Chapter 216: I Want To Taste Your Lips

"Draven..." Avelina looked at him. Why was he standing still and gazing at her as though he hadn’t seen her in such a long time?

Draven exhaled softly, his eyes sparkling as if admiring her.

Avelina flickered her lashes and slowly stood up from the bed. She proceeded to walk towards him, but Draven appeared before her in the blink of an eye. He grabbed hold of her, pulling her into his arms.

Avelina was startled by this. She could smell alcohol from him. Was he drunk?

"D-Draven, what’s wro—" Her eyes dilated instantly, and she felt goosebumps rise all over her skin the second she felt him bury his face in her neck, his cold breath fanning against her skin.

"I...I’ve missed you, Avelina. Very much, all of a sudden, but I do not understand why," Draven mumbled.

Avelina’s heart skipped a beat.

"Am I tipsy?" Draven deeply exhaled, tightening his hold on her. He was hugging her in a way that seemed as though he sought comfort. This was also the first time that he had taken the initiative to hug her first. He had never done so before unless Avelina did.

He shut his eyes, inhaling her scent. "Would you be able to understand how...lonely I have felt all my life?"

Avelina flickered her eyes, unable to wrap her head around what was going on at that moment.

"I don’t understand, Avelina." Draven shook his head. "I never understood that I was this lonely, or perhaps I just never knew I was because that is how I’ve always been. But then...you came, and I suddenly felt different. I think I know what it is like to have someone with you."

He smiled against her shoulder. "I don’t feel alone anymore. You make my day brighter, I think. I like your smile—it reminds me of sunshine."

"Yes." He frantically nodded his head. "It is sunshine. That is what it is."

Draven slowly ran his fingers through her ginger curls, tangling his fingers in them. "I wonder how life will be when you leave. Would I go back to being the same? I cannot tell if I am any different now though, but I do know I feel a bit dissimilar to how I used to feel. Would you stay with me? Would you come to see me after you leave? Maybe once in a while? I do not mind, so long as I get to see your smile. Haha."

He pulled back from the hug, his eyes staring at the floor. "What am I saying? I don’t know. Is this how I really feel?" He seemed to be in a drunken state.

Avelina peered at him. She was in an absolute daze, trying to understand what was happening. Was he not himself at that moment?

She was aware that alcohol was one thing most vampires could not take. Even though they were stronger, humans could hold more alcohol compared to them. So, did he mean everything he was saying to her, or was it just words spoken in a drunken situation?

Does he even know what he was saying at that moment? Could he even hear himself? Was he conscious enough to know what he was saying? Would he forget all these things he just said to her by the morning?

Draven’s sudden soft chuckle broke her out of her drifting thoughts. She batted her lashes, unmoving.

"Do you know..." He raised his head, cupping her cheeks in his palms. He stared into her hazel eyes. "...Do you know of the many things I suddenly wish to do to you?" His voice and accent were exotic to her ears.

"Ye!" Avelina’s heart dropped to her stomach, but not in a terrified way. It was the other way around.

Draven grazed her plump lip with his thumb and pulled her in, inhaling the smell of her hair.

"I want to indulge in your scent," he whispered into her ears, his voice as gentle as the cold night breeze. "I want to hold you, to hug you, to listen to your heartbeat, to have your small frame in my arms and..." he paused, taking a moment to breathe. "...To feel your warmth, Avelina." He breathed softly against her collarbone.

Avelina was too stunned to speak. She had forgotten how to breathe at that moment, and all she could seem to do was stand, holding her breath. Her face was flushed as red as a tomato, and her ears were tinted a light pinkish color.

She was heavily flustered.

Her pretty hazel orbs were twitching, glinting softly as though she were suddenly in a field of dandelions.

"Draven..."

She was pushed down against the bed, with Draven hovering above her. He was gazing at her face, as though retaining the beauty of her in his memories. He watched her like one would calmly adore the ocean.

"I feel like I’m having a dream. Am I?" Draven slightly smiled at her, ignoring his glasses that could possibly slip off the bridge of his nose. "You are very lovely, Ava, really." His fingers ran through her hair.

"Ava...?" Avelina blinked. She had never heard him call her such before. It was clearly short for the name he gave her, but this was the first time he’d ever called her that.

Draven nodded his head, cupping her cheek in his right palm and grazing her lips with his thumb in the process. "I want to...I want to taste your lips. They look so pretty and feel so...soft at my touch."

Avelina took such rapid breaths that she had to grip the bed sheet. She gazed at him, dormant and unable to move. What was this exciting feeling she was experiencing? The sudden butterflies firing up in her lower belly?

She should not want this, right? But why was she still waiting for him to taste her lips? Has she always wanted him to do so, or perhaps it was the other way around? Was she the one who had been wanting to have a proper taste of his lips?

Avelina bit her lower lip, tightening her grip on the sheet. Draven, whose crimson eyes were on her, touched her lip, freeing it from her biting teeth.
