Chapter 247: Bonjour, Mr. Hamilton

Chapter 247: Bonjour, Mr. Hamilton

The woman wrinkled her brows at him, aware that she had never seen him before. "Who are you?" she questioned.

Olive answered, "My name is Olive, and this is, um, my partner, Loui. We are new to the cathedral, so we decided to pay Mr. Hamilton a visit. We brought some gifts as well." He pointed to the boxes of gifts stocked on top of each other.

At the sight of it, the lady’s eyes narrowed in surprise, which did not fail to cross Loui and Olive’s notice.

"Ahem!" She cleared her throat and looked at Olive. "Give me a moment. I will talk to Mr. Hamilton." She shut the door.

Olive looked at Loui, and Loui shook his head, seeming to be having the same thoughts as him. Who doesn’t like riches? Of course, everyone does. They knew that coming there with loads of gifts would give the Hamiltons a good impression. They were still humans, after all.

"Are you sure this will work out?" Loui inquired, a bit nervous.

Olive turned around to glimpse him. "Of course. Why no—" He went quiet the second he saw Loui’s eyes widen. "What’s wrong?"

"Olive, your tattoos! They are showing!" Loui whispered to him. He didn’t want to sound too loud.

Olive scrunched his brows. "My tattoos?"

"Yes!" Loui quickly appeared close to him at the speed of light. He grabbed his shirt and quickly buttoned up the rest of its open buttons.

They quickly took a perfect standstill as soon as the door creaked open. A figure that belonged to none other than Avelina’s mother showed itself, and her hazel eyes moved from Olive to Loui.

"Are you two, the ones?" she queried.

Olive and Loui glanced at each other. They nodded at her.

"Come inside," the woman said, turning around to gesture at them.

Loui took a glance at the boxes. "Um, the gifts. We shouldn’t leave them—"

"Don’t worry about them," the woman interrupted. "Someone will be sent to get them. Come in."

Loui nodded his head. "I see." He still could not get over the fact that the resemblance between this woman and Lady Avelina was insane. They were almost like twins. The only difference was that the lady was very older, thus you could immediately tell that she was her mother.

They followed the lady into the house and to the living room. The woman finally came to a stop. She turned around and stared at them.

"My husband is over there at the meeting table. You can go over there to see him." She pointed at the corner of the living room where a man with blonde curly hair mixed with gray strands sat with a newspaper in his hands.

He was aware that Olive and Loui were in there, but he wasn’t sparing them even a glance.

"Thank you." Loui politely smiled at the lady. Together with Olive, they proceeded to the table where the man sat.

"Bonjour, Mr. Hamilton," they greeted.

But this man still didn’t spare them a glance. He aggressively flipped his newspaper and continued reading.

Confused, Olive and Loui looked at each other, unable to fathom what the problem could be. Surely, if it weren’t for this task, they wouldn’t be standing there before a mere unworthy human, feeling like peasants.

Loui balled his hands into fists. "Sir—"

"Have a seat." Mr. Hamilton finally spoke.

Loui shut his eyes, letting out a deep breath. He took his seat after Olive, and they sat, peering at Mr. Hamilton.

Mr. Hamilton finally averted his attention from the newspaper. The first person he looked at was Loui, and then he shifted his stare to Olive. His brow arched.

The first thing he couldn’t help but dislike was Olive’s style of haircut. It was a side haircut, with the middle long hair neatly wrapped in a bun. A few strands were nicely falling over his face.

His gaze moved downstairs and came to a stop on Olive’s neck. Tattoos! Sure, Olive’s shirt was completely buttoned up, but he could still glimpse a bit of his tattoo that was peeking out.

Indecent! was his first thought.

The other one, who was blonde like him—he was referring to Loui—looked decent enough. Although, from his eyes, he could tell that he was a womanizer. A man who loved women too much!

To him, these two were not at all acceptable.

"What do you want?" he questioned.

"Ahem!" Olive cleared his throat, but before he could speak, Loui chirped in, taking over.

He smiled. "Well, we are new to the cathedral, so we thought it would be nice to visit you."

"We brought gifts as well," he added.

"Oh." Mr. Hamilton furrowed his brows. He glanced at his wife, and his wife nodded at him in response.

He returned his attention to Olive and Loui and crossed his legs. "I see. So what do you want?"

"Want?" Loui asked. "Of course, we do not want anything. We are merely here to see you." He laughed softly.

Going straight to the point would not be good at all. It is never okay in situations like these. They needed to keep the conversation going, and then he would indirectly bring it up and make his inquiries.

Mr. Hamilton took a deep breath, and his expression slowly darkened. "It is quite a big surprise that you attend the cathedral."

"I know that the both of you are not here to see me for the sake of seeing me. You are here for another reason. So spit it out and be done with it. I don’t have the time to waste on the both of you."

This left both Olive and Loui speechless. What the heck was with his intimidating and authoritative mannerisms? This man was not at all like any human. It’s even hard to believe he was Lady Avelina’s father.

Olive chuckled awkwardly and darted his gaze around. "Apologies if we have unintentionally offended you..."

"No, you have not. I have met worse people than the both of you." Mr. Hamilton flipped to the next page of his newspaper.
