A Game Of Chess With A Vampire
Chapter 174: That Is Not Possible!

Chapter 174: That Is Not Possible!

Draven glanced at her.

"To shower. I have sweat too much and I do not like the feeling." He shook his head. "I like to change into new clothes as well."

Avelina stepped in front of him and started to walk backward. "What about me?"

"I have informed the maids, so they will—"

"AH!!" Avelina, who was distracted by his words, plopped over a rock, and as she was falling, she instinctively grabbed Draven’s hand.

Draven, who appeared inattentive enough to even see it beforehand, lost his balance and fell along with her. In order not to hurt her, he managed to press his hands against the ground, leaving him looming above her.

Avelina, who had hit her head on the floor, rolled her eyes in pain.

"Are you okay?" Draven inquired, deeply concerned.

"Ouch...that hurts." Avelina hissed in pain.

Draven examined her head and pulled her hand, lifting her to her feet. He caressed the part of her head that hurt, deep apprehension glistening in his soft eyes.

He asked, "Does it hurt too much?"

Avelina shook her head. "Not exactly. It just felt like I had a concussion right there."

"You’re quite clumsy. You should be more careful, alright?" Draven patted her head and gripped her wrist to walk her into the mansion.

——

Olive hurried down the stairs to make his way to the last floor of the mansion.

He was dialing Draven’s number and waiting for him to pick up. After a few more trials, the phone was finally answered.

"Don."

[Is there a problem, Olive?]

"It is not exactly a problem, but an ancient vampire is currently residing at the deserted mansion close to the tower," Olive reported.

[Oh. Are you leaving yet?]

Olive responded, "Yes. Can I take Ava with me? I am not sure it would be a good idea to go alone."

[Yes, but wouldn’t it be better to go with Lucien? Ava isn’t much of a fighter]

Olive’s expression immediately fell, and he scowled.

"I’ll manage, Don."

[If you say so. Just do not die, alright? Be careful]

"Yes, Don." Olive hung up the call and turned around to see Lucien standing behind him.

He proceeded to walk past her, but Lucien gripped his hand, stopping him.

"Okay, what the hell is your problem?"

Olive halted. His face contorted in a very ugly manner, and he turned around to look at Lucien.

"What do you want?"

Lucien folded her arms. "Olive, Don just suggested taking me along with you. I heard it, but you flat out said no and that you would rather take Ava with you even though you know she isn’t very skilled in combat."

"So? It’s none of your business. I take whoever I want." Olive glared at her and turned around to leave.

"Why do you even hate me? I have never done anything wrong to you! You have been like this since the first moment we met each other. I got along with everyone except you!" Lucien stood gazing at him. She was beyond confused.

Olive took a deep breath and looked at her. He smiled in annoyance and said, "I do not hate you, Lucien. But I dislike you!"

"Why? What did I do to you? What have I done to make you dislike me this much?" Lucien questioned. "Is it because I’m a werewolf? Is that a sin? I know that my kind and vampires do not get along, but if Don and everyone else were willing to let me in, why can’t you? What is the problem?"

"I despise your kind," Olive responded.

Lucien balled her fists, a frown apparent on her face. "Why? What did my kind do to you?"

"You—" Olive restrained himself from saying anything. He took a long, deep breath and turned around. "Don’t bother me, Lucien."

He began to walk away.

Lucien, who was unwilling, hurried after him. "I don’t really care. If you’re not going to tell me what the problem is, then I have no reason to care. But one thing is for sure! I’m coming with you. Ava cannot give you the help that I can."

Olive ignored her and approached Ava, who seemed to be invested in a book she was reading.

"Ava."

Ava raised her head and looked at him. "Hm? Is there a problem?"

"I need to get hold of an ancient vampire for Don, so I want you to come with me," Olive clarified.

Ava blinked her eyes. She let out a soft breath and smiled awkwardly.

"I really wish I could go with you, Olive, but I am afraid I can’t. You know that I suck at fighting, and I could possibly die. Also, I’m very busy with this." She slapped the back of the book.

Olive pinched between his brows and exhaled deeply.

Lucien arched his brow at him. "Shall we move?"

Helpless at this point, as he knew that Pierre, Prince, and Loui had their hands full, Olive finally agreed.

He began to exit the mansion, and Lucien followed after him. They approached his bike, and with a scowl on his face, he threw his helmet at Lucien.

Lucien caught hold of it and frowned at him.

"You should really put a nice expression on your face while we do this. You can’t get rid of me, so get used to me," she voiced in a vexed manner.

Olive gazed at her for a few seconds. "You know, I suddenly wish to go alone."

"No. We are going together!" Lucien shook her head. "Don’t ruin things for Don just because of your personal issues."

She wore the helmet and moved next to him.

Olive let out an annoyed breath and sat down on the bike. Lucien sat down as well and wrapped her arms around his waist.

As much as he disliked it, Olive could not do anything but simply start the engine and ride off onto the road.

"What grade is the ancient vampire?" Lucien inquired.

Olive responded, "I’m not sure. But I do not think it’s much."

"Do you think it could possibly be an S grade?" Lucien further queried.

Olive arched his eyebrow.

"That is not possible. Finding an S-graded ancient vampire is like trying to dig the earth with your bare hands. It’s already hard to find an A grade. Pfft, we have only been lucky so far with mediums, so no."

"Hmmm..." Lucien was still a bit skeptical, but knowing that he was probably right, she nodded, agreeing with him.
