A Game Of Chess With A Vampire -
Chapter 155: Secretly?
Chapter 155: Secretly?
Valentine sneered.
"You heard me.
Ryan balled his hands. "That is impossible. She would never dare—"
"You really think that? You really are very stupid! You behave like you know your wife, yet you can’t even tell what she is capable of!" Valentine’s eyes were filled with disdain.
"Hey!" Ryan slammed his hands on the table. "Don’t you dare insult me!"
"You deserve it! Because you really are foolish. Very dumb!" Valentine taunted, quite hateful within him.
Ryan’s fist tightened, and his eyes twitched furiously. He was resisting the urge to burst Valentine’s teeth.
Able to compose himself, he sat down on the chair and folded his arms. "So what makes you come to that conclusion? Did you see her visit a witch? Hell, there is no reason for my wife to even visit one."
"Is that what you think?" Valentine questioned.
Ryan stared at him. He could not seem to answer that question.
Valentine could not help but chuckle, amused. "Ryan, do you recall that your wife still has some sort of grudge against Avelina, our brother’s wife?"
"What do you mean?" Ryan’s brows scrunched together.
"It looks like you are aware." Valentine smiled. "You also know what kind of person your wife is and the level she is willing to go to, to deal with whoever she develops a grudge against."
Ryan was starting to grasp the direction in which the conversation was going. He said, stopping Valentine, "Are you trying to tell me that my wife has been visiting a witch with the intention of hurting Avelina?"
"Bingo!" Valentine clicked his tongue.
"That is not possible!" Ryan shook his head. "I have talked to my wife, and I let her know that that human have absolutely nothing to do with the recent event that occurred. I also warned her against pulling any funny shit, and she understood that. There is no way she would go against me, at least not to do such a thing."
"She is aware that, as royal vampires, we are not friends with the witches! Not even acquaintances. It is strictly against our rules to befriend one or even have anything to do with them. I don’t even need to tell her because she knows that if she dares, our father will not blink an eye before slicing her head off. My wife is not dumb enough to do such a thing." He was cackling in disbelief.
Valentine stared at him for a few moments before bursting into laughter.
"What do you mean, she is not dumb enough to pull such a shit? You really do not know your wife, frère."
"Let me ask you something." He adjusted his seat. "If she does it secretly, who will find out? Will she be at risk?"
Ryan blinked his eyes. "Secretly?... No."
"Exactly!" Valentine smirked. "As long as no one finds out, she is both safe and has accomplished her mission, which is to kill Avelina."
"And as her husband, even if you find out, what can you do? Will you sell her out? Definitely not! She knows that, and that is why she does not give a fuck that you’re trying to find out what it is that she is doing," he explained.
Ryan was quiet. He could not seem to utter a word. Suddenly, everything made sense to him.
Now it was all coming back to him. That day she had said she was going to visit her father, it was nothing but a lie.
She and her father were not on good terms, so it was impossible that he would have summoned her, meaning that Natasha lied to him. Not only that but she was dressed extravagantly!
The witches liked royalties. They would never be willing to do anything for commoners, but for royals, yes, they would be more than willing. Even though they are aware that the royal vampires despise them, they would still be ready to help one.
And dressing that extravagantly with those royal pieces of jewelry was enough to let whichever witch she went to know that she was royalty. She didn’t need to explain herself.
Fuck! Why was it all starting to make sense now? Why didn’t he figure this out sooner?
"So now you know, your wife... is in deep trouble." Valentine had a look of sympathy.
"No, she is not!" Ryan slammed his hand on the table. "Father will never find out about this, and if he does, I will kill you!"
"Me?" Valentine drew his head back. He blinked his eyes and slowly began to laugh in amusement.
"You see, you are targeting the wrong person here. You shouldn’t be worried about Father finding out. The person whom you should be apprehensive about is our third brother, Draven! And you know he has no mercy."
"Do you think he has found out or not? That is up to you to figure out. He is the one you should be most weary about because when he deals with your wife, she will not be able to escape. Hurting Avelina was the worst mistake your wife ever committed. She doesn’t know what she has gotten herself into."
He stood up from the chair and began to walk towards the door to leave, however, before he did, he halted and spared Ryan one last glance, saying, "FIGHTING!!" As though hyping him up.
He opened the door and stepped out.
"Now we wait!" His eyes were filled with so much excitement and thrill. With a happy smile, he began to hop off to his quarter.
Ryan, whose face had reddened in anger, was glaring his nails at the table, leaving unpleasant marks. His rage was at its limit, and at that point, he had no idea what to think, what to say, or even what to do.
Lancelot, who was worried, opened the door and stepped inside.
"Young master, is everything okay?"
Ryan turned his head and looked over at him. Without saying a word, he stormed out of the room and began to proceed to Natasha’s room.
His hands were twitching and contracting in a very enraged manner. Lancelot, who was hurrying after him, could not understand what the problem was. Just what could the youngest prince have said to him to leave him this angry?
Upon arrival at Natasha’s room, Ryan came to a stop. He took a deep breath and glanced at Lancelot.
"Stay here and wait."
