Chapter 266: I Will Wear What My Husband Got For Me

Avelina scrunched her face.

"That was two months ago. I can’t possibly be the same!" She rolled her eyes, annoyed. She swore she could have collapsed if she hadn’t escaped from Lara’s vicious grip on the threads.

Mrs. Lara clutched her chest, surprised. "You have added quite the weight, my lady."

"Mhm, I have." Avelina nodded. "My husband, unfortunately, feeds me a bit too much, I can’t resist." She chuckled, amused.

"What do we do about this?" Mrs. Lara asked. "I cannot possibly sew you a brand new fine dress in two hours. That is impossible."

Avelina softly exhaled.

"That is alright. My husband already bought me a dress. Besides, he does not want me to wear this, so it is useless. He has the perfect dress for me." She smirked.

Natasha frowned. "What do you mean, "he does not want you to wear this?" Do you want to look different from us or what?"

Avelina turned around and looked at her. "Yes! Yes, I do want to look different, Natasha! You don’t think that I would love to wear a dress similar to yours, do you? Oh, please, I’d rather wear rags."

"My husband got the perfect dress for me. It’s so pretty and just what I want. I wouldn’t trade it for...this." She pointed at what she wore and shook her head.

Mrs. Lara stepped forward. "But my lady, his majesty wants all of you—"

"Mrs. Lara, you just said that you cannot make me a new dress in two hours, right?" Avelina shifted her attention to her.

Mrs. Lara nodded at her. "You are right."

"Then allow me to be." Avelina was fed up at this point. "Since you cannot possibly make me a new fine dress that is my actual size and would let me breathe, I will wear what my husband got for me. I’m sure his majesty would not complain."

"It is not like I rejected the dress, nor would I not have come if you had called in and measured me like you did the others. None of this is my fault, but yours." She gripped the dress and walked over to the door to leave.

Thalia, who was dumbfounded by how the situation unfolded, quickly took Avelina’s dress, which she had forgotten to change into, and hurried after her.

"My lady, wait, your corset is..." She paused, confused as to why Avelina was hurrying back to her room. "... Your corset is loose, my lady."

Avelina’s face was contorted in annoyance. She stormed into her room, and Thalia walked in after her.

Without hesitation, Avelina took the dress off. She changed into a new set and threw the dress over to Thalia.

"Either take it back to Mrs. Lara or get rid of it."

"Yes, my lady." Thalia nodded and hurried out of the room with the dress.

Avelina plopped down on the bed, exhausted. "Matching dress, my foot." Her eyes were filled with disdain.

...

By the time Draven arrived back in the next hour, Avelina had fallen asleep on the couch. She was curled up like a softball.

Draven pushed the door open. He took a step in and shut the door behind him. His eyes scanned the room and immediately halted on Avelina, who was fast asleep on the couch.

"Avelina." He quickly hurried over to her and squatted down next to her.

He poked her cheek with the intention of waking her up. "Avelina, wake up. You need to get ready."

Avelina slowly blinked her eyes open. She yawned and met Draven’s confused gaze.

"What...is the time?"

"Six-fifty p.m. The ceremony starts at eight, and our drive is a thirty-minute drive. Get up." Draven grabbed her hands, pulling her up to her feet.

He said, "Take your bath, quick. You’ll be leaving with Santino first, I will come a bit later."

"Wait, what?" Avelina frowned. "But I don’t want to go without you!"

Draven stared into her ears and replied, saying, "I know that you do not want to, but there is something I must do, and if you go with me, you will be delayed."

"Santino will be with you, so there is nothing for you to worry about, alright?"

Although reluctant and unwilling, Avelina nodded her head at him. She walked off, making her way into the bathroom.

While she left to bathe, Draven exited the room for a long phone call.

It took about twenty minutes for Avelina to be done. She stepped out of the bathroom, quickly making her way over to the dressing room.

The dress Draven had bought for her was still perfectly packaged. She hadn’t even seen it completely.

With a deep breath escaping her mouth, Avelina took the dress out. She watched as its full length rolled to touch the floor, and her eyes could not help but glitter in amazement.

This was probably the nicest, prettiest dress she had ever seen.

It was a red dress with a fine, expensive silk material that had a much darker tone of red at the bottom. It was embodied with diamond crusts, which sparkled under the bright light of the chandelier in their room.

The designs had steps of pieces above each other, giving them the design of a flower. On each side of the waistline was a pretty bow attached to it, which gave off the impression of holding the lower piece to the top piece.

The side of the dress was split from the thigh to the feet, making a bit of her legs visible while she walked. The neck of the dress was of a Grecian design—one that thoughtfully covered the back to protect her scars but was quite visible in the front, which appeared appealing to the eyes.

Avelina took a deep breath in awe, smiling. She slipped out of her robe and into her undergarment. Then carefully, she wore the dress and proceeded to zip it up, but that was when she realized that it had no zipper, rather, it was a corset type of dress.

Her expression dropped in weariness, and she turned around, exiting the dressing room with her black, not-so-high heels in hand.

"Draven!" she called as soon as she was out in the bedroom.
