A Game Of Chess With A Vampire -
Chapter 203: I Knew!
Chapter 203: I Knew!
A deep breath fled Prince’s nose, and his hand ghosted over the gleaming brass handle. The door slightly creaked open soundlessly, revealing a spacious room bustling with activities.
Chefs moved in orchestrated harmony, their knives slicing through ingredients with precision. The intoxicating aroma of culinary delights filled the air, creating an enticing atmosphere amidst Prince’s nefarious intent.
Prince scanned the room, his unseen gaze fixated on a particularly expensive-looking dish placed promptly on the central counter.
"Please take this to the first lady," one of the maids instructed another. "Catrina and the others will serve His Highness and the little prince."
"Yes, miss." The latter nodded, proceeding off to take the mini-table of meals from the counter.
Prince’s eyes widened. This was his only chance to carry out his task. Without thinking twice, he kicked off one of the racks that held onto the culinaries, letting it fall to the floor.
This grabbed the maids’ attention, and they looked away towards the fallen rack. Taking this opportunity, Prince quickly opened one of the plates and poured the poison onto the roasted vegetables, each droplet merging seamlessly with the dish. He managed to do the same for three other meals on the mini table before the maids returned to their business.
He secretly exhaled in relief and stepped away to back off, but unknowingly, he stepped on one of the huge cooking pots on the floor, causing a clunking sound to resound within the kitchen.
This caught the attention of the maids, and they turned in his direction. Without even thinking, Prince rushed out of the kitchen and began to exit the mansion. Due to the fact that the maids could not sense his presence, they could not tell what was going on.
However, unfortunately for Prince, he ended up bumping into someone during his escape. He lifted his eyes, only to glimpse a tall, bulky young man. This man was none other than Lancelot, Ryan’s butler.
"Merde!" he cursed under his breath.
This man’s energy was high, and he did not need to be told to know that he could sense him. Without a second thought, Prince proceeded to run for it, but Lancelot gripped his hand despite not being able to see him.
"Who are you?" Lancelot questioned.
Prince’s eyes widened, and he yanked his hand to break free from him.
"Intruder!" Lancelot shouted. "Close the gates of the mansion!" he clamored with his deep voice to make sure that everyone could hear him.
THUMP! THUMP!
The sounds of the royal guards footsteps sounded, and it was at that moment that Prince knew he had fucked up!
"Merde! Merde!" he cursed over and over again in anger before angrily lifting his leg and kicking Lancelot mercilessly in the face.
Lancelot may be able to sense his presence, but surely he cannot sense his attack. And indeed, he could not! Prince was too fast.
This impact caused Lancelot to stagger back, giving Prince an opportunity to break free from him.
Prince dashed off and began to run. Left for him and this man, he could defeat him, but it was dangerous. This was the royal mansion, and fighting this man would only delay his escape, so his only option at that moment was to run!
.....
INTRUDER!
At the sound of this word, Avelina’s heart skipped a bit, and she turned her head.
"Draven, what’s going on?" Her voice was trembling, hinting at her apprehension.
Draven deeply frowned. He stood up from his chair and stared intently at the paveway that leads to the pavilion.
He could sense Prince, and he could also tell that he was rushing that way. What exactly had happened? Who did he meet? Why the alarm?
Draven was worried. He waited and waited and, unable to take it anymore, he moved to go find Prince, but that was not necessary as Prince successfully made it to the pavilion.
Prince ran straight to him.
Draven grabbed him, deep relief washing over him.
"Don, je dois y aller!" Prince said, in a hurry to leave. His voice was quivering, making it clear that he needed to leave immediately.
"Okay." Draven nodded at him. "You should go. I will call you when you arrive home."
Prince hurried off, moving through the gate and successfully escaping.
The minute he was gone, Avelina took a deep breath and began to beat her chest. "Gosh, I was so worried. I’m so glad he made it out." She threw her head back with a smile on her lips.
Draven nodded, agreeing with her.
"I knew he could do it. But that’s a narrow escape."
"I cannot imagine what would have happened if he got caught." Avelina took her seat opposite Draven.
Draven folded his arms while crossing his legs. "If he got caught, I would have saved him no matter what it cost me. I cannot let any of them die or get hurt for me."

Prince, who had made it back home, breathed heavily as he stared at the tall mansion that stood before him.
He was breathing heavily, as though he had run a thousand miles. Slowly, he walked into the mansion and strolled to the living room to meet everyone who was seated together at the table with an apprehensive look on their faces.
Ava was biting her nails nonstop. She was the most worried out of all of them, as she could not stand the thought of her brother getting into trouble.
"Ava." Prince’s voice sounded. There was a hint of relief in it, as though he had been wanting to see her.
Ava immediately lifted her head. "Frère!" She quickly got up from her seat and rushed towards him, pulling him into a warm hug. "I was so...I was so worried. I thought something had gone wrong." Tiny bubbles of tears had begun to stream down her face.
"C’est bon, Ava." Prince began to stroke her hair. He was smiling in a way that anyone rarely sees him do.
The others stared at them with a look of relief on their faces.
