Chapter 212: Sweet?

Mr. Guache responded, saying,

[You are royalty, so I’ll sell it for eight thousand euros]

"I see." Ryan nodded. "And what if it doesn’t work?"

[I’ll take full responsibility]

"Okay." Ryan shrugged. "The money will be sent to you."

[Merci, Your Highness]

Ryan hung up the call and shoved the phone into the pocket of his coat. He stood up from his seat and left the office with the elixir.

His destination was Natasha’s room.

A knock came at the door.

"Young master," Santino’s voice sounded.

Draven, seated opposite Avelina, who was reading at the table, glanced at the door.

"Come in," he permitted.

Santino opened the door and stepped inside. He approached Draven and bowed to him as well as to Avelina.

"Young master."

"What did you find out?" Draven asked.

Santino responded, reporting, "Young master Ryan has bought the elixir."

"He is currently on his way to Lady Natasha’s room."

"Oh..." A smirk slowly made its way to Draven’s face.

Avelina glanced at him and then at Santino.

"You may leave." Draven dismissed Santino.

Santino bowed to him yet again before turning around and exiting the room. The second he shut the door, Draven stood up from his seat.

While he advanced towards the table, Avelina quietly watched him. She stared as he opened the drawer and pulled out a pocket watch.

"Draven?" Avelina tilted her head. "What is that for?" she queried.

Draven sat down and crossed his legs. "This..." he said, opening the stopwatch. "...This is for monitoring."

"Huh? I don’t understand." Avelina shook her head.

Draven rolled the button at the side of the watch, slowly setting it. "I give them forty minutes, and the real deal will begin."

"What do you mean by "the real deal?" Avelina probed.

Draven started the stopwatch and looked at her with a barely perceptible smile on his face.

"Avelina, once she takes that poison, it will indeed cure her rashes after forty minutes. But...do you know what happens afterward?" he inquired.

Avelina shook her head, genuinely clueless.

"The poison will begin to digest into her body," Draven began to explain. "It will take approximately five days for the poison to digest completely, and once it does," He snapped his fingers. "She...dies."

"Oh..." Avelina flickered her eyes.

Draven nodded at her. "What happens on the fifth day?"

"I...don’t know." Avelina had no idea, so she was darting her eyes around, wondering.

"It’s my father’s birthday," Draven clarified.

Avelina was obviously shocked. She lifted her hand, covering her mouth. "Oh my...god..."

"Yes." Draven smiled. "He once tried to use her to kill you, so...on his birthday, this will be a nice birthday gift."

His tone had a tinge of excitement that Avelina had never felt from him before. But she cannot blame him either. They deserved worse for what they did to him.

Avelina half-smiled and proceeded to stretch her body. "Will you lay with me, Draven?"

"Sure." Draven nodded and stood up from the chair, following her to the bed.

——

Ryan placed a light knock on the door of Natasha’s room.

Natasha, whose head was bent on the table, mumbled, "Come in."

Ryan pushed open the door and stepped inside. He walked over to her and sat down on the table beside her.

"Natasha."

But Natasha did not respond. She did not want to look at him, as the rashes on her face had gotten worse by the hour.

Ryan exhaled. "I got you an elixir. It will cure the rashes, so lift your head and look at me."

"Are you sure it will cure it?" Natasha asked.

"Yes." Ryan nodded. "So please, raise your head."

Gradually but reluctantly, Natasha lifted her head and stared at him. Ryan smiled at her, reaching his hand over to tuck her hair behind her ears.

"Here you go." He gave the bottle to her.

Natasha examined the bottle and glanced at him. "What is this?"

"An elixir. It’s very little, so you just have to drink all of it, and you will be just fine as soon as possible." Ryan was gently smiling at her.

Natasha gazed at the bottle for a few seconds before opening the cap. She brought it a bit closer to her nose and sniffed it.

"Oh, it smells nice."

"Does it?" Ryan inquired.

"Mhm, it does." Natasha nodded and drank the whole bottle. She swallowed and flickered her eyes as she savored the taste.

"It tastes quite sweet too," she added.

"Sweet?" Ryan frowned. What sort of medicine would taste sweet?

Natasha’s lips were curling up into a soft smile. "Is this really an elixir, Ryan?" she queried, skeptical.

Ryan slowly gave a nod. "It is. Mr. Guache sold it to me."

"It tastes really nice." Natasha chuckled, putting the bottle down on the table.

Ryan took a deep breath.

"I know it will not work immediately, but we will wait till tomorrow and see how it does. Stay patient," he said.

"Okay..." Natasha beamed at him, seeming optimistic.

Draven was awake.

Avelina’s head rested on his muscled belly, and her arms were wrapped around his waist. This was not the way she had slept.

In fact, she had only changed to this position while deeply asleep, and Draven, who was still gazing at her, was not sure what to do.

He flickered his eyes. "Avelina..." he called her, but in a hushed tone.

Should he get off, or should he let her stay that way? Draven contemplated it seriously but eventually came to a decision.

It was quite uncomfortable the way she laid on him, so he moved, trying to get off, but surprisingly to him, Avelina tightened her grip on him, as though holding onto a pillow. She pulled him even harder, grumbling in her sleep, and moving even closer to adjust comfortably to him.

"Oh..." Draven’s mouth was slightly agape. He was not even sure of what to say or do anymore. It was obvious she was not willing to let him go.
