A Game Of Chess With A Vampire -
Chapter 135: Do You Feel Warm Now?
Chapter 135: Do You Feel Warm Now?
Ava chirped in, saying,
"She could have possibly taken a photo of Lady Avelina."
Loui nodded, agreeing with her. "That is true."
"Oh, Mon Dieu." Prince appeared very worried.
"What will happen now?" Lucien inquired.
Pierre shook his head. "There is nothing we can do, Lucien. Once that method is activated on anyone, no one can save them but themselves. The victim will have to overcome his or her fears, and if not, they will eventually die on the seventh night, painfully at that."
Lucien’s face contorted in an ugly manner. She glanced at Loui and tightly balled her hands into fists.
"So you’re saying that if Lady Avelina is not able to face her biggest fear, she will die? In such a painful way at that? What the fuck?!"
Pierre nodded. "Unfortunately so."
"Gosh! This is so frustrating! I feel like I could pull my hair out!" Ava groaned. "If anything happens to Lady Avelina, where will we be able to find a trustworthy queen like her again? Someone who would willingly help Don. Plus, she has been doing such a good job so far!"
"I agree." Lucien nodded. "Don does not seem so lonely anymore." She buried her face in her palms.
Ava, whose facials had grown red in anger, began to crack her knuckles.
"I will mince Lady Natasha like a piece of meat, and I will use her to make some soup."
"Jesus, Ava!" Olive exclaimed.
Ava glanced at him. "I do not mean it! But she will get a piece of my mind."
"Mine included," Lucien added.
Pierre pinched between his brows. "Olive, how is Don doing?"
"I guess he is doing fine," Olive responded. "Although he sounded quite agitated when he called me, It would be more fitting if I said, frustrated. He blames himself for what happened to Lady Avelina."
"Pourquoi?" Prince inquired.
Olive threw his head back and stared at the ceiling as he replied, "He thinks he was too careless. If he had been more careful, none of it would have occurred."
"But that is not true." Loui frowned.
"Indeed." Pierre nodded. "You see, to us, Don is different, but to Don, he feels as though he does not do enough, even though we can never do as much as he does. Without his brain, we would not have come this far."
"I wish he would understand that things will not always be in his control. He is not perfect, therefore, he will definitely miss once in a while."
Loui said, adding to Pierre’s words, "Don believes that every mistake is a huge pullback from his goal, thus, he cannot afford it."
"Do you think Lady Avelina thinks it is his fault?" Lucien was wondering.
Olive shook his head. "I don’t know. Maybe, or maybe not."
"Hopefully she doesn’t. Don cannot get any more hurt than he already has from everyone." Ava was pessimistic.
Everyone nodded, agreeing with her. Pierre probed, "How many nights does Lady Avelina have left?"
"I believe it’s six nights," Olive replied.
"I see." Pierre rubbed his temple, a bit stressed. "Maybe we can figure out something to do to help. There must be a solution. We cannot let Lady Avelina die like this."
"Will she be able to hold on?" Loui asked.
Pierre looked at him. "What do you mean?"
"You understand that death in sleep is a very painful process, Pierre. Lady Avelina is a human. Even for vampires like us, the pain is said to be unbearable. Do you think that she will be able to endure it for six nights and face her biggest fear at the same time?" Loui’s brows were raised as he questioned
Everyone knew that his question was valid. To be honest, they had thought the same, but as ridiculous as it may have sounded, they had to hope she could. She was one of the strongest pieces, even if not physically.
Pierre took a deep breath. "You’re right, but still. You never know. She could possibly be able to do it. Don said never to underestimate humans. They may not match us in strength, but in other things, they possibly can."
"Don’t forget that fighting has nothing to do with this, it only has to do with endurance and will. Lady Avelina’s endurance and will may be high, you never know. After all, she did survive the slave house. I don’t know, but my hope in her path is kind of pretty high."
They stared at him, and the first to speak was Ava. "He’s right. I think she can do it."
"Yes." Lucien chirped in. "All we have to do right now is find a way to help somehow."
"I agree." Olive half-smiled before deeply exhaling.

Draven took his shirt off, leaving his upper body bare.
He got into the bed and laid down, covering himself with the duvet. He stared at Avelina, who sat on the bed with her attention fixed on the book she was reading.
"I will be going to sleep now, Avelina," he said to her.
Avelina shut the book and looked at him. "Now?"
"Mhm," Draven nodded.
"Can I sleep with you?" Avelina inquired.
Draven blinked his eyes, as though pondering. "Sleep...with me?"
"Yes," Avelina replied. "I don’t think I slept well last night. My eyes feel weary."
Draven beamed at her. "Of course, you can."
Avelina giggled softly and lay under the duvet beside him. She shifted closer to him and wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging him.
Draven rapidly flickered his eyes. "Avelina, what are you doing?" he asked. It was a bit uncomfortable as his face was pressed against her chest.
"Let me hold you too. I feel really cold, and I want to cuddle," Avelina responded, shutting her eyes.
"Oh..." Draven was a bit surprised. "Is that so?"
Avelina nodded. "Yes."
"Well, okay. But allow me to adjust a bit." Draven moved a little and buried his face in her shoulder before wrapping his arms around her waist. "Do you feel warm now?"
