Chapter 149: It Is Worth It!
Narrowly, Pierre dodged, but the arrow still managed to cut his clothing, baring his skin to the sun.
Quickly, before he could feel the pain of the burn, he covered his skin with his gloved hand and hurried off into the shed.
Draven stared at Loui and Olive.
"Should I give her an easy death or a painful one?" As he pulled the string, he asked himself in a tone, almost as though he was whispering.
No! He shook his head. "You cannot do that, Draven. She had put Avelina through pain, it would be quite merciful on your part if you did that! She has to go through misery too! She has to suffer as well before she dies!"
In fury, he let go, and the arrows rushed toward Loui. Loui was quite slow with his movement, thus, the arrow had torn through the arm of his clothing, cutting his skin a bit.
"OUCH!" He groaned a bit in pain and turned around to walk to the shed.
Prince could hear Draven’s murmurs, but he could only make out a little of his words. That little was enough for him to put the pieces together.
Draven pulled carefully to shoot the last arrows, however, as though no longer interested, he tossed it to the ground. He snatched his glasses from Lucien and began to storm off.
Olive blinked his eyes. "Oh..."
"A-are you kidding me? He...didn’t hit Olive!" Loui’s eyes were twitching.
"What a lucky bastard!" Pierre cursed.
..
Draven buttoned up his shirts as he sat down on the chair at the meeting table.
He crossed his legs and began to rub his temple, deep in thought.
Lucien, Olive, Pierre, and Loui, who had healed from their injuries, stared at him, wondering what was wrong.
"Ça a à voir avec Natasha." Prince abruptly spoke.
Lucien glanced at him. "Natasha? Why would he be pissed off about her?"
"Je ne sais pas." Prince shook his head, clueless.
Olive frowned. "Do you think it could be because of what she did to Lady Avelina?"
"Possibly." Pierre chirped in.
"Should we go and talk to him? He seems to be in a very terrible mood, and I think he is pondering about something," Ava suggested.
Loui took a deep breath.
"I have never seen Don like this before nor even seen him this angry before."
"I agree." Pierre nodded. "Are you sure we should approach him? The aura surrounding him is horrible enough, I am not sure he would like us approaching him."
Olive scratched his head and stepped forward. "Let me try first."
"Yes, you should. You are unscathed after all." Loui folded his arms. He still appeared quite salty regarding the fact that the arrows were dropped at Olive’s turn.
Olive glared at him in annoyance. He exhaled and began to advance toward Draven. The others watched, wanting to see what would happen. Hopefully, Draven does not lose his temper.
Olive stood before Draven.
"Ahem!" He cleared his throat.
But there was no response from Draven. It was as though he had no idea Olive was standing in front of him. Just what was he thinking about? He was too distracted to the point he even failed to notice that Olive and the rest were inside the meeting room.
"Don... are you okay?" Olive asked.
No response was heard from Draven. Olive frowned, starting to get worried.
"Don!" This time, his voice was louder.
As if snapping back to his senses, Draven blinked his eyes and lifted his head to look at Olive.
He arched his brow. "What is it?"
Olive took a deep breath and began to scratch his head, slightly nervous.
"We just want to know what the problem is. You have been in a terrible mood, and you seem to be letting out your anger on us. Did we do something wrong?"
Draven once again flickered his eyes, this time suddenly realizing that he had indeed been venting on them even though they were not the cause of his problem. He pinched his forehead.
"No," he replied, looking over at Lucien and the others. With a wiggle of his hand, he called them over.
"Sit," he said to them.
Each took their seat and fixed their gazes on Draven.
"Don, is something the problem?" Lucien asked. She was a bit concerned.
Draven shook his head. "Not exactly. I am rather thinking about something."
"I am wondering when I should act. It’s a bit confusing this time around."
Pierre furrowed his brows.
"What...do you mean?"
"Hmm..." Draven tilted his head. "I want to kill a pawn, which is Natasha, and I could use another pawn to do so...however, it would be an easy death."
"On the other hand, I could also use you guys to get rid of her, which will in turn make her death much more painful. But I am wondering, is it worth it to risk my knights, rooks, and bishops?"
Each of them glanced at each other. The first to speak was Olive.
"It is really up to you, Don. Whatever needs to be done, we will be re—"
"It is worth it," Ava said, interrupting him. Her expression was ugly.
Draven glanced at her.
"Why do you say so?"
Ava shrugged. "Don, you always said an eye for an eye, so it should also be the same in this case."
"I mean, Lady Avelina is in misery right now, and Lady Natasha is responsible for it. Not only that, but she has the heartless intention to murder her. Why should she be given a simple death?"
"She did not try to get rid of Lady Avelina in a simple way," she said, shaking her head. "She loved the idea of putting her through agony before killing her. It should be the same for her. Before we get rid of her, she has to suffer as well. It’s either her or Lady Avelina."
"Lady Avelina could possibly die because of her, so it’s only right she is given a taste of her own medicine." She folded her arms, scoffing. "I am sure you already thought of these things, Don, and know that I agree with you. Her death should be miserable and agonizing."
