Chapter 243: Do I Make You Uncomfortable?

Olive further added, "Our scent is covered, so we are just like a normal human to them, understand?" He arched his brow, expecting an answer from him.

Loui slowly nodded. "Understood."

"Now, let’s go and stop behaving like a kid that you are not. Ava wouldn’t even be afraid if she were in your shoes, regardless of the fact that she is the weakest of all of us." Olive laughed, amused.

Loui glared at him. "Fine! Please shut up now and stop rubbing it in my face."

"I wouldn’t if you behaved like a grown man." Olive shrugged and flew towards a secluded area. There, they retracted their wings and slipped into their coats.

Loui looked up at the sky and exhaled. "The sun will begin rising by five. We need to be quick and return before five."

"Yes." Olive agreed with him. He said, "I heard that those who go to the cathedral visit there at night. Perhaps for prayers, I’m not sure. But if we do go in, we might be lucky enough to see the Hamilton family. Then we can confirm if they are Lady Avelina’s family or not."

"And after that?" Loui asked.

Olive responded, "We will find out about this man that Lady Avelina was supposed to be married to. Don wanted information on him."

Loui took a deep breath and gave a nod. "Let’s go!"

They left the area and began to proceed down the street towards the cathedral, which had lights gleaming from the huge windows.

Loui and Olive came to a stop in front of the double door, which was surprisingly open. Inside, quite a number of humans were seated in each of their respective seats in a coordinated manner.

They glanced at each other, and Olive nodded at Loui. Together, they made their way into the cathedral and began to walk further inside to approach one of the empty seats.

"I don’t see any sign of them," Loui whispered to Olive in a barely audible tone.

Olive responded back, "I believe they have yet to make an appearance. Perhaps we came a bit too early. Let’s wait a bit longer."

They waited for about a few minutes before the bell in the cathedral suddenly rang. From the curtains behind the podium, a middle-aged man stepped out.

He had blonde curls and very deadly sets of eyes that screamed seriousness and no mercy. He had wrinkles, and not even a slight smile was visible on his face.

Loui and Olive looked at each other, seeming to have the same thought.

"Is that him?" Loui inquired.

Olive nodded. "I believe so."

"If he is here already, then where is the wife?" Loui’s eyes were scanning their surroundings.

Olive crumpled his brows. "She must be somewhere around this ar—"

His sentences stuck in his throat the second he glimpsed a woman seated at a far-end corner.

Her hair was just as curly as Lady Avelina’s hair. They were the same, and she had hazel eyes as well, just like Lady Avelina does. If not for the bit of age that showed on her face and the barely gray strands in her hair, they could have mistaken her for Lady Avelina. Their striking resemblance was insane!

"Oh...my...goodness..." Loui’s jaw dropped.

"There is no difference at all. That is definitely her mother. They are her family." Olive’s voice was low.

Beside the woman was seated two other ladies. One looked very young with blonde hair and the other looked older, with blonde hair as well. They had similar looks to Avelina, but they were barely perceptible.

"That must be her sisters," Olive concluded. "Let’s go!" he said to Loui.

Loui nodded. He quietly followed him out of the cathedral, and as soon as they were outside, Loui pulled out the pen and paper in his pocket. "We need to get the address of their home, right?"

Olive gave a nod, taking the note and pen from him. He looked around and politely advanced toward a young lady. He didn’t want to come off rude or creepy.

"Bonjour, Madame," he greeted, his smile warm and optimistic.

The lady glanced at him. At first, she frowned, not quite congenial to a stranger approaching her. But perceiving no sort of threat from Olive, she relaxed a bit.

"Bonjour," she replied. "What may I help you with?"

Olive went ahead to query, "Do you perhaps know the address of the owners of this cathedral?"

"Why do you ask?" The lady raised her brow, a bit suspicious.

Olive smiled. "Oh, I am new to the cathedral, so I was hoping I could get the address of the owners. I’d love to pay them a visit sometime. It would be quite a ride to ask since there is a prayer going on inside right now. That is why I thought it would be better to inquire from a pedestrian."

The lady was quiet for a moment before clearing her throat. Her body language hinted at her displeasure, but regardless, she was willing to give the address to Olive.

"Merci," Olive appreciated. He walked back to Loui, and together, they left to return to the hotel.

——

It was an early, bright morning after the last cold night. Avelina sat at the table in the pavilion, staring at her food. She had been that way for five minutes straight, and it was clear that she had no appetite at all.

Draven settled down opposite her, twirling the teaspoon inside the cup of his coffee. He would glance at Avelina every now and then, quite uncomfortable and worried.

He could not help but ask, "Are you alright?"

Avelina awkwardly looked at him. She nodded and averted her gaze.

"Do I make you uncomfortable?" Draven took a deep breath, stopping what he was doing.

"Huh?" Avelina quickly looked at him.

Draven said, "If I do make you uncomfortable, you should tell me so." He stood up from the chair. "Avelina..." he paused. It looked like he had something to say, but he just did not know how to say it.

Avelina stared at him, perplexed. What was the problem?
