Chapter 163: Keep Quiet!

Chapter 163: Keep Quiet!

Avelina took a deep breath.

"I will not mess up your things anymore,"

"It’s okay." Draven looked at her. "You can do whatever you like, I don’t mind. You do not have to switch and try to be this weirdly organized because of me. I will just rearrange it to my liking. It is not a big deal."

He ruffled Avelina’s hair and tucked a few strands behind her ear.

Avelina flickered her eyes, not sure what to say.

Draven straightened up and extended his hand out for her. "Let’s go. You must be hungry."

Avelina nodded. She grabbed his hand to stand up to her feet, but in a swift movement, Draven swooped her into his arms in bridal style.

Having not expected that Avelina let out a startled gasp. She looked at him. "Draven, what are you doing?"

"Can you walk?" Draven seemed genuinely confused.

Now realizing why he did that, Avelina lowered her head, secretly smiling at herself. She circled her arms around his neck to balance herself, and Draven exited the room.

They left the mansion for the general pavilion, where everyone, including Valentine, was already seated.

At the immediate notice of Draven, who was approaching with Avelina in his arms, Natasha’s eyes widened.

Her body trembled, and she began to adjust in her seat, uncomfortable. Ryan, on the other hand, gazed intently at Draven, but Draven did not spare him a glance.

He walked over to his seat and sat Avelina down beside him. He glanced at Natasha, and the second their eyes met, Natasha jolted, causing Ryan to look at her.

"What’s wrong?" Ryan asked.

Natasha quickly shook her head. "N-nothing."

"Are you sure?" Old Master Lenort questioned her.

Natasha nodded at him. "Yes, father. I’m alright."

"Okay." Old Master Lenort glanced at Avelina. "I heard you were sick. You must be better now." He held no expression.

Avelina awkwardly nodded. She peeked at Natasha, and the second Natasha met her gaze, her eyes narrowed in what one would call subconscious fear.

Able to glimpse it in her pupils, Avelina secretly smiled at her, making sure she saw it and knew that it was for her. She needed her to know that she was aware of what she had done and that she was responsible.

Natasha’s grip on the fork tightened, and she took deep breaths, not wanting to raise any suspicion.

Aurora, who noticed her nervousness, shook her head.

The entire atmosphere was silent. Ryan kept glancing at Draven. He wanted to know if he knew. He was trying to trespass as well and hear his thoughts, but that was impossible.

The worst part of it all was that his ability was useless against Avelina. Abilities such as his do not work on humans. They were only effective against non-humans.

In frustration, he slammed his spoon on the table. Old Master Lenort glanced at him.

"What is the problem?" he questioned.

Ryan, realizing what he had done, immediately shook his head. "My apologies, father."

Old master frowned. "Be mindful of yourself."

"Bone appetite," he said.

They all began to eat. Valentine, on the other hand, bent his head, trying so hard not to burst into laughter.

This was too good, and he was loving every moment of it. Amongst everyone who had a gloomy expression on their faces due to the dingy atmosphere, that is, exempting Avelina and Draven, only Valentine appeared to have a smile on his face.

He was entertained for reasons no one could tell.

Old master wrinkled his brow, confused. "Why are you so amused?"

Valentine glanced at him. "Amused?"

"Of course, I am not." He shook his head. "I am rather happy to be here having breakfast with all of you. Also, I am quite relieved that my sister-in-law is..." He peeked at Natasha with a smile. "...alright now."

Natasha deeply frowned. Of course, she had caught on to his secretive glances at her. What was going on? Why was he peeking at her every now and then? And why was he smirking?

Wait, could he possibly know? Her eyes widened as she thought. Not wanting to go that far in her thoughts, she quickly shook her head.

Impossible! She exclaimed inwardly. There was no way Valentine could possibly know. Only Ryan was aware, and she was very sure of that.

Old Master Lenort could tell that something was wrong. Each breakfast was usually quiet and went normally, but today, something was fishy.

They were all behaving differently, and he knew that something was off. Something was definitely wrong, of which he is aware that some of them must possibly know.

The behavior that threw him off the most was Valentine’s action. Whenever he smirked in such a way or smiled with no context at all, something was wrong.

Wanting to find out, Old Master Lenort asked, "Anyone care to tell me what is going on?" He glanced at each of them.

They all looked at him at the same time and also averted their gazes at the same time.

Old Master Lenort scowled at this. "Are you all deaf?"

They did not respond. Lumian, Lestat, and his wife Lilianna had a rather confused expression visible on their faces. It appeared that Draven, Avelina, Ryan, Natasha, Aurora, and Valentine were the only ones aware of what was going on.

Angered by their silence, Old Master Lenort slammed his hands on the table, startling them.

"I asked you all a question! Answer me and stop with the silence!" he yelled at them.

Lestat flickered his eyes. "Father, there is nothing wrong. Nothing has occ—"

"Keep quiet!" Old Master Lenort glared at him, shutting him up.

"Is that what you all think? That I am stupid? That I wouldn’t notice that something is wrong?" he questioned.

Nobody answered him.

Natasha, who had cold sweat dripping from her back, fidgeted with her hands. She looked at Ryan, who had sweat dropping from his forehead. She could tell that he was scared for her.

"I give you all five seconds to explain to me what the fuck is going on here. If nobody speaks under five seconds, nobody will leave this table, and I believe you are aware of what comes after," Old Master Lenort threatened.
