Chapter 175: Just Let Me Hold You

Chapter 175: Just Let Me Hold You

They soon arrived at their destination, and Olive slowed down in front of the rusted iron gate.

"This place is... terrible," Lucien commented.

The sky was pitch black, and there was neither a moon nor the stars. Little drops of rain were falling as well, leaving the ground quite muddy.

Olive got off the bike and walked towards the gate. He pulled on it, only to realize that it was heavily locked with chains.

He glanced at Lucien. "The gate is chained."

"How do we get in then?" Lucien asked.

Olive took a deep breath.

"Come over here," he said to her.

Lucine strolled over to him. To her shock, Olive stripped off his coat and undershirt. He lifted his head, only to meet Lucien’s confused and shocked gaze.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" he questioned.

"Why are you stripping?" Lucien threw a question back at him.

Olive halted what he was doing and exhaled to calm his nerves.

"Are you just dumb or what?"

"What?" Lucien scowled. "What do you mean by that?"

"Lucien, this is not the first time that you have seen me without a shirt on. Get over it and stop acting shocked. Secondly, what do you expect?" Olive asked, annoyed.

He pointed to the gate. "I just told you like a minute ago that this gate is chained, meaning that I will have to fly over to get into the compound. Now, isn’t it obvious why I took my coat and shirt off?"

"I do not have the desire to ruin brand new clothing nor do I have the urge to strip for you! Mon dieu!" He glared at her.

"Oh..." Lucien fluttered her eyes and chuckled softly in embarrassment. "My apologies."

Olive shook his head in disbelief and handed his clothing over to her. "Hold onto it."

Then he went ahead to grab her by the waist.

"Tighten your hold on me. I will not catch you if you fall."

Without hesitation, Lucien immediately grabbed a hold of him and wrapped her arms around his waist. Unlike Loui, who was always very careful and caring towards her, Olive was the complete opposite.

She knew that he meant it when he said that he would not catch her if she slipped off.

Olive slowly unfurled his dark pair of wings. With one powerful flap, he flew up and repeated the same movement till they flew over the gate.

He flew directly towards the entrance of the enormous and dark-colored mansion and stopped.

He landed on his feet and let go of Lucien. He reached out his hand for his clothing, but Lucien’s attention was fixated on the iron double door before them.

"Lucien," Olive called.

Lucien looked at him, confused. "Huh? What?"

"My clothes!" Olive’s expression was one of irritation.

Realizing that she was still holding onto his clothes, Lucien quickly gave them to him.

"I’m sorry," she apologized.

Olive did not respond. He put on his shirt and coat, then examined the double door. He reached to grab the handle, but Lucien stopped him.

"Olive, don’t you think it would be safer to go through the back?" she asked. "It’s too quiet for my liking. Better safe than sorry."

Olive took a deep breath and walked past her to make his way to the back. Lucien followed closely behind him.

She was a bit of a creature of the night like the vampires, but still, things this creepy and eerie do make her quite uncomfortable and restless.

Olive, who noticed her grabbing onto the back of his coat, halted. He glanced at her.

"Are you...scared?"

"Huh?" Lucien vigorously flickered her eyes. Scared? Yes, she was. Uncomfortable would actually be more fitting. But surely she cannot admit that to Olive! That would be so embarrassing.

"N-no! Of course not! How could I be scared?"

Olive raised his brow at her. He could immediately tell that she was lying. One thing he knew for sure was that when Lucien lies, she begins to scratch her neck.

"Can you please stop grabbing my clothing? Since you are not afraid, I do not see a reason why you should be doing this." He turned around and began to storm off.

Lucien bit her lower lip.

What a cold-hearted man you are! Even if I am not admitting it to you, can’t you tell that I am indeed afraid? Must you force me to admit it and embarrass me?

The urge to strangle Olive overwhelmed her, but she suppressed it and hurried off to move next to him.

Upon arriving at the back of the old mansion, Olive came to a stop. Unlike the double door, what was at the back was a moderate-looking wooden door.

Olive grabbed the handle, breaking it off since it was locked. He pushed the door, and as it opened, it made a spooky, unpleasant echoing sound.

This caused the hairs on Lucien’s skin to rise, and subconsciously, she moved closer to Olive and gripped his arm.

Olive glowered.

"What do you think you are doing?

"Just let me hold you, okay?" Lucien’s face was scrunched.

Olive’s frown deepened. "Hey! Take your hands off—"

"I’m scared, Olive. I am scared, okay! Please don’t make it any more embarrassing than it already is!" Lucien lowered her head as she voiced out, unable to look him in the eyes.

Olive stared at her and let out a soft breath. "Whatever!" He grabbed her hand and walked into the mansion.

Lucien, who was surprised by his sudden action, flickered her eyes. Her face lit up in a blush, and she quickly looked away, seeming embarrassed.

This was the first ever gentle initiative Olive took towards her after years of knowing him. He had always avoided her at every opportunity, and even though she may act tough, it has always hurt.

There was no one who would be okay with being disliked by someone that they were meant to be friends with for no reason at all.

Olive came to a halt.

"This is too quiet for my liking. Something is not right." He began to proceed towards the stairs while pulling Lucien along with
