Chapter 230: Why Is This...Incomplete?
Chapter 230: Why Is This...Incomplete?
The latter shook her head.
"I’m not sure, but I think it is his new wife. I was there at the wedding ceremony."
"Oh..." The customer was quite surprised. "How did you even get into the ceremony?"
"You idiot, my father is a rich nobleman. Of course, he took me with him." The latter clicked her tongue, annoyed.
The customer covered her mouth in realization. "Ah...my apologies."
"Although, why does she smell like a human?" she inquired before her eyes suddenly broadened. "Oh, mon dieu! She cannot possibly be a—"
"Yes, she is," the latter interrupted her, nodding in confirmation.
"So the rumors were true?" The customer appeared heavily stunned. "Unbelievable! I never thought a royalty would stoop so low to marry a human girl. That’s quite disgraceful."
The latter nodded in agreement. "Indeed. But...that human girl isn’t really as fragile as she seems. She was actually able to fight off the First Lady of the Royal Family in a duel. She won the king’s approval, so maybe she’s not so bad."
"Still! Tsk." The customer clicked her tongue. "She’s a human regardless. We don’t like humans—no vampire does, so it’s disgraceful in my opinion."
"Say that to the third prince’s face and off with your head!" The latter cackled. "He took a knife for her at the ceremony, so be careful and sew your lips, otherwise, your life will be taken. Do not forget that, whether nobles or not, we are not royalties. To them, status below them does not matter, even one bit in their eyes. They will get rid of you in the same way they will a commoner."
The customer had a frown emerge on her face. "Well, she’s quite small."
"Indeed." The latter gave a nod, concurring with her. "She’s petite."
"And you are telling me that she is not as fragile as she seems?" The customer obviously had doubts.
"If I recall correctly, the first daughter-in-law of the royal family is pretty tall and not at all petite, so I cannot really understand how that human girl could have possibly won."
The latter could not help but chuckle.
"I guarantee you that she’s not fragile at all. Do not judge someone by just their outer appearance. That human girl may be smaller in comparison to Lady Natasha, but she’s not weak. From what I saw, I would say she’s fast, quick-witted, and quite good with knives. To be precise, she looks much bigger than the last time I recall. She was pretty thin at the ceremony."
She rolled her eyes. "Honestly, you wouldn’t need me to explain these to you if you had just come to the ceremony." She straightened up as soon as Draven was out of their sight.
....
Draven stepped out of the elevator the second the doors opened. He adjusted Avelina, who was still resting in his embrace and began to approach a certain private section.
In front of him was a young woman clad in a black suit and heels. Her green eyes sparkled as she led the way, not failing to have a polite smile on her face.
None had spent half of what Draven had spent in their company, so he was a special customer. This earned him a private section where he didn’t need to shop with the rest of the regular customers, if so he wished not to.
The glass door automatically opened, and the woman entered first. She stood by the side, gesturing Draven in.
Draven took a step in and strolled over to the sofa.
"Avelina," he whispered, raising Avelina’s head to wake her up.
Avelina grumbled under her breath before slowly blinking her eyes open.
Why was she suddenly so sleepy? Draven wondered before putting her down on her feet.
"Have we arrived?" Avelina inquired, turning around to glance at the young woman who was in the room with them. Beside her was another older lady, clad in a suit as well.
"Good evening, my lady," both women greeted, their smiles soft.
Avelina responded, "Good evening."
"If you do not mind, please come this way with me," the young woman said to her.
Avelina glanced at Draven, a bit confused. Was she to go with her? The look in her eyes asked the questions, and Draven nodded, urging her to go with the young woman.
Avelina nodded and followed behind the young woman. As soon as they were out of sight, Draven turned to the older woman.
"Can I see the jewelry?"
The woman gave a nod. "Please come this way with me, Your Highness."
Draven stuffed his arms into the pocket of his coat and followed after the woman. Upon arrival at the VIP jewelry section, the woman politely opened the door for Draven before he could do so himself.
Draven stepped in and came to a halt. The section was a luxurious, atmospheric space filled with sparkling sets of fine, dissimilar jewelry nestled on glass shelves that seemed to stretch endlessly into the distance.
Draven strolled silently through the aisles, his eyes glimpsing each and every elegant display of golden necklaces and bracelets, watches, and so on.
He walked for a few minutes more, and right when he felt he wasn’t finding what he was looking for, he came to a stop at a certain aisle. His eyes examined the jewelry on the glass shelf, and he slightly bent to get a closer look. Instinctively, he adjusted his glasses.
"Are any of them to your liking, Your Highness?" the woman who was following closely behind him asked.
Draven did not respond but tapped on the glass protector, pointing at one of the boxes on display.
The woman hurried over and took out the box. She placed it on the protector, and Draven extended his hand to touch the golden necklace.
Its pendant had the shape of sunshine, but one thing he could not seem to understand was why its form was incomplete. Half of it had spikes of sunshine, while the other half did not have any of it. Could it just be a silly design?
He glanced at the lady. "Why is this... incomplete?"
