Chapter 274: Rest In Peace!

Chapter 274: Rest In Peace!

This caused all attention to shift to Natasha. They were confused and could only watch as she fell off her chair, dropping onto the floor. She began to roll around on the floor, unable to bear the level of torture she was going through.

The first to rush to her was Aurora, who was the closest to her. "Natasha! Natasha, what’s wrong with—"

Ryan immediately pushed her aside, causing her to fall to the floor.

"Ouch!’ Aurora quickly gripped her stomach, feeling the impact on her belly.

Why had Ryan pushed her so hard? Her face scrunched in pain, knowing very well that at the stage she was in her pregnancy, she needed to be very careful, or else she could lose her baby.

"Hey! Don’t you dare hurt my wife!" Lumian, who had seen it, bellowed, infuriated with Ryan.

Ryan looked at him, his face scrunched heavily in worry and anger. "Fuck off! My wife is in fucking pain!"

"You asshole!" Lumian yelled at him and quickly rushed over to Aurora. He gently lifted her into his arms, being careful enough to make sure she was alright. "Are you hurt? Did he hurt you? Where do you feel pain?"

"I’m fine. It doesn’t hurt much. I just..." Aurora paused, taking a deep breath. Ryan had pushed her really hard, and she, having not expected it, could not help herself at all.

"It’s alright. You will be fine!" Lumian’s eyes alone were filled with fear. He could not bear seeing his wife hurt, especially now that she was pregnant.

Avelina, who was by the side, appeared really concerned for Aurora. She approached, looking over at Aurora, who was in Lumian’s arms.

"Are you...okay?" she inquired, her tone filled with worry.

Aurora gave a nod. "Mhm, I’m okay."

Lumian glanced at Avelina. He flickered his eyes, but he did not say a word.

The entire hall was in chaos. The guests were hurrying about, wondering what had happened. Murmurs coming from one individual to another left the whole hall filled with ear-piercing noises.

Ryan, who was suffering the most due to it, grabbed his head, able to hear thought after thought. He could not stop it, nor could he block it! There were too many!

He breathed heavily, his eyes rolling back to the back of his head. Unable to take it anymore, he screamed, "STOP IT! Just STOP IT!!"

His shoulders rose and fell in heavy breathing, and he fell to his knees beside Natasha, who was no longer moving.

"Natasha." He pulled her into his arms, cradling her. "N-Natasha...can you...can you hear me?" His voice trembled with deep terror.

It couldn’t be what he was thinking, right? She could possibly have just fainted—nothing more than that, right?

"She’s not moving, Ryan! Is she breathing?" Old master Lenort, who stood by the side, questioned.

Ryan swallowed hard and reached out his trembling finger to touch Natasha’s nose. He wanted to feel her hot breath. If the problem was that she had fainted, then surely he would still be able to feel her breathing, but if it was the latter, then...

Ryan’s heart dropped to his stomach the second he felt nothing. He shivered violently and went completely still. "No, no, no, no, no! NOOOOOO!!!!" he screamed at the top of his lungs, startling everyone, including Old Master Lenort.

"Ryan...what’s wrong?" Old Master Lenort questioned, his eyes narrowing into a thin line.

Ryan, with a slow motion, turned his head to look at his father. He spoke emotionlessly. "My wife is...dead." It was as though everything happening felt like a dream to him. There was no way it could be real, right? Natasha was fine throughout the day. There was no way she could be dead.

Avelina, who stood by the side, gazed at Natasha’s lifeless body. All she could think of was the fact that this could have been her a few weeks ago. She would have been the one announced dead if Aurora and Draven hadn’t saved her.

Although I feel quite sorry for you...you deserved it. You had no sympathy when you tried to kill me so painfully. I mustn’t feel sympathy for you either. You reap what you sow. She let out a soft breath as she thought inwardly and averted her gaze.

Draven, who was still seated on his chair with his legs crossed and his head tilted, took a deep breath.

"Rest in peace," he muttered to himself, shutting his eyes to have a moment to himself.

His brows suddenly furrowed in confusion, having stopped hearing the non-stop murmurs of the crowd. Hesitantly, he opened his eyes and looked around to see that everyone was suddenly frozen.

This caused his pupils to dilate in confusion and shock.

"What is...going on?" Even Avelina was frozen as well. Everyone but him was frozen.

Beyond perplexed, he began to look around, wondering if it was a sudden dream or a warped reality.

The abrupt snap of a finger sounded, and what happened next had Draven still in his spot.

Avelina, from where she stood, swiftly moved her body, her shoulders specifically. She grabbed hold of her dress and ran down the stairs, hurrying to the dance floor.

The next to move were the musicians, who began to play strings of music. But this melody was not okay, because anyone who heard it could tell it was something evil. It sounded so otherworldly that no one would believe these musicians were actually playing it. They felt controlled against their will.

Avelina, like a controlled puppet, moved her body and began to dance to the melody of the haunting music.

Draven stood gazing at her, unable to comprehend what he was witnessing.

"Avelina..." he mumbled subconsciously, completely at a loss for words.

He looked around the hall, his face scrunching heavily in anger. Someone was doing this—he was very sure about it! The music, Avelina suddenly dancing for no reason as though a puppet—it was someone’s doing and he needed to find who it was!
