Chapter 232: Whom?

Chapter 232: Whom?

Before Ava could stand up, Draven squatted down in front of her.

"What are you reading?" he queried.

Ava blinked her eyes. "Ah...I am reading..." She was not able to complete her words for reasons unknown. Her soft gray eyes stared at Draven as he took the book from her to glimpse the back.

If he recalls correctly, he bought this exact book for Avelina. It was her current read.

He smiled in a barely perceptible way, but of course, Ava did not fail to notice. Draven gave the book back to her and straightened up. He glanced at Pierre.

"Where are Olive and Loui?" he questioned.

Pierre replied, pointing upward, "They are upstairs in their rooms."

"Call them." Draven walked over to sit down on the sofa. He crossed his legs and folded his arms.

A minute later, Olive and Loui arrived downstairs with Lucien. They slightly bowed to him before straightening up.

"Don..." Olive spoke in a barely audible tone. He had yet to carry out the last task Draven assigned to him. That cannot possibly be the reason he was there, right?

Draven lifted his eyes, glancing at the both of them.

"I have a task for the two of you," he said.

Loui slightly broadened his eyes, a bit surprised. He looked at Lucien, who gave him a look that said: I told you so.

He smiled before averting his gaze. "And what could the task be?"

"My wife," Draven replied.

Quite stunned, Loui and Olive glanced at each other, confused. "Lady Avelina?" Olive queried.

Draven gave a nod. "Yes. I want information about her background, her parents, and the rest who are related to her."

Olive furrowed his brows. "Doesn’t this mean that we...have to go into the human world?" he inquired, just to be sure.

"Indeed, you do," Draven confirmed, standing up from the sofa.

Loui proceeded to ask, "But how do we go about getting information on her? We do not know where she is from or who her family is. We do not even know where she used to live."

Draven turned to look at him.

"Indeed, you don’t, but I do know how you can possibly find her family," he said. "I asked for her name, but she was not willing to tell me, however, I did get her surname."

"She is from the Hamilton family. I do not know who these people are."

"Don, how did you... get her surname?" Olive asked.

Draven took a moment before beginning to explain, "Before I bought her at the auction, each and every one of them had a name imprinted on their tattered dresses. I saw Hamilton on hers’. It appeared quite bizarre to me, as I could tell that was a surname, and I couldn’t help but wonder why she had a surname written on her dress while the others had their maiden names written on theirs."

"I didn’t exactly pay heed to it back then, as it was not a business of mine, so I didn’t mind giving her a name. But I came to figure out that she did, in fact, have a surname written on her dress because she was not willing to spill her maiden name to the workers of the slave house."

"She was unwilling to tell me what this name was, so I heavily doubt she had even mentioned it to the slave house. If she did, there was not supposed to be a reason why she would have her surname written on her dress," he clarified.

Olive barely nodded his head in understanding. "Is this enough to help us find her family?"

"No." Draven shook his head. "I am not a hundred percent sure, but I think her family resides in Reness."

"She is indeed from Scotland, but from what she has told me, they definitely moved from Scotland to Rennes. I picked the town of Rennes because it is the closest to the barrier that separates our town of Orgères from other towns here in France."

He continued, "She managed to run from someone and accidentally crossed the barrier. If she wasn’t living in Rennes, then she would have at least needed a taxi or so to make it to this barrier. She never would have made it on foot with no plans or anything."

Loui nodded. "So what do we do?"

"Visit the town of Rennes, search for the family of Hamilton," Draven responded. "Her photo was fortunately taken during our marriage ceremony, and I had Santino print it out a few hours ago. Here you go." He handed it over to Loui. "This will make things easier for the both of you. You have three days to complete this task, so do not waste more time than needed."

A soft breath fled his nose, and he looked at Olive. "Olive, there is a man that I need you and Loui to find."

"Whom?" Olive queried.

"I do not know who this man is, but he was a man whom Avelina was to be married off to. If you are able to find him, give me every piece of information on him, no matter how tiny it is."

Olive nodded. "Understood!"

Draven turned around to leave but came to a halt. "Oh..." He glanced at them. "Under no circumstances should you bite any human! I am not sending you on a hunt, nor am I sending you to prey on humans. I do understand that the pressure of having so many humans surrounding you is unbearable, but please have some decorum and control your desires. Keep away from letting your inclinations blind you."

"You all have a supply of blood here with you. Take as much as needed and keep yourselves healthy and safe." He softly exhaled. "Olive, I’m aware that you have not done the task I gave you the last time I was here. Figure out how to do it on time or else." He peered at him with emotionless eyes, not bothering to elaborate any further.

Olive frantically blinked his eyes and gulped in fear.

"Yes, Don!"
