take Valentine to the main estate where Loui and every one of them lived together.
He drove in through the archway and parked the car. He stepped down, and Valentine followed suit.
Valentine lifted his head, glancing at the villa with a raised brow.
"I can’t count how many villas you own at this point." He chuckled.
Draven had no reaction. He shut the door and began to approach the entrance of the mansion. Valentine hurried after him, and they walked through the door, making their way into the luxurious living room.
Per his call, Loui and every single one of them were already waiting diligently. They were each seated on the sofa—some with their heads thrown back in boredom and some completely immersed in their phones.
The first to notice Draven was Prince. He quickly stood up from the couch and respectfully gave a slight bow. "Don."
They got up as well, instantly stopping what they were doing. They gave a light bow and glanced behind Draven, able to smell a different presence.
"Valentine." Draven looked behind him.
Slowly, Valentine stepped out from behind him with an awkward expression on his face.
Draven went ahead to introduce him, "This is my little brother, Valentine. All of you will be working with him to do what I asked of you."
They slightly nodded their heads, their eyes giving Valentine a thorough, quick scan. All except Olive and Lucien were seeing him up close for the first time.
