A Game Of Chess With A Vampire -
Chapter 148: Don...
Chapter 148: Don...
Draven raised his brow at her, instantly causing her to shiver.
She cleared her throat and put on a smile before leaving the shed in heavy clothing to head towards Draven.
"Stay safe! We are all behind you." Loui cheered her on.
Pierre, Ava, and Olive glanced at him.
"What?" Loui questioned. He was frowning in perplexity.
They did not respond to him but looked away with a look of disbelief.
Lucien stood before Draven. She was smiling nonstop, to the point that she could feel the cramps slowly emerging.
"I do not understand why you are smiling, Lucien," Draven said as he took off his glasses.
The smile on Lucein’s face vanished in an instant, replaced by a serious expression.
I am smiling because I am nervous! She muttered inwardly.
Draven handed the glasses over to her.
"Break it; you regret it." He warned. His words were enough hints for one to realize that Lucien had broken his glasses before.
Lucien trembled on the spot. She took deep breaths and gently held onto the glasses.
Why does this feel like a setup? What have I done to deserve this? She looked at Draven. He knew she was very clumsy, yet he asked her to take on the responsibility of looking after these specialized, expensive glasses.
Prince glanced at her and shook his head, amused.
"Oh, my goodness..." Ava’s jaw had fallen.
Pierre hissed, resisting the urge to laugh. "Poor Lucien."
"You might be next." Olive chuckled. "Don’t forget she said the same thing about Prince, now look at her situation."
Pierre’s amused expression disappeared in an instant, and he quickly composed himself.
"Do you think that Don can possibly hear us?" he asked.
Olive shook his head. "I am not sure, but there is a possibility that he can. He’s royalty after all and has better-enhanced hearing compared to us."
"I see..." Pierre nodded.
..
Draven cracked his knuckles. He had a very ugly frown on his face. What was he thinking about? Why does he look so infuriated? Who pissed him off? No one knew.
He tightened the bars around his elbow and grabbed the bow. He received two arrows from Prince, then positioned them.
His left eye was narrowed. He pulled to shoot, but as though having changed his mind, he stopped.
"This is not enough," he muttered and glanced over at Olive, Loui, Pierre, and Ava. "All of you, come here," he ordered.
"Ye!" Ava was startled.
Draven glared at them, immediately causing them to rush toward him without any questions asked.
"Each one of you, go down..." He pointed to where the targets were situated. "...And stand there."
Loui fluttered his eyes. "M-may I ask why?" His tone was quivering, showing that he was afraid. The aura that Draven was oozing was filled with so much negativity that they could not seem to stand it.
As vampires, they could perceive the type of aura another has. To be more specific, it was similar to how humans can perceive when a fellow human is not in a good state, in a bad mood, or any other sort of emotion. The only difference is that the vampires could, however, perceive auras mixed with a variety of emotions.
Draven looked at him. "Do you really want me to give you an answer?"
"Not at all, sir." Loui shook his head. "Let’s go,’ he said to Ava, Olive, and Pierre.
Together, they all advanced to stand in front of the targets.
"Evade when I shoot; otherwise, you get hurt," Draven warned.
"This is bullying," Olive mumbled.
Pierre took a deep breath. "I cannot agree more. Curse whoever pissed him off to this extent!"
"I double curse!" Ava swallowed hard.
"Tell Prince to call the doctor later, Ava." Loui glanced at her. "We are going to need him."
Lucien, who was watching them, giggled, unwilling to burst into laughter, however, that one moment of distraction nearly caused the glasses to slip from her hands. Right there and at that moment, she could swear that her soul fled her body for a second or so.
Draven pulled tightly on the string with two arrows very well positioned in between his two fingers. His first target was Ava.
Ava blinked her eyes. "Two arrows? Where am I supposed to run?" She was on the verge of breaking down into tears.
Three...two...one...
Draven let go, and the arrow flew. Ava, who was too scared to move, was glued to the ground. Her shoulders were rising and falling in fear. Her eyes were shut, and she was waiting for the arrow to hit her; however, after a few minutes, she slowly calmed down and opened her eyes, confused.
Did none of the arrows hit her? She looked down to see that both arrows had landed at her feet.
Everyone’s mouths were agape in shock. How could they have forgotten? Draven was probably the last man on earth who would ever hurt a woman. If there was one thing he would never do or could never bring himself to do, it would be hurting a woman with his own hands.
He could never do it!
"Don..." Ava raised her head to look at him.
"Out!" Draven said to her.
Without hesitation, Ava hurried off. Now it was just Loui, Olive, and Pierre.
"Why do I have a feeling that we are in deep shit?" Pierre spoke.
Olive swallowed hard. Who was going to be his target this time around?
Draven grabbed another two arrows from Prince and pulled the string. His target this time was Pierre.
What should I do? As he narrowed his eyes, he began to ponder. He was no longer going to risk making any further mistakes, but he must make Natasha get a taste of her own medicine.
When should I act? Should I wait till Avelina is out of that state, or should I make a move along with it? He deeply frowned.
This was the source of his anger. He despised Natasha, and he was pissed. His knowledge of the fact that she was living unscathed while his wife was in pain made his blood boil.
"No one hurts my wife and gets away with it! An eye for an eye!" He let go of the arrows, and they flew toward Pierre.
