A Game Of Chess With A Vampire -
Chapter 241: Redheads?
Chapter 241: Redheads?
Olive nodded.
"Indeed. The best table that we could probably get information from should be there." He pointed at the table where a roulette was being played by a group of old, sophisticated men. Although there seemed to be two young men with them,
"Hmm, I suggest you play with the women and try to get information from them."
"Why?" Loui crumpled his brows.
Olive clarified, "It would be good for us to split up. That way, we can get some information much faster. I am good at games, and you are good with women, so we should stick to what we are very talented at, thus things will be easier. Understood?"
It was obvious Loui didn’t quite agree with him, but he couldn’t disagree that the method was the best for now. "I suppose you do have a point." He grinned and glanced around for the beautiful women who had their eyes on the men.
From the expensive clothing of every man who made their way into the casino, they could tell the worth of the man. And of course, knowing it would go this way, Olive had shopped for the finest of the finest sets of clothing.
"Hello, ladies!" Loui brought out his signature smirk.
As a vampire blessed with looks beyond those of a human, indeed, the ladies were immediately charmed by him. They couldn’t even care to access him—they were already fascinated by his looks.
One of the ladies, whose brown skin glowed with a taste of auburn as a result of the pretty chandeliers above the ceiling, smiled charmingly. "Now, don’t you look so handsome? Where are you coming from?" Her curls dangled as she walked up to him.
Loui cackled, taking her hand to politely kiss the dorsal side. "You are very beautiful, Mademoiselle."
"Oh, don’t flatter me with your words. You’re such a gentleman." The lady could not help but giggle. "Where do you come from?"
Loui shrugged. "From the moon, perhaps. Who knows?"
"The moon?" The lady drew her head back. She took a moment before she smiled. "Well, I wouldn’t doubt it right now. After all, you are handsome enough to come from the moon."
Loui gazed at her. It was obvious he was fascinated and interested in her. She was indeed his type of woman. He loved and enjoyed the way she spoke. Alas, it’s such a shame he was on a mission.
"Care to join me at the table over there?" he proposed, pointing over at an empty, well-decorated table.
The lady smiled at him, showing off her dimples. "Why not?"
Loui chuckled. "You are such a fine delicate woman. But first of all, tell me your name."
"Charlotte. My name is Charlotte," the lady responded.
Loui fluttered his eyes as they began to approach the table.
"Charlotte. What a fine name you have! Very lovely and fitting for an exquisite woman like you."
"Hahah." Charlotte laughed softly.
She asked, "And what might your name be, Monsieur?"
"Loui," Loui replied. "You can call me Loui."
Charlotte smiled at him. "The men that are called Loui are quite the troublemakers."
"Is that so?" Loui raised his brow at her, amused.
"Indeed. My little brother goes by the same name, and he is such a silly little troublemaker." Charlotte nodded her head.
Loui pulled the chair out for her. He took his seat beside her. "I must compliment your dress, it looks very beautiful on you."
"Thank you." Charlotte giggled with her hand over her mouth.
"You know, you remind me of brownies. They are my favorite desserts. I like sweet things." Loui was grinning.
Charlotte stared at him for a moment while biting her lips. She said, "You are a natural, aren’t you?"
Loui shrugged. "You could say so. Women are precious creatures. Haha." He gave a nod to one of the hosts in suits, who delivered some whiskey and glasses.
"Have a drink with me, Charlotte."
"As you wish." Charlotte smiled, accepting a glass from him.
Their conversations went on for a bit longer before Loui suddenly brought up a question. By this time, Charlotte was already drunk. It was clear that she was not exactly a heavy drinker.
"May I ask you something, Charlotte?"
"Mhm hm...go ahead." Charlotte nodded at him, resting her head on his shoulder.
Loui went ahead to query, "Do you know of a Hamilton family? Ever heard of them?"
"Hamilton?" Charlotte puckered her lips. "There are many Hamilton families, silly. I can’t possibly know all of them."
Loui patted her head, amused.
"I know. But which do you know?"
Charlotte lifted her head to glance at him. "Hmm, let me think." She gulped down another shot of whisky. "Well, I do know this one Hamilton family. They are well known."
"Oh?" Loui was deeply interested.
Charlotte confirmed, "Indeed. They own a cathedral. Quiet religious sets of individuals, if I must say."
"Cathedral? Religious?" Loui frowned.
Charlotte cackled.
"Yes. They are not from here. Although the majority look up to them, some do have their thoughts. The wife has a redhead. You know people’s thoughts about redheads, but perhaps it seems she has earned people’s trust around this town. People talk about her quite a lot these days."
"But I wouldn’t know much after all. Haha." She laughed.
"Did you...did you say, "Redhead?" Loui swallowed hard.
Charlotte blinked her eyes. "Yes. But only the woman, though. The rest are blondes like you. Hahahah."
Loui awkwardly smiled at her. No doubt, they definitely have to be Avelina’s family. But to be sure, they would need to visit and see for themselves.
"Ah...Charlotte." He exhaled cynically. "I would have loved to spend more time with you, but I must sadly take my leave now. I hope we do meet again." He stood up from his seat, smiling.
The gleam in Charlotte’s eyes disappeared, and she nodded without looking at him.
Loui reluctantly turned around and began to walk away. He hadn’t gone far before he abruptly came to a stop. He glanced at Charlotte, who was still drinking and began to hurry back to her.
