A Game Of Chess With A Vampire
Chapter 234: Cover Your Scent

Chapter 234: Cover Your Scent

Olive frowned at him.

"If finding a hotel wasn’t our priority, I guarantee you, Loui, that you would be walking around smelling like birds, and there is nothing you would be able to do about it."

"Well, good luck trying to humiliate me." Loui cackled, running his fingers through his hair.

They strolled through the town of Rennes before they were finally struck by luck. Before them was a fine-looking hotel.

"Cover your scent, Loui," Olive said. "Most of the humans can tell vampires apart from humans, especially these old ones. We cannot risk being found out."

Loui nodded, grabbing a small bottle from the pocket of his coat. It was a scent-cloaking perfume, and of course, Lucien was behind it. With just one spray, they would smell no more than a regular human.

With soft smiles on their faces, they walked into the building and approached the two clerks who stood behind their desks.

"Bonjour, Monsieur. What may I help you with?" The young lady who spoke first had a gentle, polite smile on her face. She was clad in a suit and bow that wrapped her brown hair into a fine, neat bun.

Loui responded back with a charming smile. "We like to book a room."

"Okay." The woman shifted her attention to the computer on her desk. "Hmm, my apologies, Monsieur, but we currently have only one vacant room left. Two separate—"

"Oh, do not worry about that, we are not booking separate rooms." Loui shook his head at her.

The clerk was obviously flabbergasted. "Oh..." She glanced from Loui to Olive and looked back at Loui. She adjusted her glasses and cleared her throat. "Ahem! I see you are booking just one room, right?"

"Yes." Loui nodded. He couldn’t help but glimpse Olive, not sure why the woman had just looked at them with such eyes. Was something the problem?

"How many nights?" the clerk further asked.

Loui replied, "Three nights."

"Alright...payment." The clerk glanced at Loui. "And please sign these papers."

Olive stepped forward, taking out the credit card that Draven had given him. The payment was made once they did some paper signings. The clerk gave them a key with a tag on it afterward.

"Your room has the tag 405. Please take the elevator to the fourth floor." The lady smiled at them. "Thank you for choosing our hotel. We hope you like your stay here."

Loui nodded in satisfaction, offering her a charming smile. As they walked off, he couldn’t help but say to Olive, "Humans are not so bad."

Olive shrugged. "She’s just doing her job. You don’t exactly think that is her true behavior, do you?"

"Well, you have a point." Loui shook his head.

The door of the elevator closed, and they began to move to the fourth floor.

"I’m pondering on how to do my task at the same time as this one." Olive sighed.

Loui glanced at him, his brow raised. "Why didn’t you complete it some days ago?"

"I was busy," Olive replied. "I didn’t have the time to do it."

Loui couldn’t help but cackle in disbelief. "You didn’t have the time to complete a task that Don gave to you?"

"Well, rest in peace in advance, because he will surely kill you if you return without completing that task. And if you do return, you are aware that you have just a day, at most ten hours, to finish the task, right?"

"Will you be able to do it?" he queried.

Olive was quiet. It appeared as though he were thinking. As the door of the elevator opened, he gave a nod. "I can."

They left the elevator and began to search for the room with the tag number "405" while glancing from left to right.

"402...404...403...aha! There it is!" Loui snapped his fingers and hurried towards the door. He grabbed the key card, swiped it against the card lock, and pushed the door open.

They weren’t expecting much of it, but the hotel room was indeed luxurious and cozy.

"Finally!" A wave of joy coursed through Loui, and the first thing he did was to start searching around for the shower.

Olive, on the other hand, simply looked for one of the two rooms to accommodate. It took quite some time before they fully settled in.

Loui sat on the sofa opposite Olive. He looked to be in thought. "Olive," he suddenly called.

Olive averted his gaze from his phone to look at him. "What’s wrong?"

"How do we go about this?" Loui inquired.

Olive tilted his head, confused. "How do we go about what?"

A deep breath fled Loui’s nose, and he laid back, throwing his head back to stare at the ceiling.

"Getting information on Lady Avelina. Have you forgotten that we cannot walk in the sun? These humans do not stay up at night like we do. We operate at different times."

Olive gazed at him for a few seconds before shrugging. "Not necessarily."

"Why do you mean?" Loui lifted his head to glance at him.

"Humans do not immediately go to sleep once it is evening. Have you forgotten that the majority of them like nightclubs? They do lots of activities at night, and you could say that the time at which you wouldn’t see most of them is at least when it clocks midnight," Olive explained.

Loui wrinkled his brows at him. "Where are you going with this?"

Olive turned off his phone and proceeded to clarify, "I’m trying to tell you that the day is not the only time we could be able to investigate. We can do so at least from six p.m. to ten p.m."

"And how?" Loui further inquired.

"Bars, clubs. Although I do not think a club will be a suitable place," Olive shook his head. "That place is for a whole different kind of activity. Starting with a bar, a casino, and a restaurant will do. We will surely get information from either one of these places."
